Karl Lagerfeld’s Photography Doesn’t Do Marine Vatch Justice in the New Chanel Cruise Campaign

Karl Lagerfeld sure does love his muses and Marine Vacth is the latest brand ambassador to land a coveted Chanel campaign. Following in the footsteps of Kristen Stewart, Cara Delevingne, Arizona Muse and Luna Bijl, the French actress cements her status as a Lagerfeld favorite by becoming the face of Chanel’s Cruise 2018 collection. To mark the occasion, Karl captured Vacth with a cropped hairstyle against a beautiful studio backdrop — with Vacth doing very little in the images.

Our forum members immediately turned to their favorite Lagerfeld topic: questioning whether his photography skills were up to scratch. “Yes to Marine, no to Karl’s photography,” stated Ed at once.

“Marine is such a stunning woman in person. Her eyes are stunning, these photos don’t do her justice,” chimed in maxlinden. (more…)

Brie Larson’s Three Covers for Porter Winter 2017 Are the Best She’s Ever Looked

Is Porter about to break its streak of awkward-looking covers? We sure hope so as the publication gets us hyped for the Winter 2017 issue. Our forums have been huge champions of everything Porter since its 2014 debut but the magazine has allowed standards to slip over recent months. Thankfully, there seems to be a glimmer of hope with the unveiling of three new covers featuring Oscar-winning actress Brie Larson, photographed by Camilla Akrans. Celebrating “incredible women,” Brie wears Gucci in the first of two newsstand covers (below) and Emilia Wickstead in the second (after the jump). Porter opted for a stunning and commanding close-up for the limited cover for subscribers (pictured further down this page).

The majority of our forum members were quick to give their approval. “These are beautiful. My favorite covers for a while. The second is so modern, particularly for a celebrity cover. Never seen Brie Larson look this good either!” championed mercyminx.

“I like them both! Finally something flawless and classic Porter. They should work more often with Camilla. Never thought of Brie as a classic beauty, her style is much cooler, but she looks great here,” noted Benn98. (more…)

Dakota Johnson’s Stiff and Uncomfortable Vogue Spain Cover Misses the Mark

Vogue Spain practically received a standing ovation on our forums last month for its Bella Hadid cover (after she’d covered just about every other edition of Vogue for September with mixed success). Now, Dakota Johnson (current muse of Alessandro Michele) fronts the October 2017 issue, playing coy while wearing a rhinestone-covered Gucci (obvi) bodysuit in the cover image lensed by Emma Summerton. Was the cover enough to continue the magazine’s winning streak?

Unfortunately, the cover wasn’t enough to please our forum members. “What an odd and random choice and what a try-hard cover. Are they Lui now? Reminds me of a cheaper version of that Linda Evangelista cover by Meisel for Vogue Italia. And why does it look as if she were added to the photo? The head and shadows look so fake,” said MON at once.

“This could have been a stellar cover with a great model and better execution,” pointed out KissMiss. (more…)

Vittoria Ceretti’s True Beauty Shines Through on Vogue Korea’s Impeccable October Covers

It seems as if Vittoria Ceretti can do no wrong lately. A firm favorite of Steven Meisel (and ours after that impeccable Vogue Italia cover), the Italian beauty has dominated the fashion world since arriving on the scene and now makes her debut on Vogue Korea for October 2017. Photographed by Hyea W. Kang, the current face of Zara gives us a major staredown in cover one (below), looking both graceful and poised in head-to-toe Prada. The magazine went one step further with cover two (after the jump), opting for a stunning and raw black and white portrait of Vittoria.

Malgosia Bela’s Latest Cover Proves Vogue Ukraine Is One to Watch

Vogue Ukraine often doesn’t receive the recognition it deserves, yet for most of this year, our forums have been singing the magazine’s praises. For October 2017, the Ukrainian fashion bible welcomes back Malgosia Bela for another successful cover shoot. Photographed by Chris Colls, the Polish beauty and team deliver a raw and unconventional series of images.

Our forum members were left in awe. “Unconventional and raw. I’m loving what I see!” Valentine27 approved at once.

“I love it. I think it’s a great cover, the styling works, the layout works, Malgosia is amazing as always. It has a [Steven] Klein vibe but more polished IMO which makes me like it even more,” added kokobombon. (more…)

British vs. American ELLE: Which Has the Best Rihanna Cover?

If you haven’t heard already: Rihanna is set for global domination (when isn’t she?) as she covers just about every single edition of ELLE worldwide and the race is currently on for best cover. The American edition failed miserably but our forums are currently raving over British ELLE ‘s choice of image from the cover shoot. The magazine opted for a captivating portrait of Rihanna for its October 2017 issue and complemented the image with a flawless layout. In the Solve Sundsbo-shot image, the songstress turned beauty entrepreneur works a Calvin Klein coat (way better than Lorde on Vogue Australia).

Members of our forums made their feelings clear immediately. “I prefer this to the US cover. It’s a classic throwback ELLE cover. I don’t know why magazines wander so far from their identity sometimes,” praised a delighted A.D.C.

“This is stunning! How US ELLE refused his shot is crazy,” voiced MON. (more…)
