Sometimes it’s the little touches that take your outfit from average to enviable. Celebrities have stylists to calculate all the complicated nuances of putting together a look, but we aren’t all so fortunate. Luckily, tFS has put together some celeb-inspired styling tips and tricks to help you put together a look that’s got that extra oomph! It makes sense that Sucker Punch actress Jamie Chung got her start in the spotlight for her (forgiveable) stint on MTV’s Real World, because her style is just that—real. Let Chung show you how to mix fresh pieces for looks that are as trendy as they are wearable.
Tip #1: Leopard and mint make an on-trend combination
Leopard with black may be sexy, but leopard with mint is so much more fun. As Lady Gaga proclaimed in her Marry the Night music video, mint is about to be very big, and Jamie Chung paired her Moto Leigh mint skinny jeans with a Topshop sweater in a pattern that’s already huge. The look was perfect for the laid-back vibe of the Sundance Film Festival, her black combat boots adding a functional urban touch, while the collared blouse peeking out from her sweater made the outfit just ladylike enough. Her coral nail polish popped against the green of her pants.

Tip #2: Toughen up a printed dress with a biker jacket
Chung looked the perfect marriage between boho LA and uptown NYC as she hailed a cab in West Hollywood. She toughened up her fluttery multi-print sundress by buttoning a unique wool biker jacket with an asymmetric front zip over the top, adding girl-on-the-go accessories like a black leather satchel backpack, zip-up ankle booties, and clubmaster glasses.

Tip #3: Multi-hued heels kick up a basic dress

Jamie Chung has a way of pulling basic pieces together for an end result that’s relaxed without being informal, like she did at a Golden Globes after party. Her grey Brose sack dress might’ve been boring if she hadn’t kicked it up with a pair of multi-hued Ruthie Davis “popsicle” heels. She added sparkle with formal accessories like a black metal clutch by Lancaster and an Andrea Candela diamond cuff, and completed the look with a swipe of red lipstick.
1. Smashbox Be Legendary Lipstick – $19; 2. Devoted Cross Neck T Dress – $195; 3. BKE Shot Bead Trim Cuff Bracelet – $15; 4. Ellian Sequin Jewel Clasp Hard Clutch – $68; 5. Jeffrey Campbelle Groovie Platform Sandal – $79.50
