Opening Ceremony and Calvin Klein (and, indirectly, Kate Moss) are supporting AIDS research in #theircalvins. Yesterday the newest offering from the two brands’ ongoing collaboration (past releases include versions of the Modern Cotton bralette and boy shorts embroidered with an OC label) debuted on the Opening Ceremony website. The capsule collection features four crewneck tees — two black, two white — screen-printed with images from the David Sims-lensed 1993 Calvin Klein Underwear campaign.

“These images might as well have been shot today, they’re so fresh,” Leon told The New York Times, adding that the 90s resurgence had little to do with his and fellow creative director Carol Lim’s choice of subject matter: “Calvin Klein had a specific point of view that was innovative. I don’t think that we like being nostalgic or bringing things back for the sake of trends. It’s about moments that have been ingrained in us.” (more…)

Blogger Chiara Ferragni Just Scored Her Second Vogue Cover and We Love It (Forum Buzz)

Chiara Ferragni has a list of magazine covers that most models could only dream of. She made history back in 2015 by becoming the first blogger to ever grace the cover of Vogue, securing herself a cover for Spanish Vogue. Now it’s Vogue Turkey giving Chiara the honor once again, as she poses on the magazine’s recently revealed August 2016 edition. Photographed by Miguel Reveriego, the Italian blogger and entrepreneur gives us a classic and timeless portrait image with perfectly coiffed hair and a complementing makeup look our forum members are just loving.

“I like it. Very understated elegance-ish, the sparkles from the sequins add something else,” praised kokobombon immediately.

“Oh wow this is good. I love the hair. The mood. Yes,” added a pleasantly surprised MON. (more…)

Everyone Is Freaking Out About How Much This Olympic Archer Looks Like Leonardo DiCaprio

Today in the world of news that will never make an appearance on the front page of the New York Times but we’re really glad happened anyway: Yet another Leonardo DiCaprio doppelganger has arisen! The latest and second greatest of the Leo look-alike tribe (Dane DeHaan is nothing to sniff at) is Brady Ellison, 27-year-old American Olympic archer.

When Arizona-born Ellison, one of the world’s top-ranked archers, claimed a silver medal at the team event Saturday, his expertly shot arrow pierced through the hearts of Titanic, Revenant and (to keep this brief) Martin Scorsese fans the world over. Ellison, who’s often referred to as “The Prospector” due to his affinity for “finding gold,” shares his Oscar-winning alter ego’s intense stare, dashing goatee and killer bone structure — to a point. We have to admit the resemblance does fade somewhat once Ellis puts down his bow.  (more…)

Inez and Vinoodh Photograph Tavi Gevinson for Teen Vogue’s September Cover (Forum Buzz)

Teen Vogue has been doing pretty well for itself lately (June/July‘s bore aside) and at the beginning of the year was doing incredible, bestowing upon us covers with the likes of Zoe Kravitz and Willow Smith. Now, amid some major staff changes, Teen Vogue taps Tavi Gevinson as its cover subject for September 2016. Bringing in heavyweight photographic duo Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin for the occasion along with the formidable Grace Coddington on styling duties, we’re on board with Teen Vogue‘s new outlook. Tavi wears Tommy Hilfiger on the cover and our forum members are full of praise.

“Very Edie Campbell. Good for them that they have I&V shooting for them,” added an impressed anlabe32. (more…)

Transgender Model Lea T Broke Barriers at the Rio 2016 Opening Ceremonies

Much to our pleasant surprise, the highlight of the Rio Olympics’ Opening Ceremony wasn’t the Stella McCartney-outfitted Brits, the Cameroon team’s stunning dashikis or Gisele’s shimmery strut across Maracana Stadium (although all were sights to behold). Nope, the most inspiring moment of the evening came when Brazilian transgender model Lea T pedaled into the arena, guiding her home team during the Parade of Nations.

The former Givenchy campaign star (bestie Riccardi Tisci cast her in his 2010 campaign, inspiring Lea, née Leandra Medeiros Cerezo, to change her professional surname T as in Tisci) is the first transgender individual to feature prominently in the opening ceremonies. Garbed in a flag-themed frock and white sneakers, the Redken muse rode her flag-ornamented bike with pride. (more…)

Lara Stone and Steven Klein Deliver an ‘Embarrassingly Bad’ Vogue Italia Cover for August (Forum Buzz)

After a knockout July cover starring Vittoria Ceretti, we expected that Vogue Italia and Steven Meisel would bring their A-game for the next collaboration. Unfortunately, this month’s sports-inspired cover featuring a statuesque Lara Stone has failed to impress our forum members. Photographed wearing a black floor-length Philipp Plein dress, Lara poses à la Angelina Jolie while holding a bench above her head — a concept that leaves us scratching our heads.

“Nobody’s best moment,” commented tigerrogue straight away, about to set the tone for commentary to come.

“Usually I like her a lot but not in this picture,” sighed June. (more…)
