The Kardashians to Launch a Fashion Brand

Celebrity Fashion
August 09, 2010

The appeal of being dressed in a Kardashian label escapes me – especially after hearing diva tales from the mouths of so many who have had to deal with the sisters in the context of celebrity events.  However, there’s no denying that whatever Kim, Kourtney, and Khloe Kardashian touch seems to sell.

With Mary J Blige breaking HSN sales records thanks to the release of her new fragrance and Madonna’s 13 year old daughter – who has no experience in design – teaming up with her mother to launch a much hyped Junior fashion line, it’s clear that celebrities sell (even those who don’t necessarily deserve their status).

Aside from the Olsen twins, Gwen Stefani, and Victoria Beckham, few have anything even remotely original to contribute when it comes to fashion. It’s disheartening that this trend of “celebrity” designers has no end in sight.

However, there’s no denying that whatever Kim, Kourtney, and Khloe Kardashian touch seems to sell.

So, at least from a business perspective of turning nothing into a whole lot of something, they deserve a little respect.

To that end, the trio have just announced their partnership with Australian designer Bruno Schiavi’s Jupi Corp. The collaboration will result in the launch of  ready to wear, accessories, lingerie, swim, and shoe collections next year.

WWD got scoop on the line, and they’re reporting it will consists of one-shoulder dresses, jumpsuits, blazers, and leggings meant to suit a variety of body types as well as reflect the sisters individual tastes.

I’ll refrain from giving my two cents as to what I think of that taste….

Manolo Blahnik for J. Crew Fall 2012

Though we have to wait until fall for this collaboration which will reportedly retail for $550 and up on jcrew.com, pointy-toe pumps and cropped pants are destined to be my go-to look for spring.
