The annual black tie gala serves as the unofficial kick off for Fashion Week. This year’s precursor to the Fall 2013 shows offered an interesting mix of fashion-forward looks featuring a lot of sequins, sheer details and revealing necklines. Shorter hemlines were also surprisingly popular. Janet Jackson, Heidi Klum and Kenneth Cole were all honored last night, while an eclectic crop of celebs, including Alexa Chung, Karlie Kloss, Cee Lo Green and Lindsay Lohan, hit the black carpet in New York City.
