Flashback: Vogue Paris February 2008 with Kate Moss and Naomi Campbell

Oh, we remember this like it was yesterday. We can even recall the second we noticed the forum thread title loading before our very eyes and almost dropping down with excitement. For this week’s Flashback Series, we take a look back at the February 2008 issue of Vogue Paris. The cover features none other than two of modeling’s most iconic pairings, Kate Moss and Naomi Campbell. Shot by Mario Testino, the dynamic duo posed together wearing dresses from Louis Vuitton, styled by Carine Roitfeld.

The excitement wasn’t only over the fabulous cover shot — the content was overwhelming! The supermodels posed for a set of images inside the issue, also lensed by Testino, who shot the long-term buddies in black and white. To mark the one year anniversary of Anna Nicole Smith’s death, Emmanuelle Alt and Terry Richardson shot Natasha Poly channeling the lifestyle of  the late Playboy model. We see Poly caring for an elderly man, while being showered with expensive gifts from Chanel, Cartier and Louis Vuitton. Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin shot Lily Donaldson in the Hollywood Hills looking like a real-life doll, while Peter Lindbergh photographed Isabeli Fontana resembling Amy Winehouse. The issue was certainly a nod to our modern culture!

Familiarize yourself with the contents, and don’t be afraid to reignite discussion inside the dormant thread here.

Moschino, What Did You Do to Barbie’s Hair?

Moschino showgoers got a little treat today and no, it wasn’t french fry shaped iPhone covers or anything mildly practical at all. This time, guests received a Moschino-branded Barbie doll, clad in a pretty badass pink zipper moto jacket and matching pencil skirt with an extended zip fly that folded over into a waistband. It’s a good thing Barbie doesn’t have human proportions or any actual genitalia because, my, my, that dip’s a little low.

Showgoers have been Tweeting and Instagramming up a storm over the dolls, and they’re pretty cute, but we couldn’t help but wonder: What’s going on with Barbie’s hair?

Barbie has rocked all manner of hairstyles, good and bad. But Coke can curls all pinned up in the style of Medusa? We’re not sure if it’s doing Barbie justice.

At least her outfit is cute…

Michelle Phan Files a Counterclaim Against Ultra Records

Michelle Phan has found herself in some legal trouble in recent months. She’s getting sued by Ultra Records for allegedly using the music of its dance music artists in her makeup tutorial videos without permission. Phan’s people maintained that the music was not used without consent and now, they are firing back at Ultra with a counterclaim saying so.

Phan claims that she contacted Ultra Records Senior New Media Manager Jason Kilgore in 2009, requesting the green light to use music from one of the company’s artists, Kaskade. According to Phan, Kilgore wrote back that the label would be “more than happy” to grant Phan permission. She says that she struck up a deal with Ultra, allowing her to use music from the label’s artists, as long as she added the proper credits and provided iTunes links to any of the music used. By suing her, she says Ultra isn’t holding up its part of the deal. Ultra agreed to not file any Content ID claims against her.  (more…)

Stop: Gemma Ward Makes a Major Comeback on Prada’s Spring 2015 Runway (Forum Buzz)

Gemma Ward Prada Spring 2015 show

You had better stop what you’re doing and sit yourself down: Gemma Ward just opened Prada‘s Spring 2015 runway show in Milan. Yes, it’s true — she’s back! The baby-faced Aussie beauty turned heads as she made her way through the piles of purple colored sand which made up Prada’s runway setting. After an eight-year hiatus from the modeling industry to concentrate on an acting career, Gemma set not only Miuccia Prada‘s show ablaze but our forums as well.

tFSers cannot contain their excitement regarding Gemma’s major comeback this catwalk season, with almost five pages of discussion rapidly spawning with elated fans. “Holt sh*t Gemma just opened Prada!!!!!” commented orchidee, being the first to acknowledge Ward’s appearance inside her dedicated thread.

“I’m in shock since I saw her! Now that’s a proper major comeback!!!!!!!” continued Tinna.

FaithAkiyama was quick to join the discussion: “Wow just wow. That was one epic moment!” she exclaimed.

Also happy about the comeback was mackos who wrote, “Oh God. I’m in tears right now. Whatever happens next, THIS is the moment of the season. Period.”

“I can recognize that walk stance from miles away. There can only be one who walks like that. Welcome back!!!!!!!” raves Flashbang.

Luxx began to look ahead and questioned Gemma’s next move: “And so begins a new era of Gemma. Which cover do you think she’ll get? It’s only a matter of time!” she questioned.

“Welcome back Gemma! Honestly, I am so shocked! In a good way! How did she get to Milan without anyone seeing her?! She looked amazing at Prada and you can really see that she’s matured into a stunning young lady, I always forget she’s still only 26. I’m sure we’ll see more of her, not as much as we used to but I am beyond happy. This made my day,” wrote an ecstatic Elite13.

See inside Gemma’s thread here for even more well wishes, and check out the Prada show here. Don’t you just love Fashion Week?

How chic is that? The collaboration between the two British brands conveys stylish yet simple charm by incorporating a natural makeup look and a red lip to complement the uniforms. Illamasqua created a custom lipstick—appropriately named Virgin—to match the famous Pantone red color associated with the airline. Anyone who has gone into a Lanvin boutique knows it’s a sight to behold. The whimsical elegance that colors the displays and store decor is a perfect representation of Creative Director Alber Elbaz‘s aesthetic. The displays are works of art themselves and now they’re getting their own book, Lanvin: I Love You

From the windows of the boutique on Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré to installations at Art Basel Miami Beach, Elbaz put together a collection of some of the brand’s best displays, adding a few anecdotes of his own for an inside look behind some of Lanvin’s most memorable spreads. The book contains over 200 examples of the label’s treatments, and also includes never before seen sketches from the designer.

Click through to see some of the images from the book, which will hit Lanvin boutiques September 22.  (more…)
