Dannii Minogue Gets Catty to Raise Skin Cancer Prevention Awareness

Target designer Dannii Minogue has painted herself in bold leopard spots to raise awareness for skin cancer prevention, in a short video campaign for Invisible Zinc and Melanoma Institute Australia.

A photo posted by danniiminogue (@danniiminogue) on

The video, titled “Some Spots Can Be Dangerous”, plays on the idea that while a leopard is unable to change its spots, we’re able to change our dangerous freckles and moles with simple skin checks over summer. “Australia has the world’s highest incidence of melanoma, so, please, get your spots checked,” Danni urges in the clip.

With Australia responsible for 75 per cent of all skin cancer deaths, Dannii knew this campaign was one she needed to be involved in. “When presented with these figures, along with the understanding that early detection could be lifesaving, I wanted to be part of this vitally important campaign,” she says.

For every share of the video, Invisible Inc is donating $1 to Melanoma Institute Australia, which pioneers vital research, essential treatment programs, improved patient options, and, hopefully, a cure. Watch the video for yourself below, and get sharing.

American Spending Falls This Black Friday

Image: WENN

Image: WENN

Bad news for anyone pinning their economic recovery hopes on Black Friday: Apparently, despite retailers’ best efforts to lure shoppers in, spending is down 11% from last year, according to Bloomberg. That would be roughly 6 million fewer customers this year vs. last. And all that after stores like K-Mart Black Friday-ed a day early, forcing allowing their workers and shoppers to spend Thanksgiving together. Aw, how sweet. But perhaps next year people can just stay home with their families?

Consumer spending was down $7 billion dollars this weekend, and this is the second year in a row that holiday sales have failed to please less than eager crowds. The glum news isn’t over yet: Less-than-fantastic figures are also expected for Cyber Monday, thanks to retailers extending sales throughout the week.

We’re getting the feeling that folks are simply just all Black Friday-ed out.

Smythe and Beaufille Collaborate on a Must-Have Jacket for Spring

Mick and Keith. Mac and cheese. Whiskey and soda. Good collaborations are timeless, and when it comes to fashion, they can also create the kind of must-have item you won’t be able to live without. This spring, Smythe designers Andrea Lenczner and Christie Smythe have collaborated with Chloé and Parris Gordon of Beaufille on a smoking jacket design that combines the former’s masculine-heavy aesthetic with the latter’s artisan sensibilities.

The Beaufille Collaboration Smoking Jacket sees Smythe’s classic single-button shawl collar silhouette reinterpreted in a delicate and feminine custom jacquard fabric. The imagery on the fabric was hand painted by Eve Gordon, a fine artist and mother of Chloé and Parris, and is based on a vintage Chinoiserie brocade. The jacket will be available in a blush shade for Spring 2015, and because both parties were so pleased with the collaboration, it will also be carried through for Pre-Fall 2015 in Pacific Blue.

The Spring 2015 Beaufille Collaboration Smoking Jacket will be in stores in early February. For locations, visit

Since When Have Vogue Turkey’s Covers Become So Dated? (Forum Buzz)

Lily Donaldson makes a rare appearance on the cover of Vogue Turkey’s December issue. It feels as though we hardly ever get to see the British beauty on the cover of Vogue lately, even though Lily’s last cover was for Vogue Korea’s 18th anniversary issue back in August 2014. We’re just nostalgic for those days when the 27 year old would captivate us on U.K. Vogue‘s front cover. But we don’t hold Lily responsible for this current disaster. It appears as though Vogue Turkey has been disappointing our forum members for some time now. The new font and layout the magazine has introduced isn’t sitting well with anyone.

Vogue Turkey December 2014 Lily Donaldson

“Lily is working it, but my god that text layout! When did they start using so much of it?!” questioned an unsatisfied Miss Dalloway.

Benn98 mentioned the amount of text, too: “Yay! When last have we seen Lily nab a cover? Looks good, but if you squint the leg positioning looks odd. I don’t recall them having this much text!”

“Seems like it’s from 5 years ago… very dated,” added an underwhelmed littlekiki.

GlamorousBoy agreed and echoed “very dated cover…” inside the thread.

Also not sold on the cover was Bertrando3: “It does not look appealing to me whatsoever. She looks tired and strange, the proportions are not working for me.”

A select few admired Turkish Vogue‘s efforts this month, though. “What a perfect cover for December. Lily looks fantastic. Her pale skin looks amazing on grey background. Her pose and this dress are really great. Can’t wait for an editorial!” enthused an optimistic and impressed narcyza.

“I like this, all the dots give the cover a festive feeling, Lily looks great,” complimented Nymphaea.

We guess Vogue Turkey deserves some slack, considering the magazine delivered a fabulous supermodel cover for November. Tell us what you think of its December 2014 cover inside the thread here.
