Kate Middleton in Animal Print: Get the British High Street Look

Yesterday, Kate Middleton made what is perhaps her last public engagement before she gives birth, to officially name the Royal Princess cruise ship in Southampton.

For the occasion, she stayed on-trend and opted for a £169 Hobbs Dalmation print coat. As we know, animal print is a massive trend this season as the most desirable of leopard and snake prints filled up those Spring 2013 runways. She stayed away from her faithful nude heels for a change, and instead teamed her outfit of choice with a pair of black mid-heels and a black fascinator. We love to see that although she’s ready to pop, she’s still wearing heels! Now, that’s a true style icon, and very Victoria Beckham.

Her dalmation print coat has been met with quite the mixed bag of criticism, though, as people either really love the look or hate it. Full block animal print is admittedly a hard look to pull off, so, it’s never going to be to everybody’s tastes.

If you’re still loving the animal print trend, or are even just inspired by the Duchess’ outfit, here are some the best animal-inspired pieces that are currently available on the British high street.

1) New Look, Only grey Rosey leopard print cap sleeve dress, £17.99. 2) French Connection, Cool snake leggings, £29. 3) Dorothy Perkins, Animal stud smock £22. 4) River Island, Brown animal print sheer oversized shirt, £32. 5) Topshop, Animal print cami by Boutique, £45
