Leelee Sobieski has been making a real impact on the red carpet lately. The actress certainly made her fashionable presence felt at this year’s Tribeca Film Festival attending a variety of festival-related events. It probably doesn’t hurt that her new CBS cop series NYC 22 is executive produced by Tribeca co-founder, Robert De Niro. Leelee is also still setting her sights on the big screen, appearing in a yet to be released film alongside Dennis Hopper called The Last Film Festival.

There's just something so beautifully unconventional about this star's style. Take the charming pale pink Chanel Spring 2012 number Leelee donned for the Tribeca Film Festival’s annual Chanel Artists Dinner late last month, which earned her a spot on our weekly “Best Dressed” list. Chanel sandals with that standout coral heel provided the perfect finishing touch. Leelee was decked out in far more casual festival fare just a few days earlier. Those colorful Tabitha Simmons Bailey Flesh Kid Spring 2012 patterned heels gave a noticeable kick to her rather laid-back pairing of a dark blue crewneck sweater and light skinny jeans.

For The Five-Year Engagement premiere, Leelee wore a sophisticated Boy. by Band of Outsiders Fall 2012 black halter gown. She accessorized with intricate matching sandals by Azzedine Alaïa. The white Jil Sander Spring 2012 gown the actress selected for the festival’s Vanity Fair party was the epitome of elegant minimalism. Leelee only added a bright pink lip shade to complete the look.

Last year was also an eventful one for the actress. At the 2011 Met Gala, Leelee looked lovely in a custom-made Vionnet ivory silk crepe de chine dress with gold leather laser cut leaf belt. Alexander McQueen’s Spring 2008 jersey drape front dress was Leelee’s pick for the May 2011 Volkswagen, MoMA & MoMA PS1 Celebratory Dinner. Raffia woven booties from Dries Van Noten’s Spring 2010 offering finished off the look.

She was outfitted by her husband and menswear designer Adam Kimmel at the 2011 CFDA Fashion Awards the following month. Leelee’s white fitted suit featured high-waisted pants and was combined with slightly awakward brown zipper booties. She opted for this striking Mary Katrantzou Kite Runner printed silk-jacquard Fall 2011 creation to take in the Metropolitan Opera opening night performance of “Anna Bolena” in September 2011. Her choice of footwear seemed a bit out of place once again, especially with such a striking structured dress.

Jil Sander was also behind the Fall 2011 ensemble Leelee wore to Fashion Group International's 28th Annual Night of Stars in New York City in October. All the accent this navy cotton shirt and chocolate skirt combination needed was a sleek bun. A scallop-edged dark Azzedine Alaïa dress had the actress standing out at the New York premiere of The Iron Lady in December. Leelee rounded out the look with a pair of the brand’s knee-high boots.

Leelee’s fearlessness when it comes to fashion is a truly refreshing alternative on the red carpet.
