Serena Williams Looks Radiant on British Harper’s Bazaar’s July Covers

We’re accustomed to British Harper’s Bazaar delivering us more of the same with each issue, but the magazine has finally stepped away from the stately English manors it favors for its latest offering. For the July 2018 issue, Bazaar heads to Palm Beach, Florida for a sun-filled cover shoot with none other than Serena Williams. Photographed by Richard Phibbs and styled by Miranda Almond, Serena looks joyful and radiant at the beach on both the subscribers cover (below) and the regular newsstand alternative (after the jump).

Members of our forums were pleasantly surprised. “Wow, not what I expected at all. It’s certainly season-appropriate, just hoped she would get the Harper’s hyper-feminine treatment. That would’ve been refreshing instead of this awkward jumpsuit. This mid-pose shot, which does look natural, isn’t really for me. Still, I’m shocked at her booking this title! The casting is certainly refreshing and I’ll still get it,” commented Benn98.

“Yes, how wonderfully unexpected! Love that it looks like an image where they caught her in a moment, something we don’t often get from covers. Love it!” Miss Dalloway applauded.

Karlie Kloss’ 40th Vogue Cover for Vogue Spain’s June Issue Is Either Weird or Wonderful

Karlie Kloss is on another cover of a magazine and you won’t hear any complaints over here. Nope, she’s not solo on the cover of U.S. Vogue (seriously Anna Wintour… make it happen) but is back fronting Vogue Spain, following covers for Porter, Vogue Thailand and Town & Country over recent months. Five years after she made her debut on the Spanish fashion bible, the global brand ambassador for Estée Lauder makes a comeback for June 2018, which marks Karlie’s 40th Vogue cover overall. Photographed by Emma Summerton and styled by Patti Wilson, the all-American beauty strikes a pose wearing a floral-covered jumpsuit from Moschino’s Spring 2018 collection.

Members of our forums thought the cover was either weird or wonderful. “What happened to her arms? This is so weird,” Mint0102 said upon checking out the cover.

“It’s a terrible cover! They’re trying new things but I don’t think it’s working. It’s way too busy,” Benn98 replied.

“The shot used on the front is terrible, she looks like a flower-covered zombie slowly lumbering its way towards you,” tigerrouge pointed out.

Kate Upton Tops Maxim’s “Hot 100” List for 2018

Every magazine has its saving grace and Gilles Bensimon is most definitely Maxim‘s. The legendary French fashion photographer has captured the likes of Jasmine Tookes, Romee Strijd, Alessandra Ambrosio and a whole host of others for the international men’s magazine and now photographs Kate Upton for the double July/August 2018 issue. The blonde beauty tops Maxim’s “Hot 100” list for 2018, snatching the title from Hailey Baldwin, and serves up a stunning portrait cover image shot in the middle of the Israeli desert.

Kate managed to captivate our forum members instantly. “Quite stunning!” wrote magsaddict the moment the cover struck.

“This is actually stunning,” MON agreed.

“Gilles is the best thing that happened to this magazine,” noted marnsoop2.

Willy Vanderperre’s Lifeless Vogue Italia Covers Look Awfully Familiar

It’s official: our forum members have fallen out of love with photographer Willy Vanderperre after numerous underwhelming Prada campaigns and his Kardashian-Jenner x Calvin Klein stunt. To add fuel to the fire, the Belgian lensman disappoints again with a trio of depressing Vogue Italia covers for July 2018. The Italian fashion glossy really needed a win after last month’s controversial Gigi Hadid cover, but this month’s installment is disappointingly lifeless and dull. Mica Arganaraz, Rianne van Rompaey and Doutzen Kroes blandly pose on the beach, wearing little black dresses from Versace, Salvatore Ferragamo and Ermanno Scervino, styled by Olivier Rizzo.

The covers looked awfully familiar to our eagle-eyed forum members. “Looks like an outtake from any of Willy’s countless CK campaigns,” pointed out Ivanovaju at once.

“The setting seems the same as the Prada campaign he did for Spring 2017,” Sensation noticed.

“Boring models, lazy set, and yes that Prada campaign immediately came to my mind,” MDNA agreed.

Jessica Stam Looks Like a Drowning Victim on Vogue Portugal’s Unfortunate June Cover

Our forums regularly sing Vogue Portugal’s praises, whether it’s sensational covers featuring the likes of Anna Cleveland and Alessandra Ambrosio or Debra Shaw‘s first Vogue cover last month after decades of working within the industry. The magazine now embraces Jessica Stam for the newly unveiled June 2018 issue (Jessica’s last Vogue cover was way back in March 2015). Photographed by René & Radka, Jessica floats fully clothed in a pool for the provocative cover image, leaving us to wonder whether the magazine’s winning streak is about to come to a drastic halt.

Members of our forum immediately voiced their verdict. “This is what happens when one tries SO hard!! Waste of everyone’s time!” exclaimed Miss Dalloway.

Vogue Portugal, has run its course – now we’ve gone down the route of parody. This is so trying to be Vogue Italia (late 90s early 00s) it’s almost painful, and ultimately underlies the utter banality of their aesthetic,” slammed carbon-made.

“Why oh why is the masthead covering her face? I appreciate their creativity once again but this is a bizarre cover. The styling is beyond weird as well,” added Fiercification.

Hailey Clauson Replaces Bella Hadid as the Face of Giuseppe Zanotti

Like the majority of our forum members, Giuseppe Zanotti must be over Bella Hadid. The brand had all the right elements for an outstanding campaign last season but after two consecutive seasons featuring Bella, we guess it was time for a change. Out also is photographic duo Mert Alas & Marcus Piggott in favor of Sebastian Faena, who capturesSports Illustrated regular Hailey Clausen for the new Fall 2018 campaign.

Despite Zanotti’s best efforts, our forum members still weren’t captivated by the campaign. “I don’t know why Carine is still trying to make Faena happen. He is just not right for it. This looks cheap and the shoes themselves are not appealing at all,” Lola701 said.

“I do not like this campaign at all,” voiced Handbag Queen.

“From the neck up, screams Grace Kelly, the rest Instagirl. I have a soft spot for Faena. Or rather, Carine doing her best to champion him. He’s done some pretty solid stories over the years. Mostly for V magazine. This one’s a bit of a dud, sadly,” Benn98 chimed in.
