Tess Holliday Responds to Criticism That Her Pregnancy Is Unhealthy: “We ALL Deserve to Be Treated With Dignity”

Post workout stretches w/ my amazing trainer @mackfit I stay active for me, & only me. It’s not about proving anything or trying to lose weight, it’s about what makes ME happy! Our society is so engrained to think that all bodies (especially bigger ones) shouldn’t be respected & appreciated, it’s heartbreaking. We ALL deserve to be treated with dignity regardless of our size, gender, race, sexual orientation, abilities, etc., & should demand that of those around us. When people criticize or belittle us it says more about them than us, remember that, Don’t let anyone dull your shine or underestimate what you are capable of #FUCKyourbeautystandards #mackfit #25weekspregnant #honormycurves #hogwarts

Tess Holliday is no stranger to criticism about her body size. But detractors have recently taken issue with her pregnancy. Australian fitness blogger Ashy Bines chastised Holliday on social media, claiming her health can put her unborn baby at risk. “Now that you are pregnant also, the risk of birth complications and providing your baby with the nutrients that it needs to have the best start in life, I just don’t think you’re doing a very good job and you’re putting this out to your 1.1 million followers,” Bines said. She also posted an image of Holliday next to an excessively thin model, writing in the caption that they are both negative role models.

True to form, Holliday isn’t letting the criticism deter her. The 30-year-old stunner, who is pregnant with her second child, posted a video of herself exercising in the gym, writing:

The post has been liked by over 20,000 fans at press time. Holliday also addressed Bines’ criticism directly, telling Us Weekly: “She basically said I was doing an injustice to my [unborn] child by being fat and pregnant and unhealthy.”

The 25-weeks pregnant star is working with her trainer on a customized regimen for her pregnancy. And as she so eloquently stated, her end goal is not to lose weight to fit other people’s standards but to embrace a happy, healthy lifestyle. Who could possibly find an issue with that?
