By now, we know Miley Cyrus doesn’t really need an excuse to take off her clothes, but this time around she’s disrobing for a good cause. Miley has been a champion of the #FreeTheNipple movement and she took her allegiance to new heights over the holidays when she posted a topless photo of herself with her nipples exposed in solidarity for the cause. The photo was very elegantly captioned, “Some lame ass deff gonna flag dat shit, but fuckk it #practicewhatchupreach #FreeTheNipple #freedatshit.” It was, naturally, taken down soon after it was posted.
Instagram’s policy against exposed women’s nipples has been a hot topic during 2014, which came to a head when Rihanna was booted from the social media outlet for having posted pictures from her Lui magazine cover shoot. Miley littered her Instagram with a deluge of images referencing the movement. (more…)
LOFT is not done bringing you the laughs this holiday season. The retailer tapped the girls of SRSLY to star in a few hilarious Christmas-themed shorts and now, it has recruited the talents of #HotMessMoves to put a humorous spin on all the ins and outs of keeping (or not keeping) New Year’s resolutions, deleting people you shouldn’t be talking to in 2015 from your phone, making the effort to finally learn how to cook a meal and more. Ashley Skidmore and Lyle Friedman are the brains and faces behind the comedy duo, whose hilarious YouTube channel boasts a following over 21,000 strong. For LOFT, the pair shot four videos that are launching on the website today.
The shorts are, of course, very funny and had us intrigued about the women behind the alarmingly true-to-life skits. We caught up with Ashley and Lyle to learn a little more about their partnership with LOFT, ghosts of New Year’s past and of course, their resolutions for 2015.
theFashionSpot: How did you arrive on the concepts for the videos?
Lyle Friedman: LOFT suggested we stick with the seven deadly sins for the Vines. And then the concept of us doing our best to better ourselves in real ways. New Year’s is almost adorable in how many of us get excited about being able to be different human beings in an instant. But it’s like, if you don’t know how to cook in 2014…you won’t January 1, 2015, either. Enroll in a class or recruit a helpful parent, put in a month or two of practice, you can bake a chicken, sure! But who wants to do that? (more…)
We were first aware that Gisele Bündchen would be fronting Chanel’s mainline Spring 2015 campaign when Karl Lagerfeld was spotted shooting the Brazilian bombshell back in October. Chanel finally released the digital images via its website earlier today. The barefoot supermodel is captured by Lagerfeld at nightfall in Paris with a minimal amount of makeup and tied-back hair, with Carine Roitfeld on styling duties behind the scenes.
Forum members are currently expressing their feelings toward the campaign. “I’m happy that is Gisele fronting this campaign and not Cara or any other young girl, she brings a level of sophistication to the label that it desperately needed imo and so does the B&W,” raved kokobombon.
“Gisele makes Chanel fresh, chic,” added Nymphaea.
Ortemis was certainly an admirer and credited, “Better than anything from the last few seasons.”
“Karl needs to stop shooting the ads, he makes the clothes look like they’re from 20 years ago. This collection needed someone like David Sims or Craig McDean. Always happy to see Gisele, though,” shared a strong-minded Nepenthes.
But is Gisele truly a Chanel girl? She’s certainly bagged a lucrative Chanel campaign this year (No. 5 fragrance campaign, anyone?). “She looks terrible. I’ve never understood her as a Chanel girl,” disapproved jj36.
“I agree, she’s not a good Chanel girl, but I’ll take her over the hipsters, socialites and newbies we’ve seen over the past seasons. That said, I like the shots and the location, but Gisele looks BORED,” replied anlabe32.
Forum member gazebo soon came to Gisele’s defense: “How can you say she’s not a Chanel girl? Gisele is EVERY girl, she’s a chameleon and that’s why she’s No. 1. It’s the best Chanel ad in recent years, very straightforward and beautiful.” (more…)
Want to get bombshell hair like Claudia Schiffer but can’t afford a styling team? The German supermodel is bringing us one step closer to getting her luxurious mane, now that she has launched her own range of haircare products to be sold at Walmart.
With the help of Schwarzkopf, Claudia debuts her line with coloring, washing and styling products, some aimed at providing volume, hold, heat protection and more. Trust, there’s plenty to choose from in the 74-piece collection, with prices ranging from $6.97 to $9.97. The line is making its way to the U.S. in January after having launched in Europe earlier in 2014.
In the meantime, you can peruse Claudia’s products, which contain ingredients like pearl essence and biotin, on the Schwarzkopf website to get an idea of what’s to come.
When you’re a celebrity, a well-placed selfie could mean serious dollars. Just ask Kim Kardashian. And such rings true for Lady Gaga, whose latest series of selfies will have her raking in the cash. The singer has been tapped by Shiseido as the face of its New Year’s 2015 campaign. Instead of hiring a high-profile photog for the shoot, the brand put Gaga to work, having her produce a series of 50 selfies, all of which will be released for the campaign.
The ads are set to run in a few Japanese newspapers to encourage people to add Shiseido to their list as they do some New Year’s shopping. Apparently, this particular time of year is a big shopping season in Japan, so these ads are coming at just the right time.
But good luck spying the ads in your local newspaper. The campaign is set to run only in Japan, so the rest of us will just have to wait for the photos to surface on the Internet.
After Suvi Koponen, Mariacarla Boscono and Amanda Murphy last season, Daria Werbowy now comes back for her sixth Salvatore Ferragamo advertising campaign. Photographed by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott, everyone’s favorite Ukrainian/Canadian model lounges by the poolside on location in Los Angeles sporting colorful dresses and leather accessories as she poses effortlessly for the Italian fashion house’s new Spring 2015 campaign. It’s no wonder our forum members are so full of praise!
“Love it. Daria and Arthur look gorgeous. I love the setting and the colors,” complimented MyNameIs, kicking us off on a positive note inside the thread.
VersaceVixen009 replied, “I cannot agree anymore. Daria looks fabulous!”
“Oooh Daria looks stunning. This is how I prefer her. I do get a lot of Gisele vibes from her shot, don’t know why,” noted Benn98.
“She looks to die for,” declared thatsfierce, and we agree!
Although not everyone was jumping for joy. “Nice that Daria got the campaign, but it’s boring. I’m very tired that M&M shot almost [all] the ads of the brand,” commented burbuja8910, who was left a little underwhelmed with Ferragamo’s new ads.
“Enough of Daria!! Even she looks bored,” agreed zacatecas570.
“I don´t like that they went back to previous seasons’ concept… last season was a nice departure now it’s back to same old same old. Daria looks good though, not her fault that this is a snooze fest,” posted kokobombon.
