Anna Ewers Gets Swallowed Up in Loewe for Her Fourth Cover of Vogue Paris

Anna Ewers is certainly no stranger to the cover of Vogue. The German beauty captivated us on the cover of Vogue Japan last month and can currently be seen on British Vogue‘s February issue alongside fellow models Imaan Hammam and Taylor Hill. A favorite of Emmanuelle Alt, Anna returns to the cover of French Vogue for a fourth time, wearing Loewe on the magazine’s February edition shot by photographer David Sims.

Unfortunately, the cover was met with mixed reviews by our critical forum members. “Stunning and powerful! There’s some excessive softening going on around her face which doesn’t match her body, but I love this shot. Glad to see Anna back at VP after a yearlong hiatus,” Benn98 pointed out the moment the cover dropped, about to stand alone in his liking toward the cover.

“I don’t like it. Anna is too weak of a model to be styled like this. She’s literally being swallowed by the clothes. Boring, next,” announced an unforgiving anlabe32. (more…)

David Sims Shoots a Series of Mesmerizing Portraits for Valentino’s Spring 2017 Campaign

Each season, there’s always one campaign that has us head over heels, and Valentino has managed to stand out once again after a truly epic Fall 2016 campaign. With Maria Grazia now heading up Christian Dior, Pierpaolo Piccioli‘s first campaign as solo creative director is sublime. Ditching Steven Meisel in favor of David Sims, Piccioli tapped models Christy Turlington, Liya Kebede, Fei Fei Sun, Julia Ratner, Mali Koopman, Blesnya Minher and Lorena Maraschi for a series of mesmerizing portraits.

Members of our forums were full of praise for the Spring 2017 campaign. “Oh yeah, this is going to be good,” confessed GERGIN after seeing the first campaign image.

“VERY quickly becoming a fan of Pierpaolo. I will say I usually enjoy Valentino’s campaigns but never collection AND campaign. Valentino should thank the Gods they retained the superior of the duo,” voiced VogueDisciple93. (more…)

Dakota Johnson Sports a Fresh New Hairstyle on Her Second US Vogue Cover

Vogue received a virtual standing ovation from our forums for Ruth Negga‘s January cover. Unfortunately, not so much for February. Since it was rumored to be Viola Davis‘ month, our forums were disappointed to see Dakota Johnson on the newly revealed cover. Photographed by Patrick Demarchelier, the Fifty Shades actress makes a return appearance to US Vogue, exactly two years after her last, sporting a fresh new hairstyle while wearing Proenza Schouler.

Per usual, our forum members voiced their opinions loud and clear. “So much better than her first one by Testino. No interest in Dakota or her movie though,” said Miss Dalloway the second the cover came to light.

“See, I knew she was going to get the cover for February and watch her get Glamour for March again or Cosmo. This is 1000% better than her last cover which was so bad, but why not Viola Davis?” asked RanThe. (more…)

Toni Garrn Models This Season’s Most-Coveted Balenciaga Top on Vogue Germany’s February Cover

Our forums barely recognized Cameron Russell on the cover of Vogue Germany last month, but thankfully its cover girl for February 2017 is far more identifiable. With no signs of over-styling, harsh makeup or bizarre headgear, Toni Garrn makes a return to the cover of her native Vogue. Photographed by Giampaolo Sgura, Toni wears a minimal amount of makeup, her hair scrapped back and models one of this season’s most coveted Balenciaga looks in the full-length cover image.

The cover left our forum members divided in their opinion. “I like that Balenciaga but the G in her hand is so, so awful. This is not a children’s magazine,” snarled anlabe32 the moment the cover dropped.

“I love this cover, even the G in her hands. Could have done with a little less text though,” added sore. (more…)

Joan Smalls Makes a Tired Concept Look Fresh in Michael Kors’ Spring 2017 Campaign

Though Michael Kors has been recycling his car + clothing campaign concept for the past few seasons, he sure knows how to cast a model. For Fall 2016, he gave us Freja Beha Erichsen, for Resort 2017, he served up Anja Rubik, and now we’re treated to Joan Smalls for Spring 2017. Since she opened the show during New York Fashion Week, it was a given that Joan would star in the campaign, based on Kors’ past record. Joan has never looked better as she plays the role of the Michael Kors woman with ease, photographed by Mario Testino.

Our forum members loved the campaign — eventually. “The car again, seriously?” questioned a disgruntled thatsfierce the moment the campaign dropped.

“Why can’t they just move out of the car for their campaign?” ranted ChicSaks. (more…)

Nicole Kidman, Zoe Kravitz, Reese Witherspoon and Shailene Woodley Compete for Best Cover on ELLE’s Annual Women in TV Issue

ELLE has a tendency to do multi-cover issues featuring a handful of women extremely well. The magazine’s annual Women In TV Issue has just dropped for February 2017, starring four cast members from HBO’s Big Little Lies. Reese Witherspoon, Zoe Kravitz, Shailene Woodley and Nicole Kidman each hold their own on solo covers shot by photographer Alexi Lubomirsrki.

Our forum members didn’t waste time choosing their favorites. “Reese and Nicole might just be my favorite because we rarely see them in this relaxed but sultry light. US ELLE does actresses justice again,” dodencebt pointed out straight away.

“Nicole’s got the best one, IMO. It’s that effortless vibe with the top paired with denim. Also, she looks great. I’m actually rather fond of Shailene because she’s a tremendous actress, but she’s very tricky to photograph. Styling should be kept simple with her, in this case it’s too overbearing,” wrote Benn98.
