OMG Ocean’s Eight Will Star Rihanna, Cate Blanchett, Anne Hathaway and More

The Ocean’s 8 movie poster (slash the film itself) is. going. to. rule.

Following in the footsteps of the Ghostbusters franchise, Ocean’s 11 is about to get an estrogen-filled (and, thusly, improved) spin-off. So far, the all-star lineup includes none other than Rihanna, Sandra Bullock (who will serve as the George Clooney of the group), Cate Blanchett, Anne Hathaway (who is having the best week ever), Helena Bonham Carter and Mindy Kaling — the ultimate #girlgang if there ever was one (sorry, Taylor).

Although we’ll be able to catch RiRi in her Unfiltered documentary and Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets —which stars another fashion favorite, Cara Delevingne — sometime next year, we’re anxious to see the R&B singer further her foray into acting. Unlike her voice-over role in Home or her fleeting cameos in This Is The End and Annie, this time around we anticipate some cool live-action moments from the songstress-cum-fashion designer-cum-principal cast member.

“It’s a great script, and it’s great for women. Just hilarious,” fellow thief Helena Bonham Carter said of the Olivia Milch-penned screenplay in June.

New York-born rapper and comedian Nora Lum (aka Awkwafina) will also star, which still leaves one spot remaining for the film to live up to its title. Who will it be? We know what you’re thinking…but Jennifer Lawrence reportedly declined the role due to scheduling conflicts. Based on the way this year’s been going, our money’s on Amy Schumer, Brie Larson or Alicia Vikander.

The film, which will be directed by The Hunger Games’ Gary Ross and produced by Steven Soderbergh, the man who lensed the original Ocean’s 11 trilogy, is set to film in New York this October. Get ready for some seriously lit post-NYFW street style sightings.
