IKEA’s New Mirror Thinks You’re Gorgeous

Mirror, mirror on the wall…who doesn’t appreciate a morning confidence boost, especially on bleary Mondays before that coffee has kicked in? IKEA has created a “motivational mirror” that delivers custom compliments ranging from “That’s a magnificent beard” to “Your eyes are mesmerizing.” It’s the result of science, not sorcery, but we’d love to get our Evil Queen on with a morning reminder that we’re the fairest of them all. While IKEA currently has no plans to send this mirror into production, our editors agree that we certainly wouldn’t mind one (or three) around theFashionSpot offices! For now, watch the magical mirror in action below.

Steven Meisel Photographs Karlie, Lexi and Sasha for Vogue Italia (Forum Buzz)

After a blockbuster September cover, Vogue Italia moves swiftly on to the release of its latest issue. Steven Meisel photographed Karlie Kloss, Lexi Boling and Sasha Pivovarova for Italian Vogue‘s October 2014 issue. The trio of Meisel favorites were styled by Karl Templer wearing the same Giorgio Armani jacket, while an effortless amount of makeup was applied by Pat McGrath using L’Oréal Paris products. Guido Palau decided to cover the girls’ hair with a black headpiece, a popular choice for past Meisel shoots.

Our forum members still had mixed reactions to the cover. “Whoa, love it! Need to scrape my pennies together for this. It seems to me it’s just VI that shoots Lexi Boling?” raved Benn98, who is certainly an admirer of the fold-out cover.

KateTheGreatest shared his sentiments and wrote, “Stunning, to me this is typical Meisel.”

“Simple and gorgeous, Meisel at his best! All look great, and very happy to see them,” proclaimed a more than satisfied Miss Dalloway.

“In my opinion this is better than last month’s cover. It’s simple but so stunning. As much as I love Karlie though, reading that Coco [Rocha] is in the editorial, I would [have] really loved to see her on the cover. Though Karlie is one VI repeater that I will never complain about,” echoed JesseDillon, but then went on to comment, “I don’t think Sasha & Lexi are needed here though. I can understand a multi girl fold-out if there is more than one girl on the main cover, but this way I’m not a fan.”

Also not a fan of the fold-out was Lifeispeachy: “I love every picture but I don’t see the point of making a fold-out.”

“Meh, they all look identical. Bored,” wrote marsnoop2, who didn’t appreciate the repetition of the cover images.

“Nothing particularly exciting. I hate the layout. Talk about taking a theme too literally…” disapproved an underwhelmed orchidee.

Coco and Aymeline Valade join Karlie, Lexi and Sasha for the cover story, and thanks to Oxymore, the editorial can be viewed inside the thread. Check out “Shape Shift” along with the rest of the content and join the discussion here.

After about three years away from the game, it was announced today that John Galliano will be making a return to fashion, this time at the helm of Maison Martin Margiela. Since he was fired from his post at Christian Dior, there has been a lot of talk about what’s next for the designer. Now that the speculation can finally come to an end, the fashion set has been very vocal on their thoughts of Margiela’s newest appointment. While some seem happy for the designer, others are left pondering  if a character such as Galliano is a good fit for the Maison, which has left the names of its designers anonymous for several years.

Today, the fashion industry is trying to wrap its head around the news. Here are some reactions from members of the fashion set on Galliano’s new gig:

Natasha Poly Channels Debbie Harry on Vogue Turkey’s October Cover (Forum Buzz)

Natasha Poly‘s on fire this month as the model claims her third Vogue cover. The Russian L’Oréal spokesperson stars on the German as well as the French editions, and is now channeling Debbie Harry on Vogue Turkey’s October 2014 cover. Cuneyt Akeroglu treated his Instagram followers to a preview of the upcoming cover last week, but the preview is a far cry from the official cover image. Natasha was shot in a London residential area wearing a black studded leather jacket, a smoky eye and a platinum blond wig, while gazing down the Turkish photographer’s lens.

Natasha may resemble the American singer-songwriter from the rock band Blondie on the cover, but members of our forums are seeing someone else. “This cover is disappointing. Notwithstanding that awful hair but Natasha doesn’t even resemble herself. I thought it was Aline Weber at first glance,” shared AL92.

“I have to say the preview from Akeroglu’s Instagram looks better and Natasha looks like Aline Weber here,” agreed ash92.

Also noticing the resemblance was KateTheGreatest, who wrote, “Yeah I gotta agree, she looks so much like Aline Weber here. Not her best cover.”

Benn98 was left underwhelmed by the cover. “This is the first time I’m not feeling a VT cover. That preview was misleading. Because of the landscape and mood, I thought it would be something more natural. The main cover is such a let-down. The image is just not cover-worthy, and I’m not a fan of the hair as [it] reminds me of Donald Trump. The hashtag can go plus I hope these will not be the new fonts,” he posted, and even goes on to say, “I’m slowly getting fed up with Natasha Poly covering everything in only a matter of months.”
“Who does their layout?? Hashtags?? Oh no. Hell no. The fonts are all over the place,” disapproved a very unsatisfied MON.

A rave review from lalatran stood out from the rest. “This is everything that I need! She is giving [a] death stare like a wolf and the hair, the makeup. Her lips were perfectly drawn on and the badass studded leather jacket… spot on,” he wrote, obviously not sharing the majority of our forum members’ sentiments.
