Let’s face it, the British summer so far has notably been more of a washout than usual. As we’re stuck in what seems to be a never ending deluge, our only means of escapism is the thought of our hot holidays abroad. This also means that despite the uninspiring rain, we are implementing "operation beachwear." So, with the ever increasing number of British celebrities turning into fashion designers, we have decided to look at a few of our favourites’ new swimwear ranges for a little inspiration.
She is the former star of the British hit reality TV show TOWIE, who originally just owned a salon and famed the Vajazzle in Essex, but since leaving, she has added many more strings to her bow, including her online boutique at amychildsofficial. Essex girls are renowned for dressing up even whilst relaxing at the beach, with their holiday of choice typically being Marbella in Spain. Fittingly, Amy’s swimsuits and bikinis for this season channel Essex girls’ glitz and glamour. Below, Amy models her own designs: Marbella, with tie detail which can be worn in many ways to change your look; Vegas, a cut-out swimsuit designed to enhance the cleavage; and Ibiza, a nautical-inspired bikini with removable halter neck.
We’re still coming to terms with how fab of a fashion designer Victoria Beckham has proved herself to be, so you can imagine how excited we were to hear the news that another Spice Girl, Geri Halliwell, was turning her hand to fashion and designing a swimwear collection for the British department store Next. Her range is on trend yet bears in mind a fuller figure, with leopard print bikinis (very Scary Spice), asymmetric swimsuits, and nautical-inspired swimsuits.
Although she’s most famous for being one of Liverpool’s head Wags (a footballer’s wife or girlfriend) as she's married to footballer Wayne Rooney, Coleen has also used her media attention to develop a very nice career for herself. This, of course, includes designing her own collection for the British online catalogue, Littlewoods. Inspired by her own wardrobe of top designer pieces, her range is heavily influenced by the catwalks yet available to us at high-street prices. Check out some of the bikinis modelled by the lady herself below.
