Jen Brill: Get the Look

Brill makes an appearance in this month’s Harper’s Bazaar, in a piece showing off her personal style. Often seen in New York City with famed photographer, Terry Richardson, Brill sports the latest pieces from the runway, often including Chanel.

Her outfits are consistently cutting edge, always focusing on the statement piece, usually paired with a pair of fantastic heels.  When Brill first came on the scene, one would often see her rocking her bright purple suede YSL Mary-Jane heels with an all black outfit.

Brill has moved on to plenty of other top designers besides the classics like Chanel and YSL.  Right after Proenza Schouler showed their fall collection in February, Brill was seen on Terry Richardson’s blog wearing the instantly popular clogs from the collection, one of her staples for fall, seen in Bazaar.

Brill is often conscious of art when it comes to her ensembles, due to her art school background.

Each look that she wears mixes textures and prints, and even trends from multiple decades.

Brill is the perfect example of downtown cool meets the Upper East Side, where she was raised.  Her shaggy dark brown locks and red pout always finish off each look.

To create your own Jen Brill-inspired look, get ready for fall with a few select pieces.  Start with a sheer black collared blouse, and layer with a lacy leotard from American Apparel.  A full calf-length skirt adds a touch of the upcoming fall feminine trend, seen on the runways of Prada and Louis Vuitton.

Add an edge to the whole look with the all important statement shoe, like the “Why Stop Platform” by Jeffrey Campbell, complete with metal embellishment.  A classic cross-body black leather mini-bag and red lipstick will keep your whole look feminine with a roughed up downtown edge that gives Jen Brill the “it” girl image she has become known for.
