As if posing on the covers of Vogue Japan, Allure and W Korea weren’t enough for Gigi Hadid to close out 2016 (and a Stuart Weitzman campaign for good measure), the International Model of the Year appears as the face of Max Mara accessories for Spring 2017. Returning for a third time for the Italian label, Gigi is once again in good hands with photographer Steven Meisel for the just-released campaign. Switching things up from the Fall ads, Gigi’s hair is styled in tight curls as she lays across the studio floor in the soft, dreamy and irresistibly feminine shot.

Members of our forums really liked Gigi’s latest gig. “I like it! Love the hair and she looks like a young Rebecca Gayheart here,” pointed out DutchHomme.
“Stunning shot, it’s got Carine [Roitfeld] written all over it. More than Meisel, actually. They seem to bring out the best in Gigi,” Benn98 admitted. (more…)
The industry is so caught up with Kendall Jenner and the Gigi Hadid that we often overlook the credentials of their BFF and fellow Insta-girl, Hailey Baldwin. She served supermodel realness in numerous Guess campaigns this year and made the cover of Harper’s Bazaar Australia for November. It seems 2017 will be just as successful for Hailey as she’s unveiled as the cover star for Harper’s Bazaar Spain’s January edition, alongside male model Jon Kortajarena. Photographed by Spanish Bazaar regular Thomas Whiteside, Hailey stars on not one, but two covers to usher in the new year.
Our forum members aren’t so sure her success is deserved, however. “I think that she has what it takes to be a good celebrity model but there’s something so pedestrian in her presence IMO, I just can’t get into her. I prefer Hailey’s solo cover though, as Jon seems annoyed on the other,” wrote kokobombon.
“She looks bored and he looks confused. Something my eye would be drawn to for the wrong reasons,” critiqued inwhiterooms. (more…)
Vogue Russia has had a pretty turbulent 2016: churning out some of its best and worst covers over the past twelve months. With the unveiling of the magazine’s latest, Russian Vogue looks like it’s taking a new direction for the year ahead. For the January cover shot by Patrick Demarchelier, Doutzen Kroes poses before a clean, minimalist background wearing a shocking-pink Valentino cape and wet hair.
On paper, the cover sounds perfect, but were our forum members impressed? “Despite it being pink, it’s still very morbid. She looks like a living corpse. Not really Doutzen’s fault, but more Demarchelier and the stylist,” Benn98 critiqued at once.
“What a heavy cover. I’d never put that on the cover. The clothes don’t look nice. Uncomfortably odd,” added MON. (more…)
Stuart Weitzman doesn’t like to change a winning formula — and we have proof. Kate Moss was the face of his namesake brand for a number of seasons, followed by Gisele Bündchen who repped the shoe brand for several campaigns. Most recently, Weitzman has embraced the industry’s ultimate It girl, Gigi Hadid. Returning for her third consecutive Weitzman campaign, Gigi once again goes solo in the newly unveiled Spring 2017 spots. Per usual, the pictures were lensed by master photographer Mario Testino, who ultimately stuck with Weitzman’s signature black and white imagery.

After multiple seasons with the same concept, our forum members are yearning for change. “Every Stuart Weitzman campaign with Gigi is beginning to merge into one another! Why bother releasing new shots season after season?” questioned a disapproving Benn98.
“If at least the shoes were worth a campaign,” laughed an unimpressed Lola701. (more…)
Donatella Versace made no attempt to hide that models Edie Campbell and Anna Ewers had signed on to star in Versace’s mainline campaign for Spring 2017, posting a series of behind-the-scenes photos featuring the duo while on location in Kentucky. Replacing Karlie Kloss and Gigi Hadid but continuing to work with photographer Bruce Weber, Edie and Anna roam around a ranch and pose alongside male models and horses — a stark contrast from the Versace collection.
Members of our forums weren’t a fan of the concept. “So, clearly, this is not Versace. The two individual shots with Edie are take it or leave it for me — just meh. However, the one with Anna and Edie could not have been more stiff if they tried. Anna, especially, looks like she’s never modeled in her life. And her neck looks like she’s a football player,” MyNameIs critiqued at once.
“Versace in Kentucky? A mess. This is truly awful,” Scotty exclaimed in a state of shock. (more…)
Rarely does Rosie Huntington-Whiteley disappoint on the cover of our favorite fashion glossies (and she’s fronted several over the past couple of months). Therefore, it’s no surprise that British ELLE had an instant hit when it was announced on our forums in November that Rosie was set to appear on its January issue. The fitness-themed cover, Rosie’s fifth for the magazine, is finally here and our forum members couldn’t be happier.
“It’s finally out and Rosie is just damn perfect!” raved Srdjan the second the cover surfaced, setting the tone for commentary to follow.
“Strong cover, love the covers. I know Rosie appears an awful lot on UK Harper’s Bazaar and UK ELLE but I’m absolutely okay with it. It’s very rare for her not to deliver, for me,” added a more than satisfied honeycombchild. (more…)
