Model Luna Bijl Returns to the Cover of Vogue Paris for the Second Time in Three Months (Forum Buzz)

We couldn’t have been more underwhelmed with both the cover and contents of Vogue Paris’ supposedly spectacular September issue. Thankfully, French Vogue has unveiled its new October cover, which certainly compensates for last month’s disappointment. Emmanuelle Alt has clearly set her gaze on model Luna Bijl since giving her the August cover and now the editor has solidified her love for the Dutch newbie by welcoming her back for the October cover, just two months later. Once again photographed by David Sims, Luna looks a far cry from the 80s glamour girl she portrayed previously, opting for a more toned down Louis Vuitton look.

Members of our forums embraced Luna’s achievement. “I love seeing the same model on the cover again, but styled in such different ways each time,” said tigerrouge.

“Really strong cover. Young and casually chic, without all the annoying characteristics of the typical SM/IG trappings that so many magazines have fallen prey to nowadays when they try to do ‘youth’. And Luna’s a natural — tomboyish-gorgeous one moment and 80s-smouldering the next. Like a young Carré Otis. She’s what the handlers can only wish Kendall could be like; there’s so much energy, so much mystery and so much life in her eyes— unlike the deadness in Kendall’s. She’s the real thing, and I’m glad Emmanuelle is pushing for her,” championed Phuel(more…)

A video posted by Vanessa (@haartraum) on

Today in the world of weirdly soothing videos brought to you by #theInternet, allow us to present (drumroll, please) the bun drop. Following in the footsteps of viral beauty trends like hidden rainbow hair and braid piercing, slow-motion videos of people undoing their tightly wound buns and letting their Rapunzel-like hair whirl downwards in a maelstrom of magnificence are taking Instagram by storm. (The hashtag #bundrop now has 1074 posts and counting.)

Scroll down to behold the mesmerizing beauty that is the bun drop and further enter into the catatonic state that is Monday mornings.

Also, if there are any scientists reading, we highly recommend recruiting these young women for a study of their keratin production centers. If they don’t hold the key to the next Rogaine, nothing does. (more…)

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley Looks Dreamy on Harper’s Bazaar Australia (Forum Buzz)

Thank Yeezy those tired Kimye reprints for every global edition of Harper’s Bazaar are set the disappear from newsstands worldwide, as each edition of the title starts revealing their October 2016 offerings. If there’s one thing about our forums, it’s that we sure do love a good cover appearance from Rosie Huntington-Whiteley. She recently took our breath away on British Harper’s Bazaar and now stuns on Aussie Bazaar‘s latest. Returning to the cover for a third time, Rosie posed in Dior before the lens of Pamela Hanson, serving up a soft and dreamy shot for us to admire.

Yet it appears the majority of our forum members are a little over it. “I know people will get mad about this but that’s my opinion, so I’m going to say it: I’m REALLY tired of seeing covers like this with Rosie: she doesn’t do anything, she is just there. Yes, Rosie’s very beautiful and yes she has been working for years but to me she has been resting on her genes and her external beauty her whole career!” Bertrando3 ranted.

“Agree with the people that say they are tired of Rosie. At least the expression is something different then her normal pouty ‘look at my sexy lips’ face I guess,” pointed out JesseDillon. (more…)

Anja Rubik Slays in Anthony Vaccarello’s Debut Saint Laurent Collection Teaser (Forum Buzz)

Anthony Vaccarello is set to show his highly-anticipated debut collection for Saint Laurent during Paris Fashion Week, but he has given us a sneak peek at what is to come by unveiling a teaser image featuring Anja Rubik, weeks before the actual runway show. After releasing a series of images back in June featuring a handful of bare-faced models wearing next to nothing, Vaccarello’s latest as creative director has a bit more to look at in terms of fashion. Anja (a long-term friend and muse of Vaccarello) turns up the sex appeal and poses on a bridge above the River Seine in Paris, photographed by Inez van Lamsweerde & Vinoodh Matadin.

The image left our forums divided in their opinion. “This is so good. Can’t wait to see more of it!” exclaimed Fotoholic24.

“Anja is perfect for YSL,” declared narcyza. (more…)

Marc Jacobs’ Spring 2017 Runway Was Inclusive and Alienating at the Same Darn Time

We love Marc Jacobs for his reliably diverse runways, his political activism and, of course, his contributions to fashion. However, like many hip designers who draw their influence from “the streets,” Jacobs occasionally lets his white privilege show. Such was the case at his Spring 2017 presentation last night, where Jacobs sent white models like Bella Hadid, Kendall Jenner and Adriana Lima down the runway wearing multicolored wool dreadlocks atop their heads, calling the decision a nod to rave — rather than Rastafarian — culture.

Kate Moss Trumps Gigi Hadid in the Cover Stakes for Dazed’s 25th Anniversary Issue (Forum Buzz)

Dazed is a magazine that doesn’t usually receive much recognition on our forums, but with a cover subject like Gigi Hadid staring back at us from the front cover, how could we not take a look? The title celebrates its landmark 25th anniversary in publication this month and has gone all-out by delivering a selection of covers for us to choose from. Gigi came up first, followed by covers with Kate Moss, FKA Twigs and Pamela Anderson. Only a magazine like Dazed would serve up Gigi under some bed sheets, a hint of her face and body peeking out, while Harper’s Bazaar opted for a conservative close-up portrait.

However, Dazed‘s new cover failed to put the majority of our forum members in a celebratory mood. “Wow, something whimsical and mysterious for Dazed! Very fitting for their anniversary cover. Don’t care for Gigi, but this is a tremendous shot! All the elements came together rather nicely,” approved Benn98 straight away.

“Quite a nice cover but she could be anyone! I think Rankin did a great job at making her unrecognizable,” laughed KissMiss. (more…)
