Gigi Hadid Bares All for Allure’s December Issue (Forum Buzz)

Allure‘s new Editor-in-Chief Michelle Lee churned out some pretty fantastic covers this year. Amanda Seyfried delighted on last month’s cover and now girl-of-the-moment Gigi Hadid closes out the year for December. Following in the footsteps of sister Bella who covered the March issue, Gigi was captured by master photographer Patrick Demarchelier for the occasion. Giving us major hair envy in the soft and dreamy image, Gigi tosses her curls over her shoulder while wearing a pink lace Gucci dress and going sans clothes inside the magazine’s upcoming edition.

Yet Allure‘s latest wasn’t enough to impress the majority of our forum members. “Oh for crying out loud, she is now beyond overused! She doesn’t look bad but I don’t like anything about this! The fake baby doll hair, underwear showing or her makeup!” exclaimed a far from impressed Miss Dalloway.

“Yes, however passable it may look, I’m positively fed-up seeing her on every cover. Also, ‘Gigi bares all’? Saw it all on Vogue Paris earlier this year. I applaud Allure for using more models, but can we use someone other than Kendall, Gigi and Bella?” asked Benn98. (more…)

Sisters Edie and Olympia Campbell Come Together on Vogue Germany’s Distinctly Wintry December Cover (Forum Buzz)

When it comes to December covers, magazines should be able to let loose in terms of creativity and close out the year on a high while setting standards for the following year. This year, however, December covers haven’t exactly pushed boundaries so far. Vogue Germany just gave us its interpretation of holiday festivities with sisters Edie and Olympia Campbell, who pose on the final cover of 2016. Photographed by Boo George, the duo looks ready for a colder climate wrapped up in chunky knits and wool pants.

The cover seemed to be an instant hit in our forums. “WOW, I LOVE this! Unexpected styling we don’t see often on the cover, and it’s so much better than their first cover together. The more of Boo George, and his beautiful melancholy photography, the better!” complimented a more than satisfied Miss Dalloway.

“Same here! The girls both look great and I love the clean layout,” sixtdaily replied in agreement. (more…)

First Lady Michelle Obama Graces Vogue’s December Issue With ‘True Style and Beauty’ (Forum Buzz)

We forgot about fashion for a brief moment this week, with politics being everyone’s main focus of discussion. Amid the race for the presidency, our forums half-expected to see Hillary Clinton on the cover of American Vogue (because it wouldn’t have been the first time). However, Anna Wintour had someone else in her sights for December. To round off the week on a positive note, behold the magazine’s beautiful new cover featuring the world’s favorite first lady, Michelle Obama. Giving us true grace, style and effortless beauty, Michelle was photographed by master photographer Annie Leibovitz on location at the White House. Michelle looks like a goddess in a dreamy white Carolina Herrera dress — and it should come as no surprise that our forum members are left in sheer awe.

“What a beautiful cover to close the year, AND her time in the White House. The editorial is just stunning, she looks like a movie star! I will miss her intelligence, style and grace!” cheered a delighted Miss Dalloway the moment the cover struck.

“I knew it. It’s a gorgeous cover, I am so going to miss Michelle,” Scotty sighed in admiration. (more…)

Viktor & Rolf Doodle on Vogue Australia’s Cover of Julia Nobis for December 2016 (Forum Buzz)

Our forums are forever ratting out Vogue Australia for not supporting local talent (the last Aussie to appear on the cover was Gemma Ward back in January), but it appears the magazine has heard our cries. Closing out 2016 is Aussie model Julia Nobis, who returns to the cover for the December issue. In conjunction with Viktor & Rolf’s upcoming exhibition down under, Vogue Australia tapped the designers to collaborate on a cover shoot by illustrating over a clean, graphic image of Julia shot by Daniel Jackson and styled by Christine Centenera.

At first, our forum members were unsure. “I don’t like this at all, it looks too much like her Jil Sander campaign. There’s a reason we hardly ever see Julia on covers in general (not just in Australia). It’s her perpetually vacant expression, which I don’t think appeal to most readers,” stated a underwhelmed Benn98.

“I love the concept and layout but I wish for a different model, she seems to be photographed always the same way IMO. This could have been easily by Willy [Vanderperre] and Jil Sander comes to mind,” kokobombon echoed. (more…)

Kendall Jenner, Isabeli Fontana and Liu Wen Unite for La Perla’s Over-Photoshopped Spring 2017 Campaign (Forum Buzz)

This has been an outstanding year for Kendall Jenner. She’s covered numerous editions of Vogue within a short span of time and starred in campaigns for the likes of Fendi and Marc Jacobs. So it should come as no surprise that Kendall’s success is carrying into 2017 as she’s unveiled as the face of La Perla for Spring 2017, alongside fellow models Isabeli Fontana and Liu Wen. As well as switching up the casting this season, La Perla also replaced Mert and Marcus with Steven Klein to lens the eye-catching and dynamic new campaign.

Yet the majority of our forums weren’t too fond of all the changes. “Isabeli and Liu look great! However, the first girl looks bored and completely out of place. Who is she?” asked a sarcastic GivenchyHomme the moment the campaign dropped.

“What have they done to Liu’s face?” questioned a horrified jeffandtheworld. (more…)

Dree Hemingway, Birgit Kos and Others Star in Miu Miu’s Cinematic Resort 2017 Campaign (Forum Buzz)

The holiday period is upon us and we’re already starting to see the campaigns for the resort/cruise season. Michael Kors gave us Anja Rubik, Jessica Chastain held her own as the face of Prada and now it’s Miu Miu’s cinematic Resort 2017 campaign to land on our forum’s radar. Models Dree Hemingway, Cecilia Chancellor, Birgit Kos, Faretta Radic and Sara Somogyi take a midnight stroll around the streets of Rome with photographer Alasdair McLellan behind the lens and Katie Grand on styling duties.

“I actually like this, very moody, and the lighting looks great! Great for Birgit Kos,” championed Benn98. (more…)
