Kaia Gerber Serves Supermodel Vibes on the Cover of Vogue Paris for February

Emmanuelle Alt sure does love a good flashback to the 80s and this is clearly evident with the February 2018 cover of Vogue Paris. Kaia Gerber, the queen of New York Fashion Week Spring 2018, spreads her wings and flies solo this month, photographed by David Sims. Styled by Alt herself, the 16-year-old Cindy Crawford mini-me turns up the energy while commanding our attention in a high-octane Saint Laurent outfit, serving some serious supermodel vibes.

Kaia’s first solo Vogue cover generated a mixture of feedback on our forums. “The 80s reign continues…” sighed Scotty the moment the cover dropped.

“We have seen this a million times, Emmanuelle,” StockholmFW added. (more…)

Gigi Hadid and Others Star in Valentino’s Striking Spring 2018 Campaign

Leave it to Dutch photographic duo Inez van Lamsweerde & Vinoodh Matadin to give a brand like Valentino a fresh and exciting new image (which was sorely needed after the Terry Richardson trainwreck campaign for Resort 2018). The charming and energetic Spring 2018 campaign stars models Gigi Hadid, Adut Akech, Aurora Talarico, Felice Noordhoff, Oumie Jammeh and Rianne van Rompaey and the result is sheer brilliance.

Taylor Hill Strikes an Awkward Pose on Vogue Spain’s January Cover

Vogue Spain has been very hit or miss of late, producing covers that often fail to hit the mark (but certainly not Raquel Zimmermann‘s recent cover). After a passable Luna Bijl offering last month, the title welcomes Taylor Hill as its first cover girl of 2018. The Victoria’s Secret Angel and Michael Kors favorite was photographed in the studio by Bjorn Iooss wearing a fabulous floor-length Carolina Herrera creation in the unconventional full-length newsstand cover shot.

Members of our forums weren’t impressed with the cover. “That dress is too much for Taylor, her awkward pose shows it all. And it’s very similar to the lookbook shot. Not a winning look nor cover. Come to think of it, I don’t think I’ve ever seen a really good cover of hers,” noted Benn98.

“Not a cover-worthy shot, she is stunning, but this is such a nonevent for me. In fact, the new editor-in-chief [Eugenia de la Torriente] seems to lack the talent for striking cover images. I don’t like that dress either,” said an underwhelmed Miss Dalloway. (more…)

Drew Barrymore Plays Dress-Up for InStyle’s February Cover Shoot

Laura Brown continues to overhaul InStyle and despite taking it in a more commercial direction, our forum members still find joy in its covers (well… most of them). After a rather lackluster Zendaya cover for January, the publication dials it up a notch with cover girl Drew Barrymore for February 2018. Photographed by Anthony Maule, Drew poses up a storm in the eye-catching newsstand cover (below) wearing sequined Céline while adorably recreating some of her childhood photographs throughout the accompanying editorial.

Our forum members loved seeing Drew play dress-up. “Drew looks fabulous here. I love her expression and the pose is fire. And I’m honestly always here for her, she’s a genuine movie star and a throwback. Plus, she’s not all over the place these days, so I’m looking forward to what she has to say,” wrote happycanadian upon seeing the cover.

“I’m into this! At least it’s not her with a goofy grin and ringlet hair as usual,” appreciated Lucien122. (more…)

Bella Hadid Stars in Giuseppe Zanotti’s ‘Trashy’ Spring Campaign

After a remarkable 2017, it’s clear Bella Hadid isn’t going anywhere. A mere five days into 2018 and she’s already scored the cover of Vogue Korea, returned to star in the new Max Mara campaign and now reprises her gig as the face (and legs) of Giuseppe Zanotti. Zanotti commissioned photographic duo Mert Alas & Marcus Piggott to replace Mario Sorrenti, along with fashion icon Carine Roitfeld back on styling duties.

According to our forum members, the team has let standards slip for Spring 2018. “Sorrenti did it better, and I prefer the last season’s campaign,” commented badgalcrush the second the campaign dropped.

“Her body is banging! I’d take this any day over Stuart Weitzman. Although I’m not sure who would buy the shoes in the first image. Looks very dated,” noted Benn98. (more…)

Hailee Steinfeld Channels Brooke Shields on Marie Claire’s Gorgeous February Cover

We gave Marie Claire a hard time in 2017 for delivering awkward covers that were often over-styled or reeked of Photoshop. The new year is here and after a questionable Holiday 2017 cover featuring Gwen Stefani, the magazine does us proud for February 2018 with a gorgeous and glamorous cover featuring Hailee Steinfeld. Photographed by Kai Z Feng, the singer and actress serves major Brooke Shields realness, sporting bombshell hair and a smoldering makeup look while working a glitzy Saint Laurent number.

Overall, our forum members gave their seal of approval. “She’s a gorgeous girl, got a tiny bit of that Brooke Shields jailbait innocence about her in this shot,” pointed out tigerrouge.

“That’s a beautiful portrait,” added dfl-001. (more…)
