Drop It Like It’s Hot? Celebs Love Their Hanging Crotch Pants

Over the weekend, Las Vegas' MGM Grand played host to the musical ruckus that was the Billboard Awards. As with all award shows and celebrity red carpet affairs, the fashion ranged from hot to not, however, there was one style I couldn't help but raise an eyebrow over: the drop crotch pant.

Taking to the stage to perform on two separate occasions, Justin Bieber donned leather versions of this low hanging trend, reminding me of the scene in Mary Poppins when Dick Van Dyke pulls his pants down for a penguin tap dance. Or else, Hammertime.

Clearly, Bieber has been hanging out with will.i.am too long and the Twitterverse was quick to criticize his outfit choice (that wasn't exactly helped by the absence of his right sleeve), but guess what guys… the Biebs isn't the only celeb to have worn this swaggy-come-saggy pantaloon. Hey, he isn't even the only male.

Earlier this month Gwyneth Paltrow was spotted in a pair of denim drop crotch pants while running errands in North London. Likewise, Pink, Rihanna, Gwen Stefani and Jessica Alba have all been seen flying low in this sartorial style.

Still, Justin Bieber remains the champion of this look, dropping his crotch like it's hot at virtual every big event. Maybe his age has him feeling wistful for missing out on harem pants the first time around? Or maybe he just has something he wants to hide in his sagging crotch. Like a diaper. A fake I.D. A dozen Tim Horton's donuts. Or even his monkey (get your mind out of the gutter)! Either way, it looks like the drop crotch pant his here to stay, whether we like it or not. Thoughts?
