A Diverse Cast of Women Covers Vanity Fair’s Annual Hollywood Issue

Vanity Fair cover March 2017 The Hollywood issue

It’s that time of year again: Vanity Fair‘s annual Hollywood Issue has landed. Once again captured by famed photographer Annie Leibovitz, the 2017 issue celebrates actresses Amy Adams, Natalie Portman, Lupita Nyong’o, Emma Stone, Ruth Negga, Dakota Fanning, Elle Fanning, Aja Naomi King, Dakota Johnson, Greta Gerwig and Janelle Monae. The wonderfully diverse cast of women pose together for a three-page cover reminiscent of the golden age of Hollywood.

Naturally, the cover became the topic of immediate discussion on our forums. “That’s a lot of good-looking women looking bad (or bored). And it feels like Amy Adams is always on the cover. Not that I’m complaining, but it seems VF really likes to support her,” stated tigerrouge.

Also not exactly thrilled was Miss Dalloway: “I’m so sick of Lupita in all of these things!! She is not even part of the award buzz this season, and besides she had her moment, why not let someone else get theirs! How shameful that Ruth is on the fold out, and Lupita is on the front of the cover — same for Adam’s actually! Also no Viola, again? Ridiculous! The styling is just awful, these are such a unappealing dresses!” (more…)

Frances Bean Cobain Stars Solo in Marc Jacobs’ New Spring 2017 Campaign

We’ve become accustomed to Marc Jacobs casting a legion of followers, friends and muses for his mainline advertising campaigns, but for Spring 2017, the designer is turning over a new leaf by enlisting only one (yes, ONE) person to appear in his latest campaign. Enter Frances Bean Cobain (no introduction necessary), who goes solo in the minimalist campaign image. Frances took to David Sims’ studio, posing for a stark black and white shot. Katie Grand selected a lace and sequin dress for Frances to model as she follows in her mother’s footsteps as a Marc Jacobs campaign girl.

Unfortunately for MJ, our forums aren’t buying this one. “THIS IS WHAT I’VE BEEN WAITING FOR? Get me outta here,” complained an unforgiving anlabe32.

“Oh hell no! After all the controversy from the collection, THIS is what he did? Just grab another famous spawn. Reductive,” SpeakThatJDunn disapproved. (more…)

Lily Aldridge Stars in Peter Lindbergh’s Salvatore Ferragamo Spring 2017 Campaign

With numerous Vogue cover appearances under her belt along with the new Carolina Herrera campaign, Lily Aldridge must be doing something right — though she typically doesn’t get a whole lot of love from our forum members. Lily’s latest campaign is for Salvatore Ferragamo Spring 2017, appearing alongside fellow models McKenna Hellam and Andres Velencoso. Photographed by Peter Lindbergh, the trio was transported to the idyllic location of Taormina, Sicily for the campaign images.

Our forums first took a look at Andres’ campaign image and began to deliberate. “Oh this is stunning, exactly what I want from Ferragamo,” approved anlabe32 at once.

“That is a fantastic shot and the colors are so gorgeous,” raved Nomar. (more…)

Isabel Marant Runway Favorite Anna Ewers Scores a Long Overdue Campaign

Every season, our forums root for a model to secure a certain campaign and we couldn’t think of anyone more deserving than Anna Ewers to front Isabel Marant for Spring 2017. After all, she’s walked the show numerous times during Paris Fashion Week and closed the Marant show three times in a row since Spring 2016. Replacing Edie Campbell, Anna was shot by Dutch photographic duo Inez van Lamsweerde & Vinoodh Matadin for the occasion, heating up a New York kitchen before retreating back to the studio for the remaining campaign images.

“Finally! After three seasons closing the show she finally did it!” congratulation artemovartem the second the campaign dropped.

“I like it, Anna is beautiful and this collection was a very good one,” gossiping approved. (more…)

Irina Shayk Gives Good Face on Vogue Japan’s Flawless March Cover

If the latest covers are any indication, 2017 is looking bright for Vogue Japan. January’s cover went to a sultry Anna Ewers, while February’s issue delivered a selection of the industry’s hottest upcoming models. The publication’s March cover (yes, March already) has just dropped and the title has yet another hit to add to its growing collection. Once again photographed by Luigi & Iango, Irina Shayk (who is having a knockout year herself) stuns like never before in the flawless, beauty-focused image while wearing Bottega Veneta.
