Solange Looks Glorious on Interview’s Powerful February Cover

Interview hasn’t been on our forum’s radar much since Willow and Jaden Smith‘s joint cover back in September. This month, the magazine reminds us that it’s still a contender with its newly-unveiled cover for February. Solange Knowles makes for a surprising yet welcome cover star, serving modern-day Diana Ross vibes in the powerful and arresting image by Mikael Jansson.

The cover became an instant sensation in our forums. “OMG this is sublime. Cannot wait to buy this issue. A Seat At The Table is one of the best albums last year. Solange is on fire!” declared happycanadian within moments of the cover dropping.

“What a beautiful cover! Just stunning. The inside shoot is amazing too, Mikael can do no wrong in my eyes and Solange is fantastic. I haven’t gotten round to picking up Interview in a while but I’ll definitely be getting this,” said an equally as impressed LastNight. (more…)

Gigi Hadid Lands Her Fifth Major Campaign for Spring 2017 (and Our Forums Hate It)

Last year’s International Model of the Year, Gigi Hadid, is well on her way toward owning 2017 as well. She already has spring campaigns for Moschino, Stuart Weitzman, Fendi and Max Mara under her belt, and now adds DSquared2 to the list. Photographed by Mert Alas & Marcus Piggott, Gigi poses solo for the Spring 2017 campaign, complete with OTT styling and soaking wet hair.

Unfortunately, our forums are calling it Gigi’s worst campaign of the season. “Well, that got disappointing fast. Plus, it kinda looks like a cheap Prada with that look, the hair and styling,” stated Scotty straight away, setting the tone for commentary to follow.

“More often than not, I’m the first to come to Gigi Hadid’s defense when everyone’s full of criticism but that shot isn’t exactly Gigi’s most finest. I hate it when Mert & Marcus go all artsy on us – this cut and paste job here is a total eyesore,” vogue28 disapproved. (more…)

Madonna Serves Old Hollywood Glamour for Harper’s Bazaar February

Last month, Harper’s Bazaar‘s kicked off its 150th anniversary year with Lady Gaga, and now another iconic pop star is following in her footsteps. Bazaar welcomes back Madonna for February 2017 with a flawless close-up image, photographed by Luigi and Iango. Serving us Old Hollywood glamour, Madonna’s cover story includes a series of gorgeous black and white images reminiscent of vintage movie stars.

The majority of our forum members were pleasantly surprised with the outcome. “Wow, I’m floored! It actually looks like one of her old images, but they’ve gone WAY overboard with the retouching to the point of rendering her unrecognizable (probably on her insistence?). That said, I like the first shot [below] which looks more like an editorial start. So refreshing to see her in a romantic dress and jewels,” acknowledged Benn98.

“Gorgeous! Makes me think of a vintage movie star,” admired Platinum Blonde. (more…)

Silly Styling (Courtesy of Carine Roitfeld) Ruins Arizona Muse’s Spring Chanel Ads

Arizona Muse was destined to star in Chanel’s Spring 2017 advertising campaign after having opened the show during Paris Fashion Week. Thankfully, there are no signs of collage, cut and paste, or bold Photoshop madness like last season’s mess, though that doesn’t guarantee a step up for the new campaign. Karl Lagerfeld captured Arizona against a plain studio backdrop, allowing Carine Roitfeld’s loud styling do all the talking — maybe a little too much talking.

Our forum members were quick to ignite debate. “Not surprised by how much I don’t like this but I can’t get over the hairstyle with those wanna-be Bantu knots. They should know better – missed opportunities all around,” fumed an underwhelmed miyakestan420.

“I love Arizona but this concept is wrong for her. It’s an awful campaign, entirely Karl’s fault. He doesn’t know what he’s doing,” raged anlabe32. (more…)

Irina Shayk Really Didn’t Need This Much Photoshop on Vogue Brazil’s January Covers

Is Irina Shayk set to become 2017’s most in-demand model? It sure is starting to look that way, as she’s already the face of the Alberta Ferretti and Givenchy Spring 2017 campaigns and continues to be embraced by the rest of the fashion industry. Vogue Brazil kickstarts the new year with two new covers featuring the Russian bombshell for January, photographed by Giampaolo Sgura. However, there is a clear favorite when viewing both covers side by side.

Members of our forums weren’t afraid to tell it like it is. “I love the second cover (above). I think that the first one (below) would have been lovely if her expression and styling were better,” pointed out kokobombon upon seeing both covers.

Sensation felt the same way: “The second cover is much better than the first.” (more…)

“How gorgeous! It doesn’t look try-hard or too forced. Danes can be great in print, and can’t wait for the new season!” Miss Dalloway shared. (more…)
