Rosie Huntington-Whiteley’s Face ‘Looks Just Awful’ on Vogue Turkey (Forum Buzz)

Our forums are on fire today and one of the latest threads is for Vogue Turkey. The magazine has tapped Rosie Huntington-Whiteley to star on its August 2014 cover. Photographed by Horst Diekgerdes, the British bombshell dons a white dress teamed with a black belt as her blonde tresses cascade down the left side of her structured face. Perfect, right? Think again…

Our forum members aren’t so convinced. “Oh, that cover is so bad. Rosie’s face looks just awful, especially her lips. The styling doesn’t convince me, her personal style is much better than it. The background and fonts looks like Harper’s Baazar not Vogue,” wrote narcyza.

“Once again, I do not understand Rosie as a cover model for Vogue and here it’s probably her worst. This picture looks like a behind-the-scenes outtake, not a cover. She’s a great lingerie model, great for VS and everything glamour and sexy, great in swimwear, but not for these types of jobs where it requires to look edgy/high fashion. She’s gorgeous, but I don’t see her image (as a model) working as well as Raquel Zimmermann, Karen Elson or Carolyn Murphy for example,” stated Bertrando3.

“Why is she not looking at the camera?” questioned ALAUU.

Sensation shared the same sentiments: “What an unflattering choice of a cover shot.”

“Rosie never looks real to me on covers, she just looks fake/over-Photoshopped. I actually like that she’s glancing down, but the styling is very cheap looking,” commented justaguy.

One post that stood out amongst the rest was from kokobombon, who contributed, “I like the styling and the fact that she’s not looking to the camera.”

Await the contents of the issue on our forums and let’s see if there’s a more suitable cover shot. Join the discussion here.

WATCH: The Super Sexy Fifty Shades of Grey Trailer Makes its Debut

Image: Universal Pictures

It’s several months away, but already we’re thinking that instead of our usual Valentine’s Day tradition of binge watching Netflix with a bottle of wine, we should head to an actual movie theater and catch Fifty Shades of Grey, for which the trailer was released today.

The teaser is exactly what you’d expect: A shy, unsure girl meets an intense, wealthy, handsome executive who, like most execs, has a BDSM dungeon at the ready. There are blindfolds, whips, chains, lingering glances and of course, obligatory moaning fading in and out with Beyoncé‘s latest rendition of Crazy in Love (a version made exclusively for the film) pulsing in the background.

If you’re not that pumped about the movie, don’t worry because there were about a zillion fans outside the Today Show, which premiered the trailer, getting excited for you, wielding posters, some reading “50 Shades of Today” (ha). All this hub-bub for the trailer, people. Talk about “got me lookin’ so crazy right now.”

At any rate, peep the trailer everyone’s talking about this morning below, and let us know: will you be catching 50 Shades of Grey in theaters?

Shanina Shaik Partners with Banjo & Matilda’s The Sweater Exchange Charity

Nothing like a model using her looks for a good cause, right? We can add Victoria’s Secret beauty Shanina Shaik to that list now that she’s lending a helping hand to The Sweater Exchange charity. The 23-year-old appeared on The Today Show with Karl Stefanovic this week to promote the organisation founded by Aussie label Banjo & Matilda.

“The Sweater Exchange charity has partnered with Mission Australia to collect pre-loved sweaters in the community and give them to women and children in need for wintertime,” Shanina explained. It was the Just Jeans model’s mum that inspired her to be part of the great cause, but admits she feels “really good inside” being able to give back.

If you’ve got a knit that doesn’t get to jump out your wardrobe and see the light of day, then why not give it to someone who needs it, and let it get the wear it deserves? With over 45,000 homeless women in Australia, there’s no time like the present to donate to this worthy cause. Drop your unwanted sweaters at Banjo & Matilda’s Paddington store in Sydney or visit the site to organise a pickup.

Australia’s fashion elite packed into Sydney’s Carriageworks last night to watch the Witchery Spring 2014 runway show dubbed “New Mood.” In a lengthy show that went for over 13 minutes, the retail chain served up an extensive and stylish offering for guests, including Lindy Klim, Nadia Bartel and Samantha Harris.

Nicole Pollard led the way for other models, like Eliza Humble and Ollie Henderson, kicking off the showcase of androgynous tailored pieces, casual safari-esque ensembles and on-trend fabrics like chambrays, lurex and leather.

While the cold weather was more than enough to get us keen for spring, Witchery’s new range also sends our minds to warmer days. Looks like leather’s sticking around for the desirable season too, with models showcasing harsh leather bustiers, studded backpacks and plenty of fringe detailing.

The strong black leathers will work in seamlessly with the store’s safari-themed pieces, including khaki jumpsuits and waterfall blazers along with zebra print joggers and fine-pleat midi skirts. (more…)

The Weirdest Fashion Flat Lay We’ve Seen Lately

We love a good flat lay. Whether it’s beauty essentials, a laid-out outfit for the day or just a few of someone’s favourite things, it’s always nice to see how products can look beautiful when arranged in the right way. But today, scrolling through our Instagram feed, we spotted a kind of flat lay we’ve never seen before — one with a baby in the mix.

With a caption reading, “Today’s Essentials,” Melbourne-based label Jerri Jones posted a flat lay of a leather jacket, wide-brim hat, sunnies, the latest issue of Renegade Collective and an innocent, unaware baby. The little one remains unnamed and unbranded in the post, but for now we will follow Jerri Jones’ lead and call the baby #cutestbaby.

Instagram user youthandbravado stirred things up writing, “I’ll exchange a baby blanket for that jacket.” Fortunately, there is a pair of feet also in the image, so we can rest assured knowing that mum or dad wasn’t too far away from bub’s reach.

Hermes Appoints Nadège Vanhee-Cybulski as New Artistic Director

Image: Imaxtree

Well, that was quick. Early this week, it was announced that Christophe Lemaire was stepping down from the helm of Hermes, presumably to focus on his namesake label. But before any real speculation could actually get underway, the French fashion house has already announced a replacement.

Nadège Vanhee-Cybulski, alum of The Row, Celine and Maison Martin Margiela, will fill the position of artistic director overseeing womens ready-to-wear. This quick turnover has us thinking that perhaps Vanhee-Cybulski was already lined up ahead of the announcement. But her experience working in top positions on the design teams of some of the most coveted brands in the world makes it pretty clear why she was tapped.

Vanhee-Cybulski will start at the house following the womenswear spring shows. Lemaire’s last collection for Hermes is set to bow October 1.
