Donatella Versace Latest Designer to Do The ALS #IceBucketChallenge

Just when we thought we were sick of seeing famous people dump ice water over their heads, Donatella Versace comes to remind us that no, indeed we are not, and watching the rich and famous get cold and wet will never not be extremely entertaining.

The Versace VP adds to the growing list of designers taking the ALS #IceBucketChallenge today. The designer sits, flanked by two shirtless models clad only in layered gold chains and black jeans with Versace boxers peeking over. Naturally. Donatella accepts the challenge in all white, nominating Pharrell Williams, Prince and (we think, it was a little hard to understand!) Spanish filmmaker Pedro Almodóvar, which is a totally random choice.

“I’m not just here for doing the makeup,” Versace reminds viewers, encouraging them to donate, before getting distracted for a moment. The minute she seems to forget the purpose of the videos, the dutiful male models pour iceless water over her head from Versace-brand buckets. As one does.

Yes, it’s as great as it sounds. Watch the whole thing above.

Jessica Hart Sparkles as Cosmopolitan Australia’s October Cover Girl

Aussie beauty Jessica Hart has been tapped as Cosmopolitan Australia’s cover girl for October, wearing a show-stopping jumpsuit from Perth-based label Zhivago. With the girlie-pink background and pops of yellow, white and black fonts, it’s a glossy you can’t miss on newsstands.

Jessica looks her normal babin’ self for the cover, with side-swept waves and a gap-toothed grin from ear-to-ear. With the sparkly emerald green and black one-piece doing all the talking, the Victoria’s Secret model only needed to sport a few delicate gold rings as accessories.

Zhivago designers Lydia Tsvetnenko and Lara Kovacevich must be pretty stoked to see Jessica sporting this piece, adding to their ever-growing list of celebrities who have worn their designs. Even the Highborn Jumpsuit Jessica rocks for the cover has been spotted before, on pop star Samantha Jade for the 2013 ARIAs.

Vogue Italia’s 50th Anniversary September Cover Finally Drops! (Forum Buzz)

For what felt like the wait of a lifetime with endless speculation and discussion amongst our forum members inside the Cover Rumor Thread, Vogue Italia’s September cover finally dropped on our forums earlier today. The magazine followed tradition and went all-out for the celebratory issue. Steven Meisel photographed an endless list of models ranging from Linda Evangelista and Naomi Campbell to Natasha Poly and Anna Ewers for the spectacular fold-out cover.

Within moments of the cover surfacing on our forums, members could barely contain their excitement. “YESSSSSSSSSS! This is the best model group shot ever!!!!” exclaimed migelalmeida.

“Group covers seem to be ‘on trend’ but this is BY FAR the best!!” agreed orchidee.

Wolkfolk was also enthusiastic about the fold-out: “The white borders bother me more than the sepia. It gives a nostalgic feeling to the cover, like a special moment captured in time which it is. Meisel proves once again that nobody does group shots like him. I LOVE the cast (Elise, Christy, Iselin, Sasha). Some muses are missing and their presence would’ve made this even more incredible but this [is] already perfect. The composition is fantastic and kudos to the stylist.”

The issue is clearly already a hit as valliaddict wrote, “Yes yes yes yes YES!!! This is giving me everything I need for a September cover! I will most definitely be saving my coins to buy this one. I’m kind of shocked that Freja or Arizona weren’t a part of this, but I’m not complaining.”

“I’m getting three copies! One to read, one to frame on the wall (omg, the cost of a custom frame to accommodate the fold out), and one vacuum-sealed to be kept in the darkness of my collector’s vault!” raved Aedlacir.

YoninahAliza shared everyone’s positive attitude: “Holy smokes… now this is how you do a September issue (and one with models too)! I liked U.S. Vogue‘s cover but this one from VI is very, very cool. Though, at the same time it is a tad overwhelming with all those models… I almost don’t know where to look they all look so good!”

Balenciaga and Nicolas Ghesquière to Mediate Suit Out of Court

For the past few months, Nicolas Ghesquière has been battling in court with his former employers at Balenciaga over comments he made in an interview last year to System magazine about working for the house. It was the first interview Ghesquière had done since his exit and he explained that part of his reason for leaving was because he was feeling drained from the bureaucracy at the label. “I began to feel as though I was being sucked dry, like they wanted to steal my identity while trying to homogenise things,” he famously said. The folks at Balenciaga didn’t take too kindly to his words and filed suit against Ghesquière, claiming his disparaging comments were damaging to the house. Balenciaga was seeking $9.4 million in damages (€7 million). 

Now, it looks like Balenciaga and Ghesquière are ready to sit down and talk about their problems like grown-ups. WWD reports that the dueling parties are going to try and resolve the issue with mediation. Balenciaga initially filed suit claiming that Ghesquière’s comments hurt the brand image, but Ghesquière’s people argued that the designer’s words were speaking more to the unfortunate conditions of the industry, as opposed to the fashion house itself. 

The court was scheduled to rule on the case today. Hopefully, the fashion house and the designer can settle their differences.
