Kate Moss Fronts the Disappointing Debut Covers of More or Less Magazine

After the sudden announcement last week that Interview was shutting down after five decades of publication, we welcome the news of a fresh new fashion magazine hitting the market. More or less, a biannual fashion publication that promises to champion “creativity over cost and consumption” is headed up by Jaime Perlman, the former creative director of British Vogue. The magazine enlisted Brit supermodel and ultimate fashion icon Kate Moss to appear on two debut covers photographed by Ethan James Green, with Kate wearing pieces from her own vintage clothing collection.

First impressions are lasting impressions, right? Unfortunately, the covers failed to make an impact with our forum members. “Very underwhelming debut. What’s that masthead, and the title isn’t very creative at all? I suppose after years and years of running all those Kate Moss covers under Alexandra they naturally formed a bond. So to go with Kate for your first issue is very clever,” noted Benn98.

Sharing the same sentiments was dfl-001: “You go from British Vogue that had an oversaturation of Kate Moss and start a new title with… Kate Moss. Tiresome!”

Nicole Kidman Does Vintage Glamour on Tatler’s Revamped July Cover

Tatler magazine has never generated buzz on our forums — until now. The British fashion, lifestyle and high society magazine has a brand new EIC, Richard Dennen, along with a sleek new redesign for the July 2018 issue. Hollywood megastar Nicole Kidman is Dennen’s first cover girl, looking utterly flawless wearing Giambattista Valli in the ultra-glam cover shot photographed by Victor Demarchelier.

Tatler‘s new look was well-received on our forums the moment it dropped. “A celebrity? So this will be a new Vanity Fair?” caioherrero asked.

“This certainly makes me look at the magazine anew, and if it wants to take on the challenge of being the new Vanity Fair, I’m all for it,” approved tigerrouge.

“Wow, this is exciting! The magazine hasn’t been relevant for years so hopefully this will revive it,” Yohji commented.

Rebel Wilson Drowns in Fabric on Vogue Australia’s June Cover

You have to love a magazine that continuously supports its country’s homegrown talent and Vogue Australia is a shining example. We were served an array of diverse Aussie beauties back in April and a joyous Kylie Minogue kickstarted her 50th birthday celebration on the cover of last month’s issue. For June, the magazine selected Rebel Wilson, who looks pretty elated to be on the cover this month. Photographed by Nicole Bentley and styled by Kate Darvill, the Aussie actress was shot wearing an oversized Martin Grant coat worn over a voluminous Christian Siriano gown.

Given the volume of fabric, it was easy to predict the reactions from our forum members. “So depressing… even for winter. Magazines never know what to do with women who don’t have a model body,” kokobombon said.

“Most people don’t have a model body, yet social media has proven there are innumerable ways in which people with different body types can dress (up and down) and look amazing. But despite the endless oceans of inspiration available online, print magazines seem to cling to the old, tired methods of how they present different body types,” tigerrouge added.

Anja Rubik Covers Porter’s Summer Escape Issue for a Great Cause

Porter always manages to deliver superior summer cover shoots (overlooking the Karlie Kloss cover last month), with past issues starring the likes of Sienna Miller and Bella Hadid. The new Summer Escape 2018 edition is here and Porter welcomes back cover girl Anja Rubik, who brilliantly helps raise awareness for the impact of plastic pollution littering the oceans. Captured in the tranquil waters of the Maldives by photographer Mario Sorrenti, Anja sports a blunt blonde hairstyle in the captivating newsstand cover image (below), wearing a Saint Laurent dress by Anthony Vaccarello, styled by Camille BidaultWaddington.

Lexi Boling Finally Lands a Solo Cover of Vogue Japan

At the rate Vogue Japan has been going, we half expected to see another cover featuring the Hadid sisters this month (Bella Hadid and Gigi Hadid each appeared on the last two consecutive issues). Instead, the magazine awards Lexi Boling her very first cover, after featuring the American model on two previous covers alongside her peers. Photographed by regular Vogue Japan contributor Giampaolo Sgura, the Steven Meisel favorite and current face of Prada channels her inner 60s mod girl in the retro cover image, decked out in Bottega Veneta styled by Anna Dello Russo.

Lexi’s first solo outing on Vogue Japan seemed like a gift to our forum members. “Ugh stunning!! Very chic,” said MON the moment the cover struck.

“Lovely to see her back!” applauded forum member ivano.

“Finally a return to form… the classic Vogue Japan cover!” magsaddict approved at once.

Sharing the same enthusiasm was a delighted 333101: “Ow, I quite like this, reminds me of covers from the 2000s!”

Kendall Jenner and Mert Alas Help Vogue Turkey Celebrate Its 100th Issue With a Whole Lot of Photoshop

After a well-received Dua Lipa cover last month, Vogue Turkey’s newfound confidence comes just in time as it celebrates its 100th issue this month. Turkish Vogue first hit newsstands back in 2010 with a conservative and aesthetically pleasing Jessica Stam cover and has certainly had its fair share of highs and lows over the past eight years. For the celebratory June 2018 edition, the magazine enlisted half of the country’s most recognizable photography team, Mert Alas, to appear in front of the lens with Kendall Jenner, who hitches a ride on his motorcycle across the desert. Mert’s counterpart, Marcus Piggott, opted to stay behind the camera and snap the totally comical cover image.

Members of our forums didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. “I cant believe it’s a real cover, looks fan-made! The Photoshop is so bad and obvious here,” wrote Nocturnal upon checking out the cover.

“Good God, now I’ve seen it all! This is a new nauseating level of vanity which shouldn’t be tolerated. Everything looks so fake, Photoshopped and terribly tacky. Kendall, the setting, his expression (which, is it supposed to be hot?),” asked Benn98.
