The Return of The Romper

There is no denying the 70s are back. With super-flares and stick-straight hair gracing the runway, it’s fitting that the romper has returned as a must-have for summer 2011. With weather getting warmer, it’s no surprise we’ve been seeing plenty of celebrities rocking the romper while dodging the paparazzi and posing on the red carpet.

The star studded red carpet at the MTV Movie Awards on June 5 was proof that the romper is ageless and is a great alternative to a dress. Both Cameron Diaz and Elle Fanning showed up to the ceremony in Los Angeles in rompers that worked for them. Thirteen-year-old Fanning looked sweet, cute and confident in a belted, pink floral print romper by Dolce & Gabbana, while 38-year-old Diaz looked sexy and sophisticated in a sleek, black jumpsuit by Phillip Lim.

While Cameron proves the romper isn’t just for the under 21 crowd, actress Aimee Teegarden nails the whole casual chic look in this red romper she wore to the Kids Choice Awards in April.

Tyra Banks is also a big fan of the one-piece outfit. She showed up to the New York Stock Exchange in March wearing a nude long sleeved romper by Haute Hippie. Paired with hosiery and over-the-knee boots, it’s a look that isn’t commonly seen at the Stock Exchange but Banks does her best to make the romper business friendly.

The always elegant and beautiful Diane Kruger paired a Jill Roberts romper with Chloe flats. Looking comfortable but so stylish, the romper is definitely ready to battle the summer dress for most-beloved item this summer.

Living it up under the hot Miami sun was Kim Kardashian, who earlier this month was spotted in an adorable, strapless grey romper. Paired with cork wedges and a belt that cinches her waist, showing off the curves she’s best known for, Kim is so hot in this must-have.
