If you were one of the avid fans who helped makeup legend Pat McGrath’s Skin Fetish 003 kit sell out in under an hour, best set an alarm for noon Eastern Standard Time on August 30. That’s when the glitter-obsessed glam pro is launching her latest offering, Lust 004, on patmgrath.com. A series of three lip kits, each containing two matte lipsticks, a clear, translucent lip gloss, one pot of ultrafine glitter and another holding McGrath’s signature gold pigment, Lust 004 comes from McGrath’s “land of extremes.”
Already surreptitiously modeled by Bella Hadid at the Atelier Versace Fall Couture runway show and Rihanna on her September 2016 W covers, the pout-highlighting sets — available in Version Flesh (nude), Version Vermillion Venom (red) or Version Bloodwine (purple and deep red) — are sure to be the next big thing in lip wear.
While each kit will retail for $60, the sparkle-averse can buy each of the six matte lipsticks individually at $25 a pop. On the flipside, Lust 004 devotees can purchase a bargain package containing all three kits for $150.
Each sets’ five products can be mixed, matched and layered seemingly endlessly to achieve varying finishes, colors and levels of shine. For optimal glow, paint the corresponding glitter on over the matte lipstick and then apply the clear gloss over both. Or go chrome and pair the gold pigment with the shiny top layer. McGrath herself stated she “would do the flesh color, then I would do the gold on a wet brush to put on my Cupid’s bow.” Um, sold.
Along with wearing balms and shining like the sun, these versatile, runway-worthy sets can also be used on more than just lips. Use the gold pigment as an eyeliner or highlighter. Use the gloss to swipe a dewy sheen over your eyeshadow.
Oh, and if that alarm fails you, Lust 004 will hit the shelves of certain Sephora locations, along with the company’s website, sometime during the morning of September 8 (for Skin Fetish 003, the “morning” meant somewhere around 1 p.m.).
