Style Showdown: Katherine Heigl vs. Rihanna and More

Sometimes stars get it right, and sometimes they need another celeb to step in and show ‘em how it’s done. Here’s a look at some celebrity fashion hits and misses:

Trend: Wide Leg Jean

Miss: Desperate Housewives actress Emily Bergl attempted the 70s trend with wide-leg jeans and a tacky hot pink ruffled blouse at the launch of Kimberly Snyder’s new book “The Beauty Detox Solution” but should’ve left the look in the past.

Hit: Emmy Rossum looked boho chic at LAX in a more subtle ruffled leopard blouse and wide-leg jeans in a flattering wash by H&M. Her center part and loosely feathered waves completed the look.

Trend: Lace

Miss: Lace can be lovely, but 90210 actress Jessica Lowndes looked like she forgot her shirt on a recent night out on the town at Embassy Night Club in London.

Hit: Nicky Hilton‘s white Charles Henry dress was lacy without being racy at the Starlight Children’s Gala. She accessorized with nude heels for a pretty spring look.

Trend: Fringe

Miss: Katherine Heigl went wild wild West in a fringed leather skirt, slouchy boots, and belt with an oversized buckle while arriving at a meeting in Beverly Hills. The pieces might work separately, but together it looks like a costume.

Hit: Rihanna rocked the Western look in a fringed white leather dress by Versace, which was appropriate for her country debut at the Academy of Country Music Awards.
