Is Sandra Bullock’s Cover of InStyle Boring or Beautiful?

It’s hard to believe that Sandra Bullock’s last notable appearance on a mainstream fashion glossy was for an over-Photoshopped cover of Glamour back in November 2015. Laura Brown welcomes Sandra back to the circuit, making the American actress InStyle‘s cover girl for June 2018 (following up a simply stunning Zoe Kravitz cover last month). Photographed by Carter Smith and styled by Paul Cavaco, Sandra radiates throughout the cover shoot and poses in a red printed Alberta Ferretti dress in the newsstand cover (below).

Once the cover broke, our forums were a divided bunch. “Gorgeous, she looks so good,” Miss Dalloway approved at once.

“Always nice to see someone different on the covers of fashion magazines. I did used to love when Sandra would be photographed by Steven Meisel for American Vogue!” vogue28 chimed in.

KINGofVERSAILLES liked what he was seeing too, commenting, “Some of the best shots of Sandra I think I’ve ever seen! Sufficiently dressed up but it still feels like Sandra Bullock, not a stylist creation. They’re not particularly imaginative and bold, but they’re very flattering.”

British Vogue and Steven Meisel Give Cara Delevingne Her Best Magazine Cover Ever

Ever since he took over at British Vogue, Edward Enninful has been under extreme scrutiny on our forums. Aside from hiring some diverse cover subjects, Enninful has been commissioning Steven Meisel to shoot select covers (Adwoa Aboah for December and Gigi & Bella Hadid for March), much to our delight. For June 2018, Meisel is back to shoot Cara Delevingne for the very first time, exceeding all expectations as she works a show-stopping Noel Stewart hat, styled by Joe McKenna.

Members of our forums were…speechless (well, almost). “This might be the first time I actually like Cara, it’s a stunning portrait,” admired marsnoop2 the moment the cover dropped.

“This is pretty iconic,” exclaimed Ed.

“Finally a great cover from Edward’s takeover, and this has potential to be iconic or even timeless,” MDNA applauded.

This Looks Nothing Like Gigi Hadid on the Cover of Vogue Italia’s May Issue

It was only a matter of time before Emanuele Farneti jumped on the Gigi Hadid bandwagon for Vogue Italia (since he’s already endorsed Bella Hadid) and, sure enough, there she is on the cover of the May 2018 issue. Replacing last month’s striking Adut Akech cover at the newsstands, Gigi does ‘High Voltage’ glamour for her third Italian Vogue cover appearance, decked out in glitzy Dolce & Gabbana. Joined by male model Justin Martin, the pair was Photoshopped photographed by Steven Klein and it didn’t take our forum members long to notice something…odd.

“Oh my goodness! THIS. DOES. NOT. LOOK. LIKE. HER,” MON said the second the cover came to light.

“There is absolutely no excuse for an image this Photoshopped to make it to print, let alone the cover! Come on!!” exclaimed fee de foret.

Also quick to express their horror was forum member anlabe32: “Words cannot describe how bad this is. Gigi is the worst model ever but even for her this is a new low.” (more…)

No Words: Rihanna’s Fifth Cover of Vogue Is Flawless

As speculated and discussed on our forums back in March, Rihanna is back on the cover of Vogue. The Barbadian songstress more than deserves the honor as she’s yet to disappoint on the cover of the American fashion bible — and her fifth appearance for June 2018 is no exception. Shot by photographic duo Mert Alas & Marcus Piggott and styled by Tonne Goodman, Rihanna poses under the warm Ibiza sunshine wearing Dolce & Gabbana in the captivating cover image.

Our forum members were in awe the moment the cover dropped. “Stunning! The best Rihanna cover for US Vogue. Their best in a long time too,” raved MON.

“Gorgeous! Love the use of blue type, it makes me think of their covers from the early/mid noughties. The backdrop is stunning as well and Rihanna just captivates you with the look in her eyes, she really knows how to work the camera,” LastNight acknowledged.

Alessandra Ambrosio Celebrates 20 Years of Modeling With a Lackluster Vogue Brazil Cover

It’s official: Vogue Brazil has lost its luster. We’ve witnessed the publication’s steady decline ever since that horrifying Paris Jackson cover in January, with subsequent issues showing no signs of improvement. This month, the team had the perfect opportunity to redeem themselves with Alessandra Ambrosio’s 20-year modeling anniversary celebration and eighth cover for the magazine. Sadly, the questionable cover, shot by Rafael Pavarotti, fails to feature the Brazilian bombshell in the best light as she’s shot on location in South Korea right after the Louis Vuitton show.

Our forum members definitely weren’t into it. “They forgot how to work this year. Please God, take Silvia Rogar away. This woman is lost. This magazine is lost. This looks like Glamour not Vogue,” said caioherrero upon checking out the cover.

Kim Kardashian Covers The Business of Fashion’s ‘Age of Influence’ Issue

Did you know The Business of Fashion discreetly releases two print issues per year? We practically forgot too — until now. Its eleventh print edition, which is the latest to become the topic of conversation on our forums, focuses on “The Age of Influence” — and who better than Kim Kardashian to star on the cover? The influential reality TV star/social media sensation/makeup mogul follows in the footsteps of Victoria Beckham and Anna Wintour by becoming a BoF cover subject. Kim ditches the gimmicks and OTT makeup for the simple shoot, photographed by Ben Hassett and styled by George Cortina.

Members of our forums weren’t exactly enthralled by Kim K making an appearance on the title. “The Age of Influence. Yeah tell that to your husband,” MON laughed.

“The vermin of pop culture! Can’t believe there are still magazines out there who glorify this airhead. I’m not even interested to hear how well her makeup range is selling (which is probably what this cover story is all about),” slammed Benn98.

“Unless she’s here to say something I haven’t heard before — suddenly speaking off-script about the inner workings of the family-fakery, or providing incisive analysis about personal branding and the reach of social media, then I’ll pass on this week’s advert for the KKW,” tigerrouge added.
