Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show Is Moving to London

Today we received news that us Brits have been dreaming of for what seems like forever: the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show will be moving to London from its original home in New York.

Angels Adriana Lima and Candice Swanepoel started by teasing us on Twitter about a secret that they had, and this morning the models descended upon the lingerie giant’s Bond Street store to make the official announcement.

Joined by the brand’s Marketing Director Ed Razek, they announced the surprising news that their show will be taking place at London’s Earls Court on December 2. If you didn’t think that was exciting enough, they also exclusively revealed that Cara Delevingne may be gracing its catwalk again too, and this time it’s obviously on her home soil. Apparently, she was asked to save the date, and has managed to keep the news a secret for an entire week. So, will Cara be strutting her stuff alongside the angels in December? It looks very likely.

In light of Victoria’s Secret’s ever expanding British portfolio, it seems like a no brainer to move the show to London and further boost its profile over the pond… Even if it results in only being for one season.

Vogue Russia’s May Cover Is a ‘Hot Mess’ with Catherine McNeil (Forum Buzz)

The latest issue of Vogue Russia has Australian beauty Catherine McNeil on the cover. The model was photographed by Mariano Vivanco and styled by Olga Dunina. The outcome of the shoot is very earthy, with a laid-back McNeil blending in to the landscape which surrounds her as she wears pieces from fashion houses such as Salvatore Ferragamo, Dries van Noten and Proenza Schouler.

"Hot mess… And am I the only one that thinks cat is quite an oddball choice for Vogue Russia??" wrote A.D.C.

MyNameIs wasn't impressed: "Really strange composition. That coat/jacket/hood thing looks really awkward. The hair would look nice on its own but combined with all the text and the hood, it all comes out looking really busy and messy. Cat looks pretty though."

"She looks hot, don't get me wrong, but the hair and the hood are just so strange-looking on the cover," commented ALAUU.

Although more positive comments started to flood in with Miss Dalloway posting, "I love this cover, so striking, I dont even mind it has too many elements for a close up, it's what holds my attention."

"This would be fabulous with minimal text and a darker masthead, because the image itself is awesome," suggested Pyslocke, who went on to state, "Really love this as a cover shot. Shame about the layout. Cat does look like a 70s babe, love the dramatic makeup and fluffy hair on her."

Barneys and Saint Laurent have cornered the luxury bedazzled stockings market with a pair of Italian-made tights covered with sparkly Strass crystals. Billed as a simple way to "move from conference room to cocktail party," the item is available in both black and crystal.

Pyromaniacs will also be happy to know that the item is made from polyamide fabric, which is known to be nonflammable; $1,290 might sound like a lot of money, but at least you know you're buying something that was built to last.

Cameron Diaz Wears White Donna Karan on InStyle’s May Cover

It's no wonder, with the buzz surrounding Cameron Diaz's upcoming movie The Other Woman, that she has landed the cover of InStyle's May 2014 issue. The actress is seen wearing an all-white Donna Karan New York dress and a brown leather Tod's belt, which was styled by InStyle's style director Melissa Rubini.

This is a fantastic cover, no? It's extremely refreshing and I love the use of white. I am certainly in the mood for a summer vacation. The masthead works, the colors of the font complements the lighting of the photograph — everything is working in their favor here. It's a rare occasion that we see a magazine cover which does a celebrity justice. We are far too used to seeing over-edited cover shots, so I'm very satisfied with this.

An ‘Aged’ Kylie Minogue for Vogue Australia’s May Cover (Forum Buzz)

Kylie Minogue fronts the May 2014 issue of Vogue Australia. The Australian singer wears a Schiaparelli haute couture bodysuit as she is photographed by Will Davidson. Inside the magazine she talks about personal and career changes and also models one of Witchery's white shirts as part of the Witchery White Shirt campaign.

We aren't exactly deprived of Minogue on the cover of fashion magazines. She's fronted several covers of various different editions of Vogue and countless other fashion publications. My personal favorite is one shot with Elle Macpherson for the September 1999 issue of Vogue Australia.

Forum members are upset regarding the amount of post-production, with fluxx simply writing, "She is so over photoshopped."

"She looks a little aged in the face but overall it's actually a pretty cover. I like the pose and the layout," wrote Bobby153.

Fluxx also made a comment regarding Kylie's age: "She looks aged in that shot and not in a good way, but I love the composition and also set."

HeatherAnne wasn't convinced with Minogue's face and wrote, "Everything but her face looks good, what a shame."

TeeVanity is still admiring Abbey Lee Kershaw's most recent Vogue Australia cover: "Not bad at all, doesn't measure up to the greatness that the April cover was but still very decent."

5 Things Sephora Can Teach Myer and David Jones

In case you haven’t heard, Sephora is the latest in a slew of overseas chains with its sights on Australia. While it was really only a matter of time before the global beauty behemoth would make the move, we’ve now got a slightly more precise timeline: The first half of 2015 for Sydney, with approximately 25 stores slated to open across the country in the next few years. But not everyone is excited about it. David Jones and Myer were hoping to host Sephora concessions before Sephora decided to go it alone. And while cost harmonisation means we’ll never be able to get a Touché Éclat at American prices, there’s more than one reason department stores are feeling threatened.

1. Freebies are the way to our hearts.

No one is immune to the power of freebies. Ever watched wealthy socialites at Fashion Week squabbling over goodie bags of tissue paper and 2GB USB sticks? Only at Sephora the freebies are actually good. Every beauty purchase comes with three samples, which could be anything from a fragrance to a mini mascara. They also offer free mini makeovers in case you’ve crashed at a friend’s place and need to look hot for brunch.

2. Convenience of having everything in one place.

Ain’t nobody got time for shuffling down Pitt Street mall between Myer for your new foundation and the discount pharmacy for a $2 bottle of acetone. Busy people are willing to pay a little extra couple of dollars for the latter item to avoid the hassle.

3. We’re not as stupid as you think.

Some people love having products pushed on them by overzealous clerks. Others would rather consult their smartphone for price discrepancies and user reviews. Sephora employees don’t work on commission and aren’t loyal to one brand, meaning you won’t get the death stare if you abandon the Benefit counter for the NARS one.    

4. The power of cult products

An eye palette can be as much of a statement piece as an embellished box clutch, even if you’re not actually wearing it. Limited edition, collectable or just really in-demand items make you feel like your only regret about dropping $54 on an Urban Decay Naked 2 palette is that you don’t also own 1 and 3.

5. Home brands don’t have to suck.

Sephora’s own line is a huge contributor to the $4.4 billion the chain pulls in annually. Its makeup brushes are particularly budget-friendly (really, YSL? You’re not going to include an applicator with that $30 eyeliner?) and its excellent collaborations (Pantone, Divergent) are further reason to go in-house.
