Is Peter Copping Joining Oscar de la Renta?

Oscar de la Renta may have found his successor. Insiders are whispering, according to WWD, that the designer is one step closer to poaching Nina Ricci’s creative director Peter Copping, who’s been eyed to take over the reigns since May.

But this isn’t the first time rumors circulated about a suitor for de la Renta’s label. In February 2013, de la Renta hired former Dior designer John Galliano for a three-week residency and insiders speculated that he was grooming the controversial designer to take over the helm. By April 2014, however, negotiations were called off. Some say talks halted over money; others speculate it was all about the design teamnamely, who Galliano intended to bring on board.

At the end of the day, Peter Copping is a safer choice, and seen as a good match for the venerable brand. Prior to Ricci, where Copping has spent the last five years, the English-born creative interned for Christian Lacroix and worked as head of atelier at Louis Vuitton for 12 years, reporting to Marc Jacobs.

Neither camp has confirmed or denied the reports. Stay tuned as the story develops.

What Happens When All Your Friends Are Models?

“I just so happen to have a group of friends who are all working successful models,” says fashion stylist, Sasha Benz. And after living a fabulous life surrounded by beautiful models for years, she’s decided to launch a website, All My Friends Are Models, which is wholly dedicated to the sometimes stereotyped souls.

She’s got an impressive support network on her side, including the likes of Catherine McNeil, Cheyenne Tozzi, Bambi Northwood-Blyth and Lara Bingle to name a few. Seriously, all the hottest Australian models you can think of can be found on this website and are helping break model stereotypes one elongated pose at a time.

Aiming to “bring forward the issues surrounding the life of being a model” and to teach readers “not to feel intimidated by their lives, or the false ideas that surround them,” the website currently touches on a whole lot of industry beef. Think personal stories straight from the models themselves, the pressures of modelling nude and of course, controversial topics like the appropriate age to join the cut-throat industry and weight expectations.

Shanina Shaik is Bright and Bubbly for Women’s Fitness’ October Issue

Shanina Shaik‘s been popping up everywhere lately, and there’s no signs of the Aussie model slowing down. She’s just been tapped as the October cover girl for Women’s Fitness magazine, showing off the body which wins her time on the Victoria’s Secret runway.

Shanina looks bright and bubbly for the glossy, and it’s not because of her colourblocked swimsuit. Her side-swept locks and huge grin against the watery background have us all insanely keen for poolside weather.

The wardrobe choice, although simple, was a good one for Women’s Fitness. The bright, zipper-adorned top created a sporty look perfect for the magazine’s audience, while the crop cut and neoprene fabric are bang on-trend for swimwear this season.

Flashback: Vogue Paris September 2006 with Jessica, Snejana, Sasha and Gemma

We’re back! After a summer vacation and a sudden decision to redecorate and rearrange the organization of a hefty magazine collection, we can now resume our weekly Fashion Flashback Series. While transporting some copies of Vogue Paris, we came across the September 2006 edition with its multi-girl concept and a foiled gold masthead for dramatic effect.

Unfortunately, we couldn’t find a scan that does the cover justice (ours wouldn’t pick up the gold fonts). Therefore, only those who have the issue at hand truly know just how beautiful the cover really is. Although, who’s concerned about the colors and text placement, when we have the likes of Jessica Stam, Snejana Onopka, Sasha Pivovarova and Gemma Ward on the cover, shot by Craig McDean and all decked out in Chanel?

It seems McDean shot the three main fashion stories for the issue, too. As if the four cover stars weren’t enough already, the issue is full of model spreads. Carine Roitfeld and McDean worked with Carmen Kass, Iselin Steiro, Raquel Zimmermann, Natasha Poly, Tasha Gilbert, Anja Rubik, Angela Lindvall, Missy Rayder and many more faces for the issue. Talk about nailing a September issue full of surprises!

Do you cherish your collection of magazines? The members of our forums sure do. Check out the Pictures Of Your Magazine Collection thread, which is enough to make any magazine collector green with envy.

Stay tuned for next week’s Fashion Flashback!
