Mixed Feelings About Reese Witherspoon’s October Vogue Cover (Forum Buzz)

Our Cover Rumor Thread has been on fire these past few weeks with speculation regarding Vogue‘s October cover, which ultimately went to Reese Witherspoon. The actress was snapped wearing a summery red dress (don’t forget, it’s an October issue!) by Mikael Jansson.

The cover has received mixed reactions from our forum members. “Not as tragic as I had expected it to be…certainly better than the model cover, but ehhh wake me up when Angie shows up,” commented Fiercification, referring to rumors that Angelina Jolie is fronting an upcoming issue of Vogue.

“She is prettier on paparazzi pics than on this cover. Looks old, back to the Nineties,” shared Nymphaea.

Bertrando3 made his judgment clear, too: “It looks really bad! So so so old looking, it really looks like a cover from [the] 1990s but not the good part of that era. Plus, Reese is such a boring actress, she’s just a pretty girl and among her many Vogue covers this one may be her worst, she looks emotion-less and not pretty to me. The styling is a snooze fest and yeah basically it’s really not a good cover.”

On the other hand, a select few actually admired the cover. “Really good cover! I usually don’t care for her, but she looks really interesting in this cover! She’s demanding my attention! Great cover US Vogue!” enthused miguelalmeida.

Preferring this to the model cover from September was fluxxx, who wrote, “It’s an OK cover. I prefer this one over September’s cover. It looks so early 2000s.”

“Really gorgeous cover, I love it,” raved Marc10.

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West Ruined Paris Fashion Week for Everyone

Kim Kardashian, Kanye West: It’s time to retire from Paris Fashion Week.

The shows are coming to a close, and while we’ve seen beautiful collections and stunning outfits, it seems that the couple’s exploits have overshadowed the fashion. Yes, Fashion Week is a media circus no matter where you go, but we’re starting to think that Kim and Kanye’s celebrity is causing more of a fuss at these events than need be.

Things started OK for the couple when they stepped out to see Balenciaga on Wednesday with their daughter North. But the week began to turn sour right before the Balmain show, when Kim was attacked by celebrity prankster Vitalii Sediuk, who attempted to pull the reality star to the ground as she made her way through a crowd of paparazzi and curious onlookers. At Lanvin, the pair held up the show for 40 minutes, which got them booed once they finally arrived. Kanye explained to the boisterous photographer pit that Alber Elbaz requested to see them pre-show, which is why they were so late.

The drama didn’t end there for the duo. The events of this week must have had Kimye’s bodyguards on edge because sources say that the couple’s security team got rough with attendees at last night’s Givenchy show. Apparently, the bodyguards were shoving fashion folk left and right, treating them like crazed fans as opposed to people just trying to go home after a late night at work. “One fashion editor didn’t move fast enough [at the exit] and was physically shoved by one of Kimye’s guards,” a guest told Page Six. “The guard threatened to punch her.”

Caroline Trentini Wears ‘Hideous’ Dior Dress on Vogue Brazil’s October Cover (Forum Buzz)

As a handful of November issues trickle into our forums, the last of the October covers continue to surface. Vogue Brazil is the latest offering to be discussed with Caroline Trentini posing on the front cover for Arthur Elgort, who captured the blond beauty against a white background wearing a Christian Dior dress designed by Raf Simons. Styled by Yasmine Sterea, Caroline gazes down the lens with one hand on her hip and the other behind her back.

Members of our forums share mixed opinions. “From the neck up she looks stunning but the styling and layout are awful. The pose is horrible as well, the missing right hand gives a gory vibe,” shared kokobombon, kicking off the thread on a less than positive note.

“Not the best cover but I’m really taken by her beauty here, that’s about it. The outfit is hideous, and the text placement all wrong. Nice to see Trentini again,” posted Benn98.

