Donald Trump is the inspiration behind the above tee, currently retailing for $25 at Google Ghost. Fifty percent of all proceeds from sales of the shirt will go to benefit Planned Parenthood. How is it that Trump would help create anything that benefits an organization dedicated to promoting women’s reproductive health, you ask? In her designs, the ready-to-wear artist formerly known as Posh Spice follows the mantra of the musical group that brought her to fame (You know the one: “Girl power!”). Victoria Beckham’s pieces are cut to flatter and comfort. They’re chic yet wearable, alluring yet understated (hello, comfy flats and velvet separates). That said, they are damn expensive, which is why, when Becks revealed she’d be the latest designer to collaborate with Target on a limited-edition collection, we fell to our knees thanking the fashion gods.
“The timing just felt right,” Beckham told Business of Fashion. “I’ve made no secret of the fact that I wanted to put a collection out there for people who either can’t afford designer prices or don’t want to pay designer prices.”
The collection will hit Target’s racks and website, as well as Victoria Beckham’s online boutique (so as not to exclude international fans), beginning April 9. It’ll be available in stores until April 30 or until supplies run out. The retail giant’s designer collaborations usually have a shelf life of about a day (tops), so plan accordingly.
Inspired by silhouettes from the designer’s Victoria, Victoria Beckham line, the range includes over 200 pieces priced between — wait for it — $6 and $70. The majority of the apparel and accessories will ring in below $40. “It’s quite girly, fun, happy,” Victoria told BoF. “I’ve always said [the VVB collection] is the other side to my personality, it’s the other half of my suitcase. The fun side of me.” Expect rompers, easy-to-wear dresses and flirty tops in a spring-apropos palette: soft pastels, bright pops of color and feminine prints. Last week, Australian model Anthea Page took to social media to reveal she had contracted golden staph from a makeup brush while on set during Sydney Fashion Week. How you choose between such an insanely talented group we’ll never know, but one lucky winner will receive a monetary prize of $400,000. The two runners-up will walk with $150,000. Regardless, with the news that Delta employees’ uniforms are getting a revamp courtesy of one Zac Posen, maker of glow-in-the-dark Met Gala gowns and evaluator of Project Runway contestants, we’re seriously considering taking to the skies in style.
Yesterday, in Atlanta (where Delta Air Lines is based), the partnership unveiled the new collection via a catwalk show (natch). Comprised of about four dozen or so looks, the new range will be worn by about 60,000 Delta employees (ticket and gate agents, Sky Club and flight attendants, technicians — mainly those employees who fliers see). Employees will be allotted points with which to purchase their outfits. Dresses, skirts, blazers, coats, shirts and pants will be assigned different values and employees can mix and match as they so choose, because personal style.
“We wanted Delta employees to look glamorous on the job without sacrificing functionality and style,” said Posen of the uniforms. “I worked alongside employees to understand how they interact with the clothes they wear and developed a look that empowers and excites, because we want Delta’s global workforce to exude the confidence and thoughtfulness that reflects the airline’s brand.”(more…)
