Helena Bonham Carter Does ‘Glamorous Cat Lady’ on UK Harper’s Bazaar’s Gorgeous June Cover (Forum Buzz)

We were half expecting to see Emilia Clarke on the cover of U.K. Harper’s Bazaar this month but were pleasantly surprised to see Helena Bonham Carter gracing the June 2016 issue instead. Making for an extremely refreshing cover subject among the sea of regular faces at the newsstand, the eccentric Brit actress wears a Burberry coat layered over a Stella McCartney dress as she braves the chilly British weather. Taking to the great outdoors for the shoot captured by photographer Tom Craig, Helena looks terrific on the cover sent out to subscribers (pictured below).

Members of our forums were thrilled with Bazaar‘s latest effort. “What a wonderfully unpredictable cover choice, and it’s just great to see a woman who will turn 50 soon, on the cover. She has such a great face, I hope the newsstand cover is good!” praised Miss Dalloway immediately.

“Wow! I can only hope the newsstand cover is this captivating,” said dodencebt. (more…)

The next time you’re feeling discouraged about your career progress, remember this: Gisele Bündchen was once told she’d never grace a magazine cover. She also faced 42 casting rejections before walking the Alexander McQueen show in 1998. We have this on record — this is not merely a ploy by the Brazilian beauty to appear relatable as she promotes her upcoming Taschen photo book, Gisele, due out May 10.

While we don’t all have the consolation prize of being willowy, naturally bronzed and blue-slash-green-eyed, it is heartening to know that the struggle is somewhat universal. When Gisele was first starting out in the fashion industry, “I remember some people telling me my nose was too big or my eyes were too small, that I could never be on a magazine cover,” the highest paid supermodel in the world confessed to People. Industry insiders need to cease bullying our Angels. (more…)

Bella Hadid Just Scored Her First Vogue Cover, Starring on Vogue Turkey for May 2016 (Forum Buzz)

Bella Hadid is doing just fine for herself on the magazine front lately, having recently starred on the cover of Harper’s Bazaar Spain and receiving rave reviews on our forums. Bella now takes to the cover of Vogue Turkey, a magazine that often falls short on our forums. Sure to garner the magazine some much-needed attention, Bella gets all dolled up in Givenchy for her first Vogue cover, shot on location by Sebastian Faena.

“Old glamour in a cheap way, not my cup of tea,” pointed out an underwhelmed Nymphaea.

“Irina Shayk is it you? I like the jewelry but not the hair. I like the fact that they tried something different with Bella but I’m not convinced. It’s a pretty cover though,” added Aizanara. (more…)

Stella McCartney vs. Polo Ralph Lauren: Who Won the Olympic Apparel Games?

Stella McCartney releases her designs for Rio 2106.

Image: Stella McCartney for Adidas

Three months out, there’s much about the Rio 2016 Summer Olympics that remains up in the air. Will athletes contract the Zika virus and be unable to perform? (Approximately 1.5 million Brazilians were infected last year.) Will the pollution-ravaged Guanabara Bay be clean before the sailing competition? (Ricardo Leyser, Brazil’s new sports minister, says not entirely.) Will the nation’s political unrest have subsided? (President Dilma Rousseff is on the brink of being ousted for corruption.) Will the stadium even be ready? (A recently constructed elevated bike path collapsed last week, killing two, but Leyser holds that the facilities are safe, sound and well on the road to complete, barring any major delays.)

…But thanks to Stella McCartney for Adidas and Polo Ralph Lauren, we know what the (repellant-anointed) British and American athletes will be wearing, respectively. (more…)

Léa Seydoux’s First Campaign for Louis Vuitton Kind of Misses the Point (Form Buzz)

As announced back in January, Léa Seydoux is one of the latest actresses to join Louis Vuitton’s ever-growing list of ambassadors. Joining the likes of Alicia Vikander and Michelle Williams, the French beauty’s first campaign for the iconic fashion house has been unveiled for our pleasure. Fronting Vuitton’s seasonal Spirit of Travel campaign, Léa looks right at home before the lens of photographer Patrick Demarchelier. The team descended on a modern ranch situated in Mexico City for the occasion as Léa models an array of handbags designed and reimagined by Nicolas Ghesquière, which complement the very vibrant surroundings.

Members of our forums weren’t very excited about Léa’s new gig with Vuitton, however. “An overall bad combination. She worked better for Prada and Miu Miu,” disapproved GivenchyHomme the moment the campaign dropped.

“She is beautiful even if it’s weird not seeing her as the sophisticated woman she was for Prada,” added Lola701. (more…)