Also uncertain about Vogue Brazil’s latest offering was marsnoop2, who wrote, “I don’t like the dress, but she looks very beautiful and quite fresh. The biggest thing that bothers me is the amputated hand, why do magazine editors love amputating limbs?”

GIVENCHYlover made his feelings toward the Dior dress clear: “I don’t like the dress!”

“I don’t like the dress either but it’s not a bad cover,” replied TeeVanity.

While narcyza admired the cover, she shared everyone’s sentiments about the dress: “I like it. Cover with Caroline, it’s simple and chic. I don’t [like] the Dior dress too but the pose, fresh makeup and pretty color palette are quite nice. By the way I’m glad to see Caroline, it was a long time from her previous main cover.”

With thanks to forum member Zorka, Caroline’s cover story can be viewed inside the thread as well as the rest of the fashion content. Check them out and get involved in the discussion here.

Charlotte Casiraghi’s Gucci Cosmetics Ad Campaign Is Finally Here! (Forum Buzz)

As reported back in May on our forums, Charlotte Casiraghi is the face of Gucci‘s new cosmetics line. The brunette beauty, who’s the fifth in line to the throne of Monaco, was shot by Turkish photographic duo and long-term Gucci collaborators Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott. For the first official image, Charlotte poses looking every inch the Gucci woman, holding a compact mirror from the Italian fashion house’s premiere makeup collection.

All of the right elements are present for a stimulating cosmetics ad, however, our forum members aren’t so sure. “I thought she only fronts the limited-edition ranges for Gucci. These are too literal and underwhelming, but the first shot is OK,” commented Benn98.

“I was actually excited when I first heard about this, but now that I’m seeing it, I’m a bit underwhelmed,” shared justaguy.

Also left unimpressed with the campaign shot was GIVENCHYlover, who posted, “So amateurish!”

Forum member loladonna questioned whether or not Charlotte was the right choice for Gucci: “No way would she be in this campaign if she weren’t royal.” She then went on to say, “It looks like one of those commercial ads that try to look like high fashion ads.”

“Very 70s style, but is not the best campaign,” noted burbuja8910.

Miuccia Prada Is Being Investigated

Miuccia Prada

Miuccia Prada is in the hot seat. According to WWD, the designer and her husband, Patrizio Bertelli, are being investigated by Italian authorities for unethical tax practices, including possibly setting up subsidiaries in the Netherlands and Luxembourg in order to secure a more favorable tax rate.

The news first made headlines in December 2013 when Prada announced the completion of a voluntary disclosure procedure that “completely satisfied the claims of the Italian Tax Authority.” That basically entailed forking over approximately $643.9 million in back taxes. One month later, the company denied being under investigation, but it looks like the tide has turned.

Currently, Italy is working on a law to promote voluntary disclosures that would result in fines rather than penal consequences, which are hanging over companies like Dolce & Gabbana

Ladies, it’s time to find a new imaginary boo. George Clooney, the guy we thought would be a bachelor for life, tied the knot this weekend with Amal Amaluddin, a wedding that’s been the talk of the tabs all weekend. The couple invited family and a smattering of famous friends to witness the nuptials, which went down in Venice. Four days of partying ended today in a civil ceremony, making Clooney and Alamluddin officially husband and wife.

Saturday night, the pair had a small ceremony at the Aman hotel with their 100-strong guest list, which included Bono, Bill Murray, Matt Damon, Cindy Crawford, Anna Wintour, Emily Blunt and John Krasinski. During the toast, Clooney was in high spirits, making a crack about one of his guests:

Yesterday, the new couple got some friends together for two meals: lunch at Cipriani and dinner at the Granaries of the Venetian Republic room – where apparently everyone got really wasted.

For today’s civil ceremony, Amal wore an ivory pantsuit and matching wide-brimmed hat for the occasion. Simple, chic perfection.

Check out these images from the  Clooney-Alamuddin wedding below. Congratulations to the new Mr. and Mrs.! (more…)
