Anna Wintour Gives Us Another Model on the Cover of Vogue This Year! (Forum Buzz)

Christmas has come early after Vogue gives us yet another model on the cover this year. First there was the spectacular three-model cover from September and now to our amazement, Natalia Vodianova graces the November issue wearing an intricate piece from Chanel’s resort collection. Annie Leibovitz shot the Russian beauty at the Palais Garnier in Paris alongside Natalie Portman’s husband, Benjamin Millepied. Natalia is no stranger to fronting American Vogue alone, covering the July issue back in 2007.

Members of our forums are naturally ecstatic to see a model on Vogue‘s cover. “No way!! Another model on the cover of US Vogue? What is happening to this world?” questioned an elated Oxymore.

“I can’t believe they’re having a model on the cover again; it’s so exciting! Natalia is such a force!” raved Nepenthes.

“Wow. This is definitely shocking! I’m not a massive Natalia fan – she’s hit or miss for me – but I think she looks beautiful here and I’m extremely happy to see a model on the cover of US Vogue. I bet it’ll look fantastic on the newsstands,” enthused a surprised happycanadian.

Yet when the excitement died down, forum members began to pick faults with the cover image. “While I applaud having a model on the cover, especially OG. Vodianova, just like on Vanity Fair, doesn’t sell this to me. It’s not [an] exciting cover image,” shared an underwhelmed Miss Dalloway.

A.D.C. even suggested another cover girl for the issue: “Natalia is my ultimate favorite… But even I can’t help but think that if they were gonna give a model an only girl cover Daria Werbowy probably deserved one since Natalia already has one under her belt and three front covers.”

“Is it a bad light or too much Photoshop? Natalia’s face doesn’t look okay. And I don’t like this color of her hair.. It’s so cheap,” disapproved narcyza.

So, there we have it. Models don’t always make for the best magazine covers. See inside the thread for Natalia’s cover story as well as some of the fashion content. Don’t forget to add your own two cents here, too.

Cara Delevingne and Pharrell Recorded a Song

It seems that no area of the entertainment realm will be untouched by Cara Delevingne. The model and aspiring actress is both rumored and confirmed to be involved in quite a few film projects, so many that it’s easy to lose count. She just snagged a role in an adaptation of the YA Novel Paper Towns, is rumored to be the next Bond Girl plus she’s going to be in the upcoming Pan movie. With all these acting roles on her plate plus her modeling duties, it’s a wonder that Cara has time for other career pursuits. But it turns out the model is more of a multitasker than we originally thought.

In addition to being a budding actress, Cara’s also got a pretty good singing voice and according to the Telegraph, she’s putting it in the hands of Pharrell Williams, who worked with the model on her debut single. A source tells The Sun that Pharrell and Cara plan to pop their latest collaboration on us in the very near future. “They’re going to release the song without warning, complete with video and global launch. They seem to have formed a great little writing collective and apparently it’s a huge song.”

We have no doubts that it will get a lot of buzz — Pharrell is one of the hottest music producers working right now and Cara’s at the top of her game in the fashion world. Their names are individually bound to bring attention to any project. Together, well, that’s a whole new juggernaut of celebrity and certainly a lot of press.

We can’t wait to see what hitmaker Pharrell and Cara release. We’ll definitely be keeping our ears to the ground on this one!

Jennifer Hawkins Wears a Confusing Outfit While at Work with Jean Paul Gaultier

Jennifer Hawkins has confused us in her latest getup, mixing prints, colours, and, well, eras and styles, for an Australia’s Next Top Model elimination today alongside guest judge Jean Paul Gaultier. We’re just not really sure what kind of look she was going for, because there was so much going on with her outfit.

The 30-year-old model donned a pink, purple and black one-shoulder crop with frill detail to show off her toned midriff area, teamed with a monochromatic splash-print midi skirt. As if the look wasn’t playful and in-your-face enough already, Jennifer decided to add strappy heels and 80s-style comb-over waves.

Her fresh makeup and tanned skin looked amazing, undoubtedly thanks to her new J Bronze by Jennifer Hawkins tanning range. Confusingly, that also made her look like a beach babe, in conjunction with the salsa-dancer-meets-80s-school-girl vibes she was already putting out.

Cate Blanchett, Karolina Kurkova, Adriana Lima and More Front IWC Schaffhausen’s Latest Campaign

portofino-l1

IWC Schaffhausen is trying to woo the ladies. The Swiss luxury watch brand has launched a new collection of watches geared toward both men and women, the Portofino Midsize collection, a spinoff of its wildly popular Portofino range. The timepieces caught on quite well and now, IWC is taking the watch and sizing it slightly smaller to appeal to those members of both genders with smaller wrists, or those with a taste for a more compact watch.

Each watch in this 27-piece range boasts a slightly smaller face. The old version clocked in at 40mm, while this one is a bit more modest at 37mm. IWC went all-out for the campaign promoting the new line, tapping Cate Blanchett, Adriana Lima, Karolina Kurkova, Ewan McGregor, Zhou Xun, Christoph Waltz and Emily Blunt to appear in the advertisements. Peter Lindbergh and the gang traveled to Portofino to capture the campaign, which boasts images of leisurely drives, intimate garden parties and a little sightseeing to boot.

Check out images from the campaign below. (more…)
