Critics famously panned Kanye West’s fashion line (Cathy Horyn even said it proves “[Kanye] can’t be taken seriously as a designer”) but at least one fashion insider is a fan of Yeezy: Carine Roitfeld. The former French Vogue editor dressed 20 models in Yeezy Season 2 for CR Fashion Book.

Three separate volumes of CR Fashion Book will hit newsstands on February 25: CR Fashion Book issue 8, CR Men’s Book issue 2 and CR GIRLS 2016. The third volume, CR GIRLS 2016, will star 20 American models “of the moment.” Roitfeld has yet to reveal which models will be featured but we do know they’ll be photographed by Sante D’Orazio. Models will don Gianvito Rossi shoes to complement their Yeezy duds.

“For me, no model was more iconic than Christie Brinkley with her white teeth and blonde hair, and her image was so compelling that it set a new beauty standard,” Roitfeld told WWD. “Now suddenly in 2016, we see the comeback of the American girl, and I find myself so excited by this new generation of stars.”

Who wants to bet that Kendall makes an appearance, dressed in one of her brother-in-law’s hole-filled sweatshirts? Pick up all three volumes of CR Fashion Book when they hit newsstands.

The cover left our forums divided. “Saw the title, and came in ready to complain, but wow this is stunning! Less really is more sometimes,” admitted JesseDillon, pleasantly surprised by the outcome.

“I was ready to shred it to pieces but…wow this is gorgeous,” agreed MON. (more…)

Michelle Obama’s State of the Union Dress Sold Out Immediately

If you tweeted using the State of the Union hashtag last night, you may have found yourself in the midst of a heated debate. The impassioned dispute wasn’t about foreign policy or climate change (though we’re sure those conversations were happening somewhere). Instead, people were speculating about the color of the First Lady’s dress.

Was it mango? Marigold? A new color invented specifically for Michelle Obama to brighten up the room…and our lives? Team Marigold ultimately had the last laugh when Narciso Rodriguez sent out a press release describing the dress as “marigold wool crepe.”

Before the State of the Union address ended, Mrs. Obama’s $2,095 dress, on sale for $628 at Neiman Marcus, had sold out everywhere. The First Lady also wore Narciso Rodriguez on election night in 2008. Talk about going out in style.

The world is still reeling after the death of beloved rock and roll legend David Bowie at the age of 69. One of the most influential musicians of our time, Bowie had an indelible impact on fashion, inspiring everyone from Gaultier to Gaga. In the wake of his passing after a private 18-month battle with cancer, the fashion industry is paying homage. Supermodel Kate Moss wore a T-shirt with his face emblazoned on the front and several designers including Paul Smith shared their condolences on social media. One of the most poignant tributes to Bowie took place on the Burberry runway.

The icon’s greatest hits, including “Changes,” played as guests entered Kensington Gardens for Burberry’s Men’s Fall 2016 show. Even the makeup paid tribute. Burberry makeup artist Wendy Rowe added a burst of Ziggy-inspired stardust under the models’ eyes as a nod to Bowie’s glamorous aesthetic. It looked as if they were crying tears of glitter. (more…)

Gwyneth Paltrow Announces Impossible ‘2016 Detox’ Diet and New Organic Makeup Line

Just as you were starting to slack on your 2016 diet resolutions, Gwyneth Paltrow has unveiled a detox to guilt get you back into shape. On her famous lifestyle website Goop, Paltrow shared a 7-day plan to give “our guts a break” and shed the “few extra pounds we just might have picked up at the end of the year.” She’s not referring to herself, of course, just the rest of us.

The diet plan is pretty intense, excluding gluten, dairy, corn, soy, sugar, red meat, white rice, shellfish and our favorites: caffeine and alcohol. But Paltrow promises the goal is not “starvation,” just misery. We kid. She’s allowing us to replace our beloved “wine, bread and french fries” with things like “delicious mung dal.” Yum!

She also suggests a colonic to get things started, as well as regular yoga, walking and spa sessions. And if the idea of a long walk followed by mung dal dinner seems downright awful, Paltrow offers plenty of motivational rhetoric. “This time of the year, we just stay the course,” says the accidental life coach.
