Emma Stone Sports a New Pixie Cut on Vogue’s November ‘Vote’ Issue (Forum Buzz)

As reported on our forums a few months back, Emma Stone was set to return to the cover of American Vogue — and today the magazine confirms the rumors with the unveiling of its November offering. The actress just scored her third cover for the title and looks drastically different from her previous appearances, sporting a short pixie cut for the occasion. Photographed by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott with Tonne Goodman on styling duties, Emma looks anxious (guess last month’s Lupita Nyong’o cover feature really is a tough act to follow) while hiding behind a striped cropped sweater from Michael Kors Collection.

At first glance, the cover seemed to leave our forum members with mixed feelings. “I hate crop tops and this one is so short it gives me literally shivers. Overall it’s a rather basic Emma pictured and barely recognizable as Emma, probably catering a younger public? A feminine Emma with long hair is more to my taste,” shared Nymphaea.

“It seems that they’re trying to make her look younger than she is. And ‘teen anxiety’? No,” stated Lucien112. (more…)

Charlize Theron’s Newest Dior J’adore Fragrance Campaign Is Pure Gold (Forum Buzz)

Charlize Theron has been affiliated with Christian Dior since 2004 and it’s hard to believe the relationship has lasted for over a decade. Charlize’s iconic and memorable campaigns for the French fashion house’s J’adore fragrance continue to captivate. You can imagine our delight when Dior unveiled its brand new campaign for the floral scent, giving J’adore a whole new look and feel. Charlize stuns in a beautiful gold embellished dress, splashing around before the lens of Jean-Baptiste Mondino like the goddess that she is.

The campaign became an instant hit with forum members. “Another epic commercial from J’adore. I think the J’adore and Charlize pairing is the best in recent history. Everything they’ve done turns to gold (wink wink). She’s impossibly beautiful and elegant and powerful. Her charisma is just so commanding,” happycanadian raved in admiration.

“Maybe Dior’s best commercial in a decade (all perfume campaigns combined). For the first time, it’s not related to the past or Christian Dior, or anything Parisian. It’s modern without trying too hard. No more Versailles!! A Dior perfume ad with a woman with undone hair is really a sign of [the times]. If they want their brand to be less ladylike and stiff, this is the right strategy,” approved Lola701. (more…)

Whoopi Goldberg, EGOT winner, is a woman of many passions and talents. She’s a champion of women’s health, hence her range of cannabis-infused menstrual discomfort remedies, which debuted last April. The humanitarian has also put her hard-earned dollars to work producing a reality series starring transgender models, which premiered in September. Her latest business venture is a little more back-to-basics: She likes quirky Christmas sweaters, so she’s making quirky Christmas sweaters.

The Vetements fan will release a limited-edition collection of 11 “ugly” holiday sweaters in partnership with Lord & Taylor and Hudson’s Bay. The knits will be available at 37 Lord & Taylor locations, 29 Hudson’s Bay stores and each retailer’s e-commerce site beginning November 1 — right in time for Ugly Sweater Party season. Coeds rejoice.

The unisex sweaters will range in size from small to extra large and will cost $139 apiece. While that may seem steep for a sweater that features gingerbread men eating each other, you can’t put a price on comfort: “The quality of the Christmas sweaters has gone down for me. They’re not as comfortable and they don’t feel as good,” Whoopi told WWD. “If we’re going to do it, we wanted to do them really well.” Hence, the novelty products are made from wool, cashmere and alpaca. Gigi Hadid Stars on Vogue’s Unnecessary ‘It-Girl Style’ Special Edition for Fall 2016 (Forum Buzz)

Our forums went into meltdown when Kendall Jenner graced the cover of US Vogue‘s Special Edition issue back in March (ultimately scoring the September cover months later). Now, Gigi Hadid (who was just on the cover for August 2016) stars on the magazine’s newly unveiled special edition for Fall 2016, aptly themed “It Girl Style.” Photographed by Gregory Harris, Gigi is all smiles wearing a bold red lip and a stunning sequin Altuzarra dress at the beach.

Yet the majority of our forum members weren’t buying it whatsoever. “Why do they need these special edition covers with models who have already been on the cover? First Kendall and now Gigi. I wish they could give this chance to some new faces or one of their favorites like Imaan [Hammam]. By the way, the shot is not bad but this cover feels very unnecessary to me,” stated apple the moment we took a first look at the cover.

“Exactly! I don’t understand these special editions either! You are after teenagers but will they shell out almost 13 dollars for such a thin issue? Why?!” asked a dumbfounded Miss Dalloway. (more…)

Zayn Malik Is Designing a Line for Versus Versace, Thanks to Gigi Hadid

Thank you @donatella_versace for welcoming me into the @versus_versace family !

Because no great pop artist/half of a celebrity It couple/social media influencer is truly complete without at least a half-dozen fashion collaborations to his or her name, today the New York Times announced that there is a Zayn x Versus Versace capsule collection in the works. (On a related note, Zayn will star in the upcoming Versus Versace campaign.)

After former creative director Anthony Vaccarello’s departure for Yves Saint Laurent, Versace’s “younger, hipper” offshoot was a ship without a captain. Enter Zayn who, according to Donatella Versace, embodies the brand’s rock ‘n’ roll vibe. “Versus is everything that the Versace line is not. It is loud, it is rebellious — I don’t want shoppers buying both from Versus and Versace. The houses have different souls,” the grand dame of Italian fashion told the New York Times. “I wanted Zayn because he can help me talk to his followers. I want to listen to their language. I want to learn more about them, what they think and what they like. They are a new generation that without working with someone like Zayn, I will never reach.”

The two met through Malik’s bae and Versace’s frequent campaign star, Gigi Hadid. “He impressed me very much — he was so mature, so thoughtful, treated her like such a gentleman. They are very nice young people, a lovely couple, in fact. And then he told me how much he loved fashion. It was then I knew he was the right face for what I had in mind,” Donatella told the Times. Cue the awwws. (more…)

A Masked Gwyneth Paltrow Stars on Harper’s Bazaar’s November Issue (Forum Buzz)

Gwyneth Paltrow’s last cover for US Harper’s Bazaar was back in 2013 and considering the mag has a tendency to recycle the same cover subjects, a three-year absence is somewhat of an achievement. The actress/lifestyle guru makes her long-awaited return for the November 2016 cover, posing for Bazaar regular Alexi Lubomirski. On both the newsstand (below) and subscribers cover, Gwyneth channels Zorro wearing a face mask and matching lace bodysuit from La Perla for a bold and unconventional cover image.

Bazaar‘s efforts, however, failed to resonate with our forum members. “The cover looks stiff and awkward. I’m assuming the mask is Photoshopped on? Either way, it looks Photoshopped and badly so. Very fake. That first image from the editorial would’ve made for an amazing cover though,” MyNameIs pointed out.

Sharing the same sentiments was Nymphaea: “The mask looks very fake almost like they’ve put it there with Photoshop: copy and paste. Also her eyes are a bit smallish. Overall it gives me a Christmas vibe. (more…)
