Mica Arganaraz Wears a ‘Hideous’ Gucci Dress on This ‘Train Wreck’ Cover of Vogue Japan (Forum Buzz)

We’ve built up a love/hate relationship with Vogue Japan lately. The magazine either tempts us with stunning covers or fails to excite with mediocre or horrifyingly bad alternatives. Last month’s cover featuring Binx Walton left our forum members with mixed feelings and this month’s offering leaves us with the exact same sentiments. Mica Arganaraz fronts the July issue (after having covered the likes of Vogue Paris and Vogue Germany), with Anna Dello Russo selecting a disaster of a Gucci dress for the Argentinean beauty to wear in the shot, photographed by Richard Burbridge.

The vast majority of our forum members weren’t buying it. “HIDEOUS! Can’t look at this for more than two seconds,” exclaimed a horrified anbale32 the moment the cover dropped.

“That awful Gucci dress!” added an equally horrified madzedre. (more…)

Edita Vilkeviciute and Vogue Spain Deliver the Perfect Summer Cover for June (Forum Buzz)

There’s no denying that Vogue Spain has been KILLING IT with its covers in 2016. The mag gave us diversity and delivered bold and beautiful covers this year, and isn’t showing any signs of slowing down just yet. Welcoming back an old favorite, Edita Vilkeviciute is the publication’s cover girl for June. Photographed by Benny Horne, the Lithuanian beauty looks at ease among the picturesque coves of the Amalfi Coast, showing off her toned physique in a black swimsuit.

Forum members were on board with the stunning cover. “Simply beautiful and very easily a strong contender for the best June cover this year. Cannot believe they’ve managed to class it up to Porter territory!” Benn98 applauded straight away.

“Whoa, they have been killing it this year! Another stunning cover, and I love seeing Edita always! A must buy for me, once again!” declared a delighted Miss Dalloway. (more…)

If Kim Kardashian Says Contouring Is Over, It Must Be True

Thank you British Vogue for having me at the festival yesterday with my doll @ctilburymakeup

Out with the old, in with the new: “Nontouring” has officially replaced contouring as the premier feature-defining beauty trend. Kim Kardashian West, once the outspoken face of the technique, officially heralded its death during her appearance at this past Saturday’s Vogue Festival alongside fellow makeup enthusiast Charlotte Tilbury and editor-at-large Fiona Golfar.

Wanna see how @scottbarnes68 contours?!

While Kim had the luxury of touting the time-consuming trend on a much more daily basis than those of us sans glam team and red carpet bookings, she too seems to have tired of the pretense and effort required. She even forwent makeup when she gave birth to Saint (to those of you who don’t Keep Up, for Nori she was in full glam). (more…)

Candice Swanepoel Delights in Givenchy’s Dahlia Divin Le Nectar Ad Campaign (Forum Buzz)

As the mainline Spring 2016 campaigns begin to disappear from the pages of our favorite glossies, the summer fragrance campaigns are now here for us to deliberate over. Lexi Boling for Prada’s Candy Kiss won over our forum members and now Givenchy’s new fragrance campaign does exactly the same. Candice Swanepoel, a model who is familiar to the iconic French fashion house, was tapped by Creative Director Riccardo Tisci to serve as the face of Givenchy’s Dahlia Divin Le Nectar perfume. Photographed by Peter Lindbergh with Carine Roitfeld on styling duties, Candice was captured on the sand dunes of Abu Dhabi for a series of campaign images.

Our forums welcomed the sight of the campaign with open arms. “That first image is gorgeous and is giving me neo-J’adore Dior with Carmen Kass vibes!” pointed out dior_couture1245 the moment the images dropped.

“Couldn’t have said it better. It’s like Mad Max meets J’adore Dior, I’m obsessed and Candice looks great here. Possibly the best I’ve ever seen her?” questioned marsnoop2 in response. (more…)

Olivier Rousteing’s New Nike Collab Is Most Definitely #Goals

Rihanna’s latest Puma Creeper colorways are out any day, Raf Simons and Adidas just wowed us with the perfect metallic Stan Smiths for summer and, while Nike’s newly-dropped Air Presto Ultra Flyknits are the stuff of our athlesiure dreams, it seemed as though the sportswear giant was falling a tad behind on its celebrity collaboration slash fashion sneaker game.

That is, until Balmain creative director Olivier Rousteing took to Instagram yesterday to tease his upcoming NikeLab collection, out June 2. The social media-savvy fashion wunderkind and Kardashian favorite follows in the footsteps of Givenchy’s Riccardo Tisci, who’s ideated several lines for the Swoosh. Tisci’s most recent collection, NikeLab x RT: Training Redefined, is a masterful two-part release featuring pieces in the Italian designer’s signature black and white color combo, along with stunning floral and kaleidoscope prints — but we can’t get our hands on it until July. Listen Up Brands: Aerie’s Sales Have Been Thriving Since It Ditched Photoshop

This is a healthy body too.

A photo posted by barbie ferreira not nox (@barbienox) on

While pollsters scramble to figure out what exactly it is that gets us millennials to shell out our cash, Aerie’s got us consumers all figured out. The solution, in fact, is quite simple: When it comes to bodies, don’t lie to us — show us the non-digitally altered truth. Show us a spectrum of healthy sizes, so we really believe you’ve got our best interests at heart.

While many fashion brands are merely surviving, Aerie, American Eagle’s lingerie sub-brand, is thriving. Two years ago, it nixed the use of airbrushing in its ad campaigns, a self-love movement that would come to be known as #AerieReal. Since then, the brand’s sales have soared steadily. Numbers don’t lie: The brand is now reporting a whopping 32 percent increase in sales in the first fiscal quarter of 2016.

To put this figure in perspective, during the first fiscal quarter of 2015, the brand saw 12 percent sales growth. By the end of the year, overall sales had increased by 20 percent. In short, 2016 is shaping up to be a stellar year for the swimsuit and lingerie peddler. (more…)
