Joan Smalls, Kate Upton and Emily Ratajkowski Each Land a Glamour Cover for October (Forum Buzz)

Models on the covers of mainstream fashion glossies are unfortunately a rarity nowadays, so you can imagine our delight whenever one turns up. Having already impressed with Bella Hadid‘s gorgeous cover last month, Glamour keeps the standard up for October with not one, but three models. Joan Smalls, Kate Upton and Emily Ratajkowski were each handed a solo cover, shot by Carter Smith. Who came out on top, you ask?

“So it’s back to back model covers for Glamour, which is quite impressive… Kate’s cover looks the best so far, but I like what Joan’s wearing. It has that effortless and approachable vibe which works for Glamour,” raved Benn98 the second the covers dropped.

“How wonderful to see them embracing more model covers, and I like all three actually. Would definitely pick up the Kate Upton one though. Glamour is doing great this year!” Miss Dalloway approved moments later. (more…)

Katy Perry’s New Footwear Line Is as Fun and Quirky as You’d Expect

Katy Perry: pop star turned footwear mogul

When we think Katy Perry, we think bold personality, cute little kitties, anthropomorphic cupcakes and prismatic wigs. Which is why we were unsurprised to see that the pop princess’ new shoe line, made in partnership with Hong-Kong-based Global Brands Group, looks like a pair of Rochas heels married some Jeremy Scott jellies and reproduced (like) bunnies. And we mean that in a good way.

This is only the first of many creative projects we can expect from the Covergirl and Coty collaborator and Global Brands Group, whose business relationship will extend over the next several years. “This is an actual business for me; it’s different from some of my other things that are more endorsements. This is a real creation, a 50-50 deal. I’m not doing it because of anything other than it’s my baby and I need someone to help me distribute it across the world. I trust Global and I need their expertise, so it’s going to be one of those things that in the long run will hopefully pay off. I just have to pay attention every step of the way and learn a lot and apply it,” she told WWD. In other words, an accessories and even apparel line may be in our future. (more…)

Thanks to Google, You Can Now Shop Your Favorite Fashion Week Street Style Looks

We appreciate the see-now-shop-now sentiment that’s infiltrated Fashion Month and promises to allow so-called industry outsiders instantaneous access to the goods that parade down those problematically cast runways…but let’s be real here. Few of us are ready, willing or able to hop on to and lay out several hundred dollars for that flawless leather bucket bag on the spot. Instead, we sift through each of our favorite designer collections, whittle our wildest desires down to a list, agonize over said list for several days, then finally take the plunge and buy maybe one or two investment pieces.

Which is why the latest announcement from Google has our interest piqued. The life-changing search engine is not only allowing users access to real-time images of runway looks, BTS content courtesy of the designers themselves and the ability to immediately shop the collections, it’s also giving users the scoop on where to snatch up those coveted (and oftentimes, more affordable) off-runway looks. What do Laverne Cox and Bill Clinton have in common? An undeniable fondness for Beyoncé. Whilst Bill celebrated #Beyday chatting up the icon herself at the fifth annual Budweiser Made in American Festival, Cox paid tribute to the Lemonade star in a manner totally befitting the Orange is the New Black actress. See above/below.

On the eve of her Rocky Horror Picture Show debut — in which Cox will attempt to best Tim Curry’s Dr. Frank-N-Furter — the transgender rights activist and Cosmo cover girl dressed up as several badass black women from who’ve inspired her, Queen B included.
