Ruby Rose Speaks out After Being Accused of Throwing Food at Restaurant Staff

Ruby Rose has taken to Facebook to explain her involvement in an incident in a New Orleans restaurant last weekend. Rose, who is touring the United States at the moment, was reportedly kicked out of the restaurant after throwing fries at a waiter.

Rebellion Bar and Urban Kitchen owner Seung Hong told Nola that Rose “cursed out” the bartender. “She was having a tantrum,” said Hong, “She was a horrible person.”

Hong said that he had offered to comp Rose’s party their appetizers, but that she declined and threw food at a bartender. “One of my bartenders was walking by and could tell they were upset, and [Rose] threw food at him. … Ruby told my bartender that if she was a bigger man, she would kick my ass, meaning me.”

In a post, the Orange Is The New Black star has told her side of the story, revealing that she had felt offended by the waiter who she said had made comments about her sobriety after she’d already waited over an hour for her meal.

Watch: Amy Schumer and Lena Dunham Tackle Sizeism in This Hilarious Skit

Amy Schumer may not have appreciated being (seemingly) labeled “plus-size” by Glamour, but she’s still ready to go to bat against the retail industry’s ridiculous weight standards. A recently released study by the NPD Group showed that clothing stores are virtually ignoring their largest potential consumer base — curvy women — and, as if on cue, Schumer premiered a skit mocking this absurd reality.

In a Kafkaesque alternate universe, Amy sees a shirt she likes in a store and, not finding her size on the display, enlists the help of a salesperson. In a phony, upbeat voice, the woman asks Amy if she’s looked under the table. When a frustrated Amy reemerges empty-handed and repeats her question, she’s met with, “Could you keep your voice down? You’re scaring the thinner customers.” (more…)

Margot Robbie Does Bronzed Goddess Perfectly on Vogue’s June Cover (Forum Buzz)

After much speculation as to just who might be starring on Vogue‘s upcoming issue, with names like Blake Lively being thrown about inside the Cover Rumor Thread, it turns out our speculation wasn’t completely off as it is indeed another blonde for June 2016. Margot Robbie is Vogue‘s new cover girl, making her debut on the cover for the very first time. The Legend of Tarzan actress smoulders in a leopard print swimsuit from Michael Kors, flashing an energetic smile complete with a glowing and radiant complexion. Now firm favorites of Anna Wintour, photographic duo Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott captured the Aussie stunner, who is joined by co-star Alexander Skarsgård in the cover story.

It didn’t take long to catch the attention of our forum members. “My goodness I love it! Probably one of the best US Vogue cover I’ve seen in a while. The smile is inviting, and it makes me happy. Stunning. And the bronzed effect is working,” raved MON straight away.

“Stunning, a lot of tan, but possibly the best cover I have seen with her. She is one of those amazingly beautiful women, that magazines don’t always show in the best light. But leave it to Vogue to make her look sexy and beautiful,” Miss Dalloway approved. (more…)

Calvin Klein Under Fire for Ads That Glamorize Sexual Harassment

The National Center on Sexual Exploitation has issued a petition against one of the ads in Calvin Klein's latest campaign.

Image: Harley Weir/Calvin Klein

When Calvin Klein dubbed its latest global ad campaign “Erotica” and filled it with images of Kendall Jenner squeezing sexually suggestive fruit, Abbey Lee Kershaw grasping her ladyhood and a shot of Klara Kristin taken from down under, we had a feeling they’d wake a sleeping bear…or fifty. In this case, those sleeping bears are a boatload of angry Twitter users along with (drumroll please) the National Center on Sexual Exploitation (NCOSE), which is calling for the retraction of the aforementioned Klara Kristin spot.

While the company is known for its overtly sexual ads, this particular assortment does push the envelope a lot further than former campaigns. That said, thanks to Instagram and other forms of social media, Calvin’s models are probably not the only posturing provocateurs you saw half-naked last week. The real question is whether the images empower our generation and combat the stigma of sexual exploration or, in the case of the up-the-skirt flick, whether fashion photographer Harley Weir’s snap normalizes and glamorizes sexual harassment. Does Taylor Swift Deserve the Cover of Vogue’s Met Gala Special Edition? (Forum Buzz)

If you haven’t already seen (or even recognized, for that matter) a platinum blond Taylor Swift on the cover of Vogue‘s May 2016 issue, you’re also about to see her on the front of the magazine’s Met Gala Special Edition 2016 issue. Wearing a custom cut-out Louis Vuitton dress (no doubt chosen by Anna Wintour) and following in the footsteps of Rihanna and Beyoncé, the Met Gala co-chair was captured at the event by photographer Theo Wenner for the cover, which has caused quite the stir on our forums.

Members of our forums weren’t thrilled with the magazine’s choice. “Was she really the best dressed of that night!? And two covers for her? Same theme? Nah,” MON disapproved immediately.

Forum member tigerrouge thought the two covers looked similar: “Even more of an eyesore than her current Vogue cover.” (more…)
