Adwoa Aboah Styled Herself for Vogue Poland’s Terrible June Cover

Despite an underwhelming debut in March, Vogue Poland successfully picked up the pace and managed to win over our forum members with the Eva Herzigova and Natalia Vodianova covers that followed. The Polish magazine’s fourth installment, however, puts it back at square one with an unimpressive Adwoa Aboah cover for June 2018. Photographer Tim Walker captured the current face of Chanel Eyewear for her sixth Vogue cover, as she serves up her signature blank stare in a red leather Christian Dior trench coat she styled herself.

Our forum members were horrified with the outcome. “She styled her own cover? Writer, stylist, watch, she’ll shoot her own cover next,” wrote Benn98. “Absolutely hideous! And the masthead doesn’t appear to be blending in with the image. I don’t think I like their ‘direction’, whatever it is. It’s not bringing anything new to the table which begs the question why they even bothered to launch another magazine.”

“What a terrible cover! I will take tacky, even vulgar over something this insipid. Just Adwoa with another lifeless and blank expression,” slammed Miss Dalloway.

Interview Magazine Shuts Down: the tFS Forums React

If you haven’t heard already, Interview magazine is no longer. Amid ongoing news that the magazine industry is in trouble, Interview has suddenly shut down due to financial issues. The New York-based arts, fashion and culture magazine, which was founded by Andy Warhol and John Wilcock in 1969, has enjoyed an extremely rich and vibrant history of iconic covers and features. Over recent years, our forum members have loved (and loathed) covers starring the likes of Kim Kardashian, Penelope Cruz, Michelle Pfeiffer, Emma Watson, Solange Knowles, Jodie Foster, Emma Stone and Willow and Jaden Smith. The news comes as a surprise, especially since the magazine just went through a redesign two months ago, featuring a handful of fresh faces photographed by David Sims. It evidently wasn’t enough to keep the magazine afloat.

Members of our forums immediately expressed their disbelief and sorrow over the news. “This is actually devastating. Interview was far past its glory days, but for a long time, it was the best arts and culture magazine out of New York. It was my bible in the 80s and 90s. It lost its way when it became too focused on fashion and Hollywood. The decline has been long and slow, but this sudden end is still shocking and sad,” commented mepps.

“It’s so sad. Someone should buy this magazine. It’s such a loss,” added caioherrero.

A Scorching Edie Campbell Stars on Two Quintessential Summer Covers of Vogue Paris

With past cover girls including Gisele Bündchen, Andreea Diaconu and Iselin Steiro, the June/July editions of Vogue Paris always make a splash. This summer, Edie Campbell is welcomed back to the cover of the French fashion bible for a third time with a trip to the palm-fringed beaches of Mauritius (last month’s cover girl Anna Ewers was also shot on the island). Photographed by Mikael Jansson and styled by Emmaneulle Alt, Edie stars on two gorgeous covers, flaunting sun-kissed skin while baking in the scorching heat.

Vacay to Mauritius, anyone? Our forum members sure were in the mood after seeing these covers. “It’s funny how my favorite covers of Alt’s is the June/July one every year. Edie looks fabulous,” said dodencebt.

“June/July is always a hit for VP but this time, it’s even better!” echoed Lola701.

“Everything about this cover works… Edie looks gorgeous!” raved Zposen.

Vanessa Kirby Looks Like a Modern-Day Princess on UK Harper’s Bazaar’s June Cover

UK Harper’s Bazaar, holding true to its quintessentially British aesthetic, channels all the Royal Wedding excitement for the new June 2018 issue. The magazine appropriately taps The Crown‘s Vanessa Kirby, who evokes a modern-day princess throughout the polished cover story, photographed by regular Bazaar contributor Alexi Lubomirski on location at the magnificent Oxford Manor. In the newsstand cover (below), Vanessa poses in a lilac Valentino Haute Couture creation styled by Miranda Almond, while in the subscribers cover (after the jump), the actress is all smiles wearing an ultra-feminine Oscar de la Renta dress in the bathtub.

The moment the covers struck, our forum members were captivated. “Bazaar does such beautiful covers. Alexi is very good photographer,” complemented caioherrero.

“One of those rare cases where I actually don’t mind the tried and tested formula. I can’t help it. I love their aesthetic,” confessed Yohji.

In agreement was forum member honeycombchild. “They’re consistent, I kind of like that. I haven’t bought the magazine in years now but I think it’s always a safe bet. You know what you’re getting and they tend to always deliver exactly what their audience wants,” he voiced.

Emily Ratajkowski Returns to the Cover of Marie Claire for June 2018

We’ve been notoriously hard on the American edition of Marie Claire over the years (with good reason) but the magazine has a newfound confidence following a series of terrific covers featuring the likes of Hailee Steinfeld, Reese Witherspoon and Alicia Vikander and has regained the attention of theFashionSpot forums. For June 2018, US Marie Claire welcome back Emily Ratajkowski as its cover girl, photographed by Thomas Whiteside for the occasion. Throughout the accompanying cover shoot, the Kérastase brand ambassador was styled by Deborah Watson and wears a checked Burberry hat teamed with a Ralph Lauren shirt in the laid-back cover image.

The cover received mixed reviews from our forum members. “She’s pretty covered up for someone who walks around barely clothed most of the time! Looks like a fall cover, not summer,” pointed out Handbag Queen the moment the cover came to light.

“Does look like an autumn cover, but all I see is messy hair. The minimal art direction is lovely, but this cover is a pass for me. Too basic for June,” Benn98 chimed in.

Do Katy Perry and Rihanna Deserve Vogue’s Met Gala Special Edition Cover?

Along with the annual Met Gala follows Vogue‘s ‘Special Edition‘ issue documenting the star-studded event and, in true American Vogue fashion, the magazine unsurprisingly gives up the front cover to Vogue favorites Katy Perry and Rihanna (who is the publication’s current June 2018 cover girl). The image, taken at the gala by Corey Tenold (and also appearing online during the event), shows Katy posing in her Versace ensemble (angel wings et al) and Rihanna standing confidently in custom Maison Margiela by John Galliano.

Given the many other high-profile celebs the magazine could have selected (we feature 101 of them here), our forum members weren’t all too impressed. “The people who actually looked great got ignored once again. Incidentally, I happen to think these were two of the worst looks of the evening. Who would want to invest in a bunch of images which one could easily source online anyway?” asked Benn98.

“Katy Perry looked awful that night…. dress was way too small, boots were ridiculous and the angel wings were a mess! Can’t believe they put her on the cover with Rihanna,” fumed Handbag Queen.
