Oprah Stars on WSJ Magazine’s Joyous March 2018 Cover

You’re about to see a whole lot more of Oprah at the newsstand (and we predict even more so throughout 2018). Laura Brown brilliantly tapped the American philanthropist for InStyle‘s latest and now Oprah makes an appearance on WSJ Magazine‘s March 2018 ‘Women’s Fashion’ edition. The publication has been a favorite of the tFS forums ever since its debut in 2008 and continues to impress, doing Oprah justice with a joyous and momentous cover shot. Photographed by Mario Sorrenti and styled by George Cortina, Oprah lifts our spirits wearing an Azzedine Alaia jumpsuit.

Members of our forums were into it. “I love this. I think it represents Oprah perfectly and she looks ‘on fleek,'” noted FadeToBlack.

“Well, I like the vintage feel of the image, and her shape adds a lot of character to it. Maybe the pose is a bit too Messianic/iconic, and would probably befit a Nobel prize winner better. But Oprah has done a lot for the entertainment industry, so it makes sense,” commented Benn98. (more…)

Selena Gomez Looks a Lot Like Kylie Jenner on the March Cover of Harper’s Bazaar

Just about every fashion publication has encountered some major staff changes over the past twelve months and we’re starting to think US Harper’s Bazaar is in dire need of a shakeup too. Our forums have become increasingly tired of the same old cover formula and the newly unveiled March 2018 issue is no exception. Returning to Bazaar‘s front cover after her April 2013 appearance is Selena Gomez, photographed by Bazaar regular Alexi Lubomirski. Selena is all smiles in the newsstand cover (below), sporting a dress from Coach (with which she is now well affiliated) and a blond hairdo.

Something about the cover seems off and our forum members instantly picked up on it. “I (unashamedly) love me some Selena but she looks like she has entered a beauty pageant competition here. It’s a disaster of a cover. Also, has that Coach dress been Photoshopped on her? That CANNOT be how a real dress drapes around the armpits,” an eagle-eyed dodencebt pointed out.

“WTF! Look at this hair, complete disaster,” echoed ghostwriter10549. (more…)

Katy Perry’s Garish Glamour Cover Proves It’s Time for Change at the Magazine

After months of questionable covers, we officially can’t wait for Glamour‘s new editor-in-chief Samantha Barry to unveil her first issue of the magazine. The title still manages to reign in big names, like Tracee Ellis Ross as last month’s cover girl, Gigi HadidReese Witherspoon and now, Katy Perry for March 2018. The singer is her usual OTT self in the cover shot wearing Louis Vuitton and giving us major flashbacks of vintage copies of i-D Magazine from the 80s in the loud Emma Summerton-shot image.

Per usual, our forums won’t be rushing down to the newsstand. “I got a headache just by looking at this,” stated a far from impressed apple upon checking out the cover.

“Yikes, they’re going downhill fast! Hope the new EIC will be able to restore order because everything about this cover is tragic. How do they expect magazines to survive with such images?” quizzed a horrified Benn98. (more…)

Alexander McQueen Just Dropped the Best Campaign of the Spring 2018 Season, Starring Model Shanelle Nyasiase

The majority of the Spring 2018 campaigns are now out, but nothing could have prepared us for the sheer brilliance of Alexander McQueen’s offering. Receiving a standing ovation from our forum members, creative director Sarah Burton replaces model Rianne van Rompaey with the beautiful Shanelle Nyasiase. Jamie Hawkesworth maintains his role as campaign photographer and transports us to the tropical climate of Brazil, shooting the striking campaign on location amongst the lush gardens of the Sítio Roberto Burle estate.

TFS forum members couldn’t contain their excitement. “So regal and the location is perfect. I really like the lighting too. Look at those colors,” proclaimed simon at once.

“Majestic! Everything works so perfectly together, the location, the stunning photography and of course Shanelle is such a gem. Not only the clothes look incredible against her skin but it’s also the way she wears them. Such grace,” declared Wolkfolk. (more…)

Dakota Fanning Finally Becomes a Vogue Cover Girl on Vogue Australia’s February Issue

Vogue Australia gave us sleek and sophisticated last month with a stunning Carey Mulligan and now takes us down a different path for February 2018. It’s hard to believe Dakota Fanning has never been on the cover of Vogue before (unlike sister Elle Fanning) but we guess it’s better late than never as she finally makes her debut on Aussie Vogue‘s latest. Photographed by Emma Summerton, Dakota was styled by Natasha Royt throughout the bright and flamboyant cover shoot, wearing Gucci in the newsstand cover image (below).

Unfortunately, our forum members weren’t buying it. “Like, why, do people care about her? They tried to make her look very Gemma [Ward]-ish, and it’s a cool concept, but she is so boring to me,” commented HeatherAnne upon seeing the cover.

“Yeah, I thought she was Gemma at first glance. I think it’s a very pretty concept. Is she having a comeback of sorts? I feel like her sister overtook her and now Dakota seems to be creeping back into the spotlight,” Elite13 added. (more…)

Is the Third Campaign a Charm for Zara and Steven Meisel? Our Forums Weigh In

After two consecutive advertising campaigns shot by Steven Meisel, Zara must have been paying attention to our forum members’ praise when they decided to bring the legendary fashion photographer back for Spring 2018. Shying away from the classic gray backdrops, Meisel switches it up and shoots a handful of his current muses around a bohemian-looking set. Adut Akech, Ansley Gulielmi, Aube Jolicoeur, Cara Taylor, Fran Summers, Kiki Arai, Lea Julian, Remington Williams, Rianne van Rompaey and Vittoria Ceretti were Meisel’s models of choice this season, along with Karl Templer on styling duties.

For the first time, the Meisel-shot campaign left our forums divided. “I love it. The setting and styling looks splendid. Easily one of my favorites so far and yet another small victory for Zara,” applauded Benn98 upon checking out the images.

“I like it. Its perfect for Zara. Zara + Meisel is bringing us the good stuff,” stated ghostwriter10549. (more…)
