You’d Never Know This Was Jessica Biel on Marie Claire’s Overly-Photoshopped August Cover

You have to hand it to Marie Claire this month for securing a beautiful, yet underexposed, cover star. After delivering a wonderful Chrissy Teigen cover last month, actress Jessica Biel greets us on the front of the August 2017 edition, shot by Txema Yeste, wearing a show-stopping metallic Mugler top teamed with Dolce & Gabbana embroidered jeans.

Our forum members barely recognized Jessica. “LOL, that could be anyone! I definitely wouldn’t have recognized her. It looks like they morphed her face with Kate Beckinsale’s or some other,” exclaimed mistress_f.

“She looks entirely unrecognizable. I wouldn’t have any idea who this is, if I came across it at a newsstand. She looks a little like a young Catherine Keener…?” quipped happycanadian. (more…)

Dilone Is All Smiles on Her First Vogue Cover (for Vogue Mexico)

Vogue Mexico has been riding a wave of success lately. The magazine made Adwoa Aboah look better than ever before, killed it with a trio of Lara Stone covers and made us weak at the knees for Edita Vilkeviciute last month. For July 2017, the Mexican title continues the trend of featuring big-name models with its latest Dilone cover. Photographed by Katja Rahlwes, Dilone (who was part of Allure‘s monumental diversity cover back in April) is all smiles as she makes her first Vogue cover appearance.

Our forum members were disappointed by this month’s offering. “Vogue Turkey?” asked MON upon seeing the cover, suggesting the magazine had let standards slip.

“It looks very cheap,” added narcyza. (more…)

Gigi Hadid Shows Off a Dramatic New Look in Stuart Weitzman’s Fall 2017 Campaign

There are no signs of Stuart Weitzman ever changing his obviously winning campaign formula, as he welcomes back Gigi Hadid for her fourth consecutive season. First, there was Natalia Vodianova, then came Kate Moss, followed by Gisele Bündchen, who was ultimately replaced by Gigi. Also making a return for Fall 2017 is famed photographer Mario Testino, who helps showcase Gigi’s pixie-cut wig (and the high-end shoe designer’s new collection, of course) in the black and white campaign images.

Gigi’s new look, however, fell flat with our horrified forum members. “Great from the shoulders down, but that cropped hairdo isn’t working, she looks like Ellen DeGeneres,” exclaimed Nymphaea straight away.

“Yes! It looks really funny, I just can’t take this seriously,” replied a less than impressed dodencebt. (more…)

This Is Why Bruce Weber Shouldn’t Be Shooting Yet Another Louis Vuitton Campaign

Nicolas Ghesquière has made it quite clear since joining Louis Vuitton as creative director that he’s a fan of Bruce Weber. The legendary American photographer has captured Ghesquière’s mainline campaigns since day one (often while disappointing our forum members). Weber, unsurprisingly, returns for the Fall 2017 campaign to shoot Ghesquière’s usual handful of muses. The impressive cast includes Catherine Deneuve (who looks sensational), Riley Keough, Jaden Smith, Sophie Turner and models Natalie Westling and Sora Choi, amongst others.

Members of our forums were left dumbfounded by the lazy and tiresome result. “Wow, not good. I can’t believe this is the campaign for LV,” expressed a stunned Scotty straight away.

“A bad collection with a bad campaign. Exactly what this trash ‘collection’ deserves,” GivenchyHomme slammed. (more…)

Givenchy’s Fall Campaign Hints at What to Expect From New Creative Director Clare Waight Keller

If you haven’t heard already, Riccardo Tisci is out at Givenchy and former Chloé creative director Clare Waight Keller is in. Though Keller’s first collection for the iconic French fashion house won’t be shown until October during Paris Fashion Week, her aesthetic and outlook for Givenchy’s future can be found in the newly unveiled “Transformation Seduction” campaign for Fall 2017. Also ousted was photographic duo Mert Alas & Marcus Piggott, in favor of the incomparable Steven Meisel, who captured rising stars Saffron Vadher, Meghan Roche and male models Elias Bouremah and Kolton Bowen (along with some feline companions) on location at a private manor house in New York City for the dramatic black and white images.

Surprisingly, the campaign received mixed feedback on our forums. “I really don’t like this, it could easily be shot by Hedi Slimane, it just feels flat, and insipid!” critiqued Miss Dalloway upon seeing the images for the first time.

“Not terribly impressed so far. We have seen the cat thing numerous times already and we all know Choupette did it better,” added Vitamine W. (more…)

Gisele Bündchen’s Faux Fur Cover of Vogue Paris Causes Controversy on Our Forums

Vogue Paris editor-in-chief Emmanuelle Alt may have her favorite cover stars, yet we hardly imagined seeing Gisele Bündchen appear two months in a row on the French fashion bible. After a striking June/July cover, everyone’s favorite Brazilian bombshell returns, photographed by Inez van Lamsweerde & Vinoodh Matadin. Gisele appears holding a baby kangaroo while wearing a faux fur coat on the August issue promoting animal-friendly alternatives to real fur in the fashion industry.

Unlike last month, our forum members weren’t here for Gisele’s latest. “The hell? Can this be Alt’s last cover since Gisele was on her first? Pretty please,” begged HeatherAnne the second the cover surfaced.

WilliamsLe010919 agreed, saying, “Two covers back to back? Too much, Alt! There are other models working too you know.” (more…)
