Edward Enninful’s First British Vogue Cover Is Finally Here — and It’s Stunning!

The wait is over: Edward Enninful’s debut cover as editor-in-chief of British Vogue is here. Ever since Condé Nast announced his appointment back in April, our forums have been rife with speculation as to who might score the December cover — and we called it. Fronting the newly unveiled (and utterly divine) cover is model-of-the-moment Adwoa Aboah. In addition to the wonderful casting, the legendary Steven Meisel came on board to photograph the cover story with Enninful himself taking up the role as stylist. In the electrifying, vintage-inspired cover image, the current face of Marc Jacobs Beauty wears a look from Jacobs’ Spring 2018 collection.

Our forums erupted with excitement. “This is so beautiful. It looks like a vintage cover but there is something so fresh about it. Adwoa looks so glamorous! The colors, the lighting, the framing and the styling are all gorgeous; everything works perfectly together,” applauded LastNight.

“I love this! It looks so vintage and GLAM!” praised Khabeer. (more…)

Diane Kruger’s Vogue Germany Cover for December Is ALMOST Flawless

Vogue Germany has been pretty solid throughout 2017, producing a series of strong covers featuring the likes of Saskia de Brauw, Christy Turlington and Vittoria Ceretti (we’re willing to overlook the Claudia Schiffer disaster in September). The magazine closes out the year on a high note, giving us exactly what we crave for a December cover: glamour, style and a touch of festivity. Diane Kruger makes a return to the title, three years after her last cover, and receives the full Luigi & Iango treatment. Serving extremely good face, the actress wears a glitzy feathered and embellished Alexander McQueen number.

The cover ultimately received mixed feedback from our forum members. “Easily her best cover, out of the four she has done for them. Stunning,” declared Miss Dalloway immediately after seeing the cover.

“Stunning! I can feel the festive vibe,” added IndigoHomme. (more…)

Where’s the Spirit in Alicia Vikander’s Louis Vuitton ‘Spirit of Travel’ Campaign?

Ever since Nicolas Ghesquière took the reins at Louis Vuitton, our forums have been complaining about Alicia Vikander’s affiliation with the French fashion house. Given the number of times our members have been disappointed by her various advertising campaigns for the brand, it’s no surprise that the new ‘Spirit of Travel’ campaign featuring the Swedish actress has, once again, failed to enchant our forums. Photographed by Patrick Demarchelier, Alicia takes us to the island of Ibiza, surrounded by water and sporting Vuitton’s Cruise 2018 collection. (Is it just us, or do these ads make you want to take a vacation — not rush down to the nearest Louis Vuitton store?)

Members of our forums were unimpressed. “They really could have stepped it up with the styling. The outfits chosen do absolutely nothing to enhance the bags which are actually quite awful. The Cruise 2018 collection was good, it’s not being shown to its full potential,” complained GivenchyHomme at once.

“Again, no ‘spirit’ at all. Boring!” declared gazebo. (more…)

Raquel Zimmermann Rides the Elevator on Vogue Italia’s Failed November Cover Concept

The themed issues continue over at Vogue Italia.  For September, there was ‘The Italian Issue,’ last month gave us ‘The Timeless Issue’ with Lauren Hutton, and now the November 2017 issue is dedicated to personalities. Raquel Zimmermann is Emanuele Farenti’s cover girl of choice (fresh from the sophisticated cover of Vogue Spain), lending her top model status to the fold-out cover. Photographed by Inez van Lamsweerde & Vinoodh Matadin, Raquel rides the elevator in both the cover images and throughout the entire cover story. Styled by Alex White, the Brazilian bombshell dons head-to-toe Fendi in the cover (below).

Despite forum-favorite Raquel scoring the cover, our forum members felt underwhelmed. “Happy for Raquel, but the cover is such a letdown. Sorry a big NO,” said MDNA the second the cover came to light.

“Her face and hair are gorgeous but the rest is just so amateurish. Happy for Raquel, I’m not happy with the result,” echoed Nymphaea. (more…)

Daisy Ridley Does Ladylike Glamour on V Magazine’s Winter 2017 Cover

Actress Daisy Ridley continues to gain momentum in the fashion industry, having recently proven herself on the November cover of American Vogue. The Brit delivers the goods once again as she fronts V Magazine‘s elegant cover feature for Winter 2017. With a completely different look than the Vogue shoot, Daisy does ladylike glamour for a series of portraits shot by Inez van Lamsweerde & Vinoodh Matadin and styled by Mel Ottenberg. In the cover image, Daisy works a Louis Vuitton tuxedo jacket and a crisp white shirt teamed with a pair of jeans, flashing a perfect smile.

Unfortunately, the cover ultimately failed to make an impact in our forums. “I like the cute intentional cheesiness of the smile, the hand whipping the hair and her hand on her hip. Reminds me when Scarlett Johansson was photographed for V in moody femme fatale lighting and styling, and instead of the usual sexy scowl, she had big cheesy smiles,” commented t-rex upon checking out the cover.

“I like that they went for something different and someone new, but this looks very Glamour. Still, I’m glad for Daisy. Things are finally happening for her,” Benn98 added. (more…)

Reese Witherspoon’s November Cover of WSJ Is Everything

Our forums have nothing but love for just about everything WSJ Magazine produces and the title’s cover for November 2017 is no exception. For its annual ‘The Innovators Issue‘, Reese Witherspoon makes her debut WSJ cover appearance (the outcome being a far cry from Reese’s recent disappointing Glamour cover). Shot by Cass Bird, Reese looks effortless and at ease in the flawless and serene cover image, captured outside as she cozies up in a chunky Burberry knit.

Our forum members were full of praise for the cover. “YASSS. This is easily Reese’s best cover in YEARS. She looks sensational. So natural and powerful and confident. Love love love everything about this,” wrote a delighted happycanadian.

“This is absolutely beautiful, everything about this is perfect. Reese looks stunning, the lighting, colors, setting, outfit and typography work wonderfully together. 10/10 cover!” proclaimed forum member LastNight. (more…)
