Roberto Cavalli: ‘I Just Want to Tell Michael Kors to Stop Copying Me!’

Image: WENN.com

In an interview with Style.com, big talker Roberto Cavalli went after Michael Kors, accusing the American designer of copying work:

"[American women] trust designers like Michael Kors. He’s one of the biggest copy designers in the world. I just want to tell him to stop copying me! Stop! All the time I write those comments on Instagram. He copies everybody! And Americans like Michael Kors! And you love so many other designers who do that—he’s not American fashion. He is international fashion made in America. It’s not fair. The American women, they all dress the same."

Blah blah blah. Haven't you heard, Roberto? Everyone copies everyone. And as TheFashionLaw points out, you do too.

Still, I will personally PayPal $5 to anyone who can track down some of those Instagram comments. Fine, make it $10. [h/t]

Rita Ora Shoots a DKNY Fragrance Campaign in New York City

Image: WENN.com

(This is an accurate visual representation of what it's like to be in NYC right now. It's freezing and dark and most people seem to be asleep, even as they're walking around and going to work.)

Yesterday morning, Rita Ora was spotted in New York City, shooting what many believe to be a DKNY fragrance campaign. Although the Estee Lauder division which holds the scent license refused to comment when it was reached by WWD, several outlets (including our photo service) have confirmed the pop star as the face of the fragrance line. The news comes as no surprise: Ora walked the runway for the label's Spring 2014 collection, she appeared in the Resort 2014 ads and she performed at the 25th anniversary party in September.

What is the true spirit of our times? Google knows, because Google knows all.

Behold, excerpts from the 2013 issue of its annual Zeitgeist data drop, Google's guide to search trends. The insights are amazing:

The tomato mozzarella salad has long been the dominant leader in the appetizer space, but 2013 indicated that shrimp is moving up fast.

Our men might be the world's greatest technological innovators, but they are in peril: They are sitting in silence, their necks naked. They squeeze their lips together but cannot produce any sound. And they can't go on vacation because they don't have a passport.

WTF? Both Esquire and GQ Named ‘Blurred Lines’ Model Emily Ratajkowski ‘Woman of the Year’

64.6% of people voted Emily Ratajkowski as the Woman of the Year

Image: Instagram/FancyGomez

For model Emily Ratajkowski, 2013 was a breakthrough year. And that's almost entirely because she appeared nude in Robin Thicke's sensational 'Blurred Lines' music video featuring T.I and Pharrell, which has racked up over 235 million views on YouTube. The sexed-up clip was the subject of a lot of controversy for its allegedly "rapey" lyrics — "I know you want it / I know you want it / I know you want it / You're a good girl." The fact that those lyrics were accompanied by the sight of naked models dancing around clothed, male performers didn't mollify the Thicke's critics.

Emily Ratajakwski poses shirtless in a ad for Rag and Bone jeans

Of the three women who appeared in the video, Ratajkowski is the only to successfully parlay the appearance into a full-blown career. (Jessi M'Bengue and Elle Evans have not enjoyed the same stellar trajectories.) The British-born model was cast in a supporting role opposite Ben Affleck in the forthcoming film Gone Girl; she also starred in a series of Rag & Bone ads (pictured, right) and posed for CR Fashion Book

Good for her. Those are all fantastic accomplishments and doubtless there are millions of girls who wish they were in her place. But is she "Woman of the Year?" According to Esquire's readers — yes, definitely, 100%. The model beat out Jennifer Lawrence in a bracket-style tournament for the distinction. So essentially, a woman whose major achievement this year was being a naked prop in a borderline-offensive music video is more deserving than a talented, charming Academy Award-winning movie star. Got it, no problem. Enjoy hell, boys!

The model was also named "Babe of the Year" by GQ. Totally: 'Babe' is practically in her job description. And how does GQ celebrate its babest babe? In one of the feature's opening shots, the model is shown photographed from behind by Terry RichardsonShe's wearing sheer, frilly underwear. An arrow points to her mostly bare ass with a caption reading, "Starring Emily Ratajkowski, a.k.a. that girl from the 'Blurred Lines' video."

Anja Rubik has snagged yet another Vogue cover. The Polish model stars on Vogue Korea’s first cover of 2014, for which she was shot by Alexi Lubomirski. The surprisingly bright and fresh cover for this edition of Vogue was a hit on the tFS forums.

“I like it! It's simple and the colours look fresh. Looks like a good start to the year,” shared ash92

AL92 posted, “Gorgeous cover! Simple yet sultry. I must admit I am a fan of Lubomirski's work. The only complaint I have is Vogue Korea's recurring use of grey backgrounds for cover shots.”

Yesitsdagny also gave positive feedback on the cover. She wrote, “I'm not usually a fan of Anja's but this cover is gorgeous and so are those previews. Her face is truly stunning and I love the simplicity of this cover.”

“Not a huge fan of Anja, but I do like this cover and especially the use of colors,” agreed justaguy

Indeed, the cover and previews are wonderful. The simplicity works and Anja radiates joy and sexiness in the editorial previews. Definitely a great start into the New Year for Vogue Korea!

Abbey Lee Kershaw ‘Argues’ With Riley Keough For iD’s ‘More Than a Model’ Series

abbey-leeAbbey Lee Kershaw has her blonde hair back, some very long extensions, and an awkward new video interview for iD. “Australia’s number one supermodel crush” stars in the second installment of the magazine’s new "More Than a Model" series, letting a cameraman into the somewhat chaotic Hollywood home she shares with her Mad Max: Fury Road co-star, American actress Riley Keough.

The “interview” doesn’t teach us much other than that it’s probably not a good idea to move in with one of your best friends. We do glean that she’s into the color aqua because it’s “edible,” and that her secret talent is playing the piano with her knuckles. About five seconds into her debut as on on-film pianist, Keogh barrels in with a bag of groceries and a half-empty juice, then the piano playing stops and the arguing begins.

If you find it funny when girls hurl insults based on physical appearances, watch the video below and prepare yourself for a rollicking good time. Keough calls Abbey “pretentious,” “boring” and an “airhead,” shames her makeup application skills, and even commits the unholiest of sins – dissing her beloved forehead bindi. Abbey refers to the bindi as her “third eye,” which actually does sound pretty pretentious, and calls Riley “ugly.” LOL!

The two BFFs probably are just messing around for the camera, though. At least we’ll pretend they are anyway, since the other option is that Abbey Lee is kind of an a**hole. On the plus side, the interview gives credence to two of our beliefs about the model: Her hair has magical powers, and she’s well overdue for a high fashion comeback. Kershaw has been on hiatus while filming the Mad Max remake, but recently shot a spread for 25 magazine on top of her Gucci Fall 2013 ads. Though if none of this comes to fruition, she’s equally cut out for reality television.
