Irina Shayk Looks ‘Awful in Every Way’ on the Cover of Numero (Forum Buzz)

The fashion industry continues to embrace Irina Shayk as a high-fashion model. She currently stars in the pages of W magazine, took to the pages of Vogue Paris a few months ago and also graced the cover of Interview Germany. Irina is now unveiled as the cover girl for Numéro‘s May 2016 issue, following in the footsteps of Gigi Hadid, Catherine McNeil and Daria Strokous. Photographed by Anthony Maule, Irina looks unrecognizable sporting a short, dark wig and an eye-catching Valentino dress in the stark and dynamic cover shot.

But the fashion-forward cover left our forum members extremely disinterested. “Nope. Just no. The hair, the heavy eye makeup and the intense pose were rendered pointless by the lifeless stare. With that look, you need a striking stare. A stare that is so intense and captivating. I see none of that here. It had all the elements of ‘fierce,’ but the stare ruined it,” complained MON at once.

“Bad cover, this hair is horrible and Irina looks uncomfortable,” Aizanara chimed in. (more…)

Binx Walton Stars on Vogue Japan’s Quirky Cover for June 2016 (Forum Buzz)

Vogue Japan served up a powerful and captivating cover of Natasha Poly last month, yet for June 2016 (yes, really, June already) the magazine takes a different direction with an overstyled Binx Walton. In a somewhat comical cover shot by Japanese Vogue regular Giampaolo Sgur and styled by Anna Dello Russo, Binx is drenched in Chanel looking like a fashionable cartoon character.

Surprisingly, the cover left our forum members with divided opinions. “Were they inspired by Didi Pickles with that hair? Oh my childhood,” proclaimed a horrified MON straight away.

“What is going on with her hair? Did they put her in a wind tunnel prior to the shoot? I can’t,” laughed AnaD. (more…)

Victoria’s Secret Is About to 86 Swimwear

Victoria's Secret to Eliminate Swimwear Line

Fashion trends from the 90s – and Noughties — may be reliving their heyday, but not when it comes to swimwear. Somewhere along the road we all stopped caring about whether our swimsuits screamed sex appeal, focusing instead on how they aligned with our overall aesthetic. Brands like Mikoh and Beth Richards popped up on the scene. We embraced our varying tastes and body types, no longer aspiring to the Victoria’s Secret standard of ab definition. Apparently, our fallen angels felt the heat — numerous sources say that Victoria’s Secret is retiring from the swimsuit game.

Though the conjecture will not be officially confirmed until the brand’s May earnings call, VS Swim devotees may want to stock up on their favorite sexy bikinis while they can. In all probability, the category will soon join the fate of the company’s erstwhile regular apparel and cosmetics lines. In a recent press release, Chairman and CEO Leslie H. Wexner stated, “Coming off a record year, now is the best time to make improvements…going to from best to even better. We are making those changes to accelerate our growth and to strengthen the business for the long term by narrowing our focus and simplifying our operating model.” This entails restructuring the brand into three business sections: Victoria’s Secret Lingerie, PINK and Victoria’s Secret Beauty. This Harper’s Bazaar Spain Cover Is the Best We’ve Seen From Alessandra Ambrosio in Ages (Forum Buzz)

She’s already starring on two covers of Vogue Brazil and now Alessandra Ambrosio takes to the cover of Harper’s Bazaar Spain. The magazine is slowly starting to recapture our attention, having impressed us last month with Bella Hadid. For the May cover, Alessandra does what she does best, posing on a bed wearing a slinky silk dress from Burberry, shot by forum favorite Txema Yeste.

Members of our forums were pretty much hooked from the onset. “Love it! Simple and beautiful,” approved Oxymore the second the cover came to light, about to set the tone for comments to come.

“One of the best covers in a while! Love it and can’t wait to see more of it,” raved Aizanara. (more…)

A ‘Lifeless’ Charlize Theron Stars on V Magazine’s Summer 2016 Cover (Forum Buzz)

We’re usually delighted to see Charlize Theron on the cover of any magazine. We fell head over heels for her recent appearance on WSJ. but V Magazine’s Summer 2016 issue featuring the actress has failed to generate any excitement in our forums. After celebrating its 100th issue this spring, the magazine has let standards slip as it serves up a tired-looking Charlize wearing Christian Dior (obviously) in a close-up lensed by Collier Schorr.

Forum members weren’t buying it, plain and simple. “I think she’s a great person but it’s always boring to see her fronting covers. She’s dull,” slammed an uninterested Creative the moment the cover dropped.

Wolkfolk wasn’t up for seeing Charlize, either, writing, “I love Charlize but I’m a bit tired to see her on all these covers, it’s bordering on overexposure at this point.” (more…)
