Isabelle Huppert Shows How It’s Done at 63, on T Magazine’s Timeless Holiday Cover

Every month, there’s one fashion title that completely takes our fancy and this month, the honor goes to T: The New York Times Style Magazine. Joining W Magazine by shunning the younger generation of cover stars, T serves Isabelle Huppert as its cover subject for Holiday 2016. Photographed by Craig McDean, the French actress shows how it’s done at age 63 in a series of classic black and white portraits.

The cover was an instant success on our forums. “Queen Isabelle styled by Marie-Amelié Sauvé, just like in the Balenciaga years – I’m in heaven! A must-buy for me. She is so charismatic, a real queen!” rejoiced a delighted Lola701.

“A real queen indeed! Amazing cover star and cover. I wish Vogue Paris would take note. It still baffles me that she never got a French Vogue cover. She, McDean and Sauvé make a perfect trio. The portraits are so beautiful even though it’s a bit funny that Marie-Amelié styled her in quite a young version of her. There’s a slightly late 70s feeling, like an homage to her early Claude Chabrol years but it works really well and it’s so effortlessly chic,” echoed Wolkfolk. (more…)

Michelle Williams and Her Platinum Pixie Make an Appearance on Porter’s Winter Escape Cover

Our forums love it when a new issue of Porter is on the horizon, but we can’t remember the last time we felt this let down by a cover from the glossy. Sienna Miller‘s joyful May cover was exactly what we needed, but both Alicia Vikander and model Edita Vilkevicute have disappointed on recent issues. Sadly, the Winter Escape issue starring Michelle Williams isn’t enough to turn the trend around. Photographed by Porter staple Ryan McGinley, the actress wears a sequined Michael Kors striped dress while showing off her platinum blonde pixie hairstyle.

Michelle’s cover was met with mixed reviews from our forum members. “She bores me to tears with this platinum pixie,” HeatherAnne ranted the moment the cover dropped.

Sharing the same attitude was Wolkfolk, complaining, “Why did she cut and bleach her hair again! She went from cute Eddie Sedgwick-like with that hair to dried out Andy Warhol wig now. I wish she’d keep her hair long and in its natural shade.” (more…)

Ashley Graham Kicks Off 2017 With Her First Vogue Cover

Here’s hoping 2017 will be the year of diversity as British Vogue kick-starts the new year with a much-welcomed cover appearance by curve model Ashley Graham. The body positivity advocate gets the full Vogue treatment with a stunning portrait by Patrick Demarchelier.

TFS forum members were thrilled to see Ashley, but felt something was missing from the casually styled image. “Finally gets her first Vogue cover but it’s quite a safe cover,” stated TeeVanity the moment the cover struck.

“I’m not a fan of whatever is going on with her mouth, they should have chosen a photo with a different expression,” blueorchid critiqued. (more…)

Vogue Japan Gives Anna Ewers the Brigitte Bardot/Claudia Schiffer Treatment for January 2017

Vogue Japan has just delivered the first cover of the new year — and it’s a fierce one. While the majority of tFS forum members are still ogling the gorgeous December cover featuring Gigi Hadid, Japanese Vogue is moving on to January 2017 (yes, already) with German bombshell Anna Ewers. Channeling the likes of Brigitte Bardot and Claudia Schiffer, Anna rocks Miu Miu with a killer smoky eye and a nude lip, complemented by an effortlessly undone hairstyle before the lens of Vogue Japan regulars Luigi & Iango.

Amazingly, the cover generated mixed feedback on our forums. “The styling is atrocious especially compared to Anna’s hair and makeup which is beautiful, and reminds me very much of Natasha Poly,” Nymphaea pointed out.

“I don’t like the styling here but Anna is so good. Perfect choice for a start of the year!” approved narcyza. (more…)

Karl Lagerfeld Posed With Lily-Rose Depp for His Guest-Edited Edition of Vogue Paris

The holiday editions of Vogue Paris are usually a pretty big deal and it was announced on our forums in October that Karl Lagerfeld was scheduled to guest edit the magazine’s double holiday edition. Much to our delight, the Kaiser himself poses on the front cover for December – and who better to join him than girl-of-the-moment Lily-Rose Depp? The pair were photographed by Lagerfeld favorite Heidi Slimane for the occasion, captured in black and white (another Lagerfeld signature). It was only last year that her mother Vanessa Paradis guest edited the title and with Lily-Rose’s affiliation with Chanel, our forum members aren’t entirely surprised by the outcome.

Members of our forums weren’t afraid to vent. “All this waiting for… this! Bored by Vogue Paris,” wrote CocoM.

“Grandad and grandchild! The same boring concept à la Cindy [Crawford] with Kaia [Gerber] on Vogue Netherlands. Karl looks like he’s been to a plastic surgeon like Michael Jackson! Lily looks lovely but brings nothing extra. I expected more from Hedi, this is very bland from him: a standard family portrait,” said a disapproving Nymphaea. (more…)

Jennifer Lawrence Looks Lika a Silver Screen Goddess on Vanity Fair’s Holiday Cover

Aside from the odd Christian Dior handbag campaign, there’s been a startling lack of Jennifer Lawrence on the fashion circuit. Amazingly, Jennifer only appeared on the cover of Harper’s Bazaar and Glamour in 2016, but now Vanity Fair has tapped the actress for its annual Holiday Issue. In true Peter Lindbergh form, Jennifer looks every inch the silver screen goddess wearing a figure-enhancing and delightfully festive red Christian Dior dress in the cinematic shot.

“Yikes, it looks like the Italian version of Vanity Fair. Not a bad shot, but so budget and amateur. This is Jennifer’s sixth VF cover, three of them were for the Hollywood edition, the rest all OG. Quite an accomplishment,” pointed out Benn98.

“I expect better from Lindbergh, but perhaps his black and white imagery is too artsy for a Vanity Fair cover?” asked a disapproving kokobombon. (more…)
