Kris Jenner Gets a Spot on LOVE’s Advent Calendar, While Kim Kardashian Could Be Getting Made Into a Statue

LOVE magazine wants you to have a kiki with Kris Jenner, who stars in the magazine’s 2014 advent calendar. The momager extraordinaire, clad in a black suit dress over a cut-out mesh piece, does a little sexy dance with a candy cane, showing the world exactly where her daughter Kendall (who appeared in the calendar last week) got all her moves.

While Kris has been immortalized in a Doug Inglish directed LOVE clip, Kim Kardashian is about to be immortalized as a statue. ELLE U.K. reports that Kanye West has commissioned an artist to create a statue of Kim, posed in a fashion similar to that famous Grace Jones Island Life cover, taken by Jean-Paul Goude.

Amber Rose, Kanye’s ex-girlfriend, did her own rendition of the pose back in 2010 for Complex, so maybe Kanye just has a thing for making all his significant others do odes to Goude. Kim’s Paper magazine cover was also a modern update of a vintage Goude image, so she’s no stranger to the theme. According to reports, the plans for the statue will be unveiled on a forthcoming episode of Keeping Up with the Kardashians, so stay tuned!

Merriam-Webster’s 2014 Word of the Year Is…

Forget “bae” and “feminist,” 2014 was all about the word “culture,” at least according to Merriam-Webster. The dictionary has named it this year’s buzzword, thanks to a huge jump in lookups over the past months.

Merriam-Webster attributes 2014′s preoccupation with defining phenomena (both pertinent and frivolous) in our society for the word’s popularity. Rape culture, celebrity culture and cultural appropriation, for example, were talked about a lot this year and it had folks turning to their dictionaries. “The term conveys a kind of academic attention to systematic behavior and allows us to identify and isolate an idea, issue, or group,” Merriam-Webster writes, noting that it usually sees a spike in lookups for the word around the time when school starts, but this time the word had a strong showing all year long.

Nostalgia, insidious, legacy, feminism, je ne sais quoi (more of a phrase than a word, really), innovation, surreptitious, autonomy and morbidity rounded out the top 10 list. Pretty important words, if you ask us.

Does Sienna Miller Deserve Yet Another Cover of Vogue Magazine? (Forum Buzz)

We’re often left hanging when it comes to U.S. Vogue‘s upcoming issue, but this time around we’ve seen it pretty quickly. The magazine’s January cover surfaced on our forums over the weekend and we are currently debating Anna Wintour’s choice of cover subject. Sienna Miller stars on Vogue‘s first issue of 2015, shot by Mario Testino (who also photographed Sienna for Vogue‘s now famous September 2007 issue), with Tonne Goodman on styling duty. Goodman selected an eye-catching Burberry trench for the Foxcatcher actress to showcase, but with uninspiring results.

Members of our forums aren’t exactly pleased with Sienna’s latest Vogue cover. “Her second January cover? Oh Anna. Not a good start to the year. I don’t like the red. And what’s with these hat covers? Taylor, Gwen, now her,” commented Benn98, questioning Sienna’s fourth cover for the magazine.

“This isn’t very fashion to me. It looks more like Good Housekeeping magazine, not Vogue,” slammed valliaddict.

Urban Stylin wondered, “Is there a clause that she must always be photographed by Mario Testino?”

“It’s funny, I remember her name but I always forget her face. I have no idea in which movies she’s [in] or if I’ve ever seen her in a movie. She’s that forgettable. This cover is bad. Red and blue are an awful combination. And why her and not someone more exciting? Oh well, I do remember that Anna likes her a lot,” posted anlabe32, sharing her disappointment.

“I hate everything about it. The coat and hat don’t go together and swallow her up, her expression is unsure. So so disappointed,” wrote gazebo.

“Enough of the generic blonde actresses and the same models every month. FIRE ANNA!” demanded HeatherAnne.

Also not having any of it was A.D.C., who asked, “Would any other American magazine give Sienna Miller a cover in 2015?” hinting Vogue‘s on a downward spiral.

We’ve Seen Jennifer Aniston’s January Allure Cover a Thousand Times Before (Forum Buzz)

Thanks to Fashion Scans Remastered, we have seen the January titles of various American publications roll out over the weekend. Vogue came first and now Allure‘s first cover of 2015 surfaced on our forums. The magazine tapped Jennifer Aniston as its cover subject this time around, after failing to impress us with the December cover featuring Allison Williams. But we aren’t exactly jumping for joy with the latest installment. Jennifer was photographed by Michael Thompson looking like her usual self with soft, tousled waves and minimal makeup, while wearing a plunging top and looking very early 2000s.

Our forum members have surely noticed and are currently voicing their opinions. “What an awful cover! This post-production is terrible,” slammed narcyza, not very impressed with the cover.

“Eek! Don’t like the lighting and her laugh. And what’s with the amateur art direction?” questioned Benn98.

“For a tagline that talks about hair, it’s ironic that her hair is horrible in this shot; it’s looking so frizzy. And I feel when it comes to magazines, Jennifer’s always the same, and it’s so boring. This could easily have been a part of her Bazaar cover, or any editorial that she’s done that I could remember,” added an underwhelmed ash92.

“Ouch….very poorly executed cover and very dated looking Jennifer Aniston,” agreed justaguy.

“Rachel Karen Green I will forever be in love with you but this cover feels like a reprint or something, I feel like I’ve seen this before,” shared KateTheGreatest.

Also unimpressed was tigerrouge, who posted, “I feel like a voyeur, unavoidably looking down the front of her dress. But don’t come at me with an image of Jennifer Aniston and put the words ‘hair makeover’ on it. The evolution of that woman’s hair happens at a slightly slower pace than an ice age. She’s more about the power of remaining true to your style. Not experimentation.”
