Frieze London Kicks Off October 15

The Frieze Art Fair is gearing up to kick off in London this week, set to be housed this year in a structure located in Regent’s Park, created by London’s Universal Design Studio. Inside, you’ll find work from established and emerging artists, all putting their wares on display to sell to wealthy collectors. The rest of us can look, enjoy and imagine what it would be like to have hundreds of thousands of dollars at our disposal to decorate our expensive penthouses.

This year’s exhibitors include the Gagosian Gallery, Laura Bartlett Gallery, Timothy Taylor Gallery, Vilma Gold and many more. Frieze has also added a “Live” category to the fair, in which viewers can experience performance art installations. Expect to see works from Martin Creed, Eric BainbridgeHaegue Yang and several others.

It looks like the entire city is bracing itself for Frieze, including the fashion set. London’s Dover Street Market has taken past Frieze events as an opportunity to woo the art world’s fashion-forward clientele. This year, it is showing installations from Ann Demeulemeester, Nicolas Buffe and plans to debut Louis Vuitton‘s much-anticipated “Icons and Iconoclasts” collection.

Frieze Art Fair runs October 15 to October 18, so if you’re in London, check it out. Tickets are still available for purchase here.

Penélope Cruz Is Esquire’s Sexiest Woman Alive

What’s sexier than Penélope Cruz? Nothing — although bullfighting may be equally as sexy to the folks at Esquire. The lad mag has named the actress as this year’s Sexiest Woman Alive and while you would expect the accompanying article to tout her sexiness (it does), it also talks a lot about bullfighting — a lot.

Indeed, more than half of the piece, penned by Chris Jones, is about bullfighting. Yep, we get it: Penélope is Spanish and Spanish people like bullfighting. Throughout the interview, Penélope is eating what sounds like a delicious steak, so the connection is there, too. Plus it seems as if the actress wasn’t giving the writer much to work with. No wonder he had to focus on the death-for-sport of a large bovine in order to fill the word count quota. The sections actually profiling the actress just describe how pretty she is and that she wouldn’t elaborate on the details of her life. But we guess it’s Penélope’s mysterious nature that makes her so appealing.

Coach Teams with Peanuts for One Adorable Collaboration

Coach and Peanuts have joined forces for a very adorable capsule collection that’s available at Colette Paris today. Creative Director Stuart Vevers took Peanuts creator Charles M. Schulz‘s iconic characters and superimposed them onto Coach’s buttery leather bags. The limited-edition range adds a whimsical take on the brand’s sturdy, classic pieces.

Duffel bags, totes and crossbodies are embossed with tiny renderings of the Peanuts gang, though Snoopy and his avian friend Woodstock are the true stars of this collaboration. Their likenesses cover most of the pieces, which are rendered in hues of ivory, black, brown and “Woodstock Yellow.” In addition to handbags, you’ll also find luggage tags, coin purses, bookmarks and wallets. The brand has also created T-shirts and a black leather stuffed Snoopy, coming in a range of sizes.

Colette is debuting the collection today, but the collab is expected in Coach stores by November 1. The range will be available at on October 24, although the brand will be releasing its first app two days before, which will feature a program that allows you to get photobombed by the Peanuts gang.

Check out the range at Colette now.

Surprise, Surprise: Nadja Auermann Gets Vogue Germany’s November Cover (Forum Buzz)

While Gemma Ward‘s comeback is all we can talk about right now,Vogue Germany has delivered us an unexpected yet welcome cover choice. Nadja Auermann makes a rare appearance on the magazine’s November issue, shot by Luigi & Iango. The 43-year-old beauty sports a coat from Prada as she sits perched on some backstage equipment with her platinum blond hair slicked back, while her high cheekbones are elevated by the intense makeup look.

Vogue Germany November 2014 Nadja Auermann

Vogue Germany may have knocked it out of the park by enlisting Nadja, but it seems most of our forum members aren’t happy with a certain something. “Such a beautiful image and it is wonderful to see Nadja but I almost wish they removed the text to just let the image show. When you’ve got Nadja you don’t need any text!” noted Luxx.

“A striking shot ruined by the text. The text consumes her,” replied MON, in agreement over the unnecessary cover lines.

Also acknowledging the amount of text was Miss Dalloway, who commented, “Too much text, but such a strong image of Nadja, that you can’t help but look at her, past that sea of text!”

Discussion soon settled and a positive attitude continued to fill the thread. “Nadja in all her badass femme fatale glory. Fantastic cover,” raved Marc10.

“Absolutely striking cover! The color palette and the flawless image is to die for. Nadja is so powerful!” shared bridgettetson.

“Adore Nadja…she almost makes me forget the fact that that overrated Prada coat is on the cover!” approved a satisfied Fiercification.

TeeVanity said, “Incredible cover, I really like it.”

The rave reviews for the cover just kept flooding in with longliveamour proclaiming, “Absolutely a yes to this!!! Love seeing the re-emergence of Nadja! She looks so beautiful and fierce here with this lighting. Can’t wait to see what Luigi & Iango did for the editorial inside but if this is just the preview I’m sure it’s going to look amazing!”

Are you a fan? Await the content of the issue and share your own opinion of the cover here.

Glassons Gives a Crappy Response to its Controversial Skeletal Mannequins

Today we decided that Glassons kind of sucks. Firstly, it was discovered to be using mannequins with prominently exposed ribs. Not the best look, especially because its target market includes young, impressionable girls. But what’s worse is how the New Zealand retailer chose to justify this decision.

“Due to the position of the mannequin with the arm elevated and slightly twisted, the rib cage is naturally enhanced as it would be in real life,” Graeme Popplewell, chief executive of Hallensteins Glassons Group, told “The store lighting spotlights also increase this effect.” Seriously? We’re laughing so much our ribs hurt.

A spokeswoman from Glassons New Zealand also told Buzzfeed that the mannequins will remain in stores and she does not see the need to remove them from shop windows. Um, how could you not understand why these offensive inanimate objects should be binned? (more…)
