Cosmetics giant CoverGirl loves using celebrities as spokesmodels and now Modern Family’s Sofia Vergara is set to be the latest famous face to represent the brand. The Colombian-born actress will join an impressive roster of pitchwomen including Drew Barrymore, Taylor Swift, Queen Latifah, and Ellen DeGeneres. Sofia is already appearing in ads for Diet Pepsi, and her promotional venture for CoverGirl will begin January 2012 with the breakout star pitching several new products.
Sofia's career has been red hot lately. She not only has her hit ABC show, but she's also starring alongside a huge cast in the Valentine's Day follow up called New Year's Eve. That premiere is sure to offer a star-studded red carpet, and Sofia has certainly had some experience dressing up for high-profile events.

Her pale one-shouldered Emilio Pucci made a dramatic statement at the 2009 American Music Awards back in November of that year, especially since most attendees favored shock value over glamour. Out and about in Beverly Hills last June, Sofia slipped on a pair of Rich & Skinny cargo leggings in Aloe, which perfectly counterbalanced her billowy white blouse.

It makes perfect sense that she would wear a Louis Vuitton Fall 2010 frock to the Louis Vuitton Santa Monica Heal the Bay Benefit in August 2010. Although Sofia decided not to include the runway version's velvet belt, this full-skirted navy dress was accented by a gold clutch and black heels. Mesmerizing in a metallic Temperley London Spring 2011 dress with corseted bodice, Sofia worked the red carpet at the 2011 Critics’ Choice Awards in January. Chopard jewels helped amp up the overall look.

This bright blue Roberto Cavalli she donned for the 2011 Screen Actors Guild Awards had a significant plunging neckline. Sofia once again opted for Chopard jewels, but this time went with Stuart Weitzman pumps. Zuhair Murad’s Spring/Summer 2011 mermaid silhouette black gown fit Sofia flawlessly for the Vanity Fair Oscar Party in February. The lace panels, corseted bodice and strategic diamonds made the dress a scene stealer.

Lunching with friends at Il Pastaio in Beverly Hills last month, the actress was bundled up in a plum-colored scarf which really popped against her all-black ensemble. Stuart Weitzman Bracelet booties rounded out the look. Sofia's gown for the 2011 Met Gala earlier this month was, frankly, underwhelming. The strapless blossom pattern faille Carolina Herrera would have been an elegant choice for a different function, but this was a tribute to Alexander McQueen where extravagance is expected.
We're looking forward to the unveiling of Sofia's CoverGirl promos!
