Teen Choice Awards 2010 Fashion Recap

Given the nature of the show, it’s little surprise that most of the young Hollywood starlettes that attended opted for bright, colorful, kid-friendly looks.

The event was hosted by the poster child for bubble gum fashion, Katy Perry, and vampires were the big hit of the night.

The Twilight Saga nabbed 11 awards, and MTV’s The Vampire Diaries took home seven awards.

As for Perry, she appeared as a goth, a cheerleader, a geek, and a prom queen throughout the night’s proceedings.

Though there weren’t any standout wow moments, given that most of the night’s stars opted to play it safe, a number of ladies did wear some covetable frocks.

Cat Deeley wore an asymmetrical Preen dress from the label’s Resort 2010 collection. Kristen Bell, who’s usually a boring dresser, brightened things up with a Fall 2010 embroidered organza Stella McCartney dress, and Megan Fox opted to step back from her high-high slit dresses and go for a hot silver lame Fall 2010 Isabel Marant skirt, which she paired with a printed top.

Onto the less dazzling.

While I may love her style on Gossip Girl, Leighton Meester seems to almost always be a flop on the red carpet – although this is more than likely a calculated attempt to  distance herself from her TV counterpart.

Meester opted for an Emilio Pucci long sleeve dress from the brand’s Resort 2011 collection.

While the embroidery was beautiful, with the long sleeves and the fringe it was overkill – especially for a summer event in L.A.

Similarly misplaced was Katerina Graham’s long sleeved Jeremey Scott dress, which she paired with over-the-knee black boots. Not only did the look feel weighty, the actress also opted for popping bright lips and a hugely oversized ring that screamed tacky.

Lastly, there was Hilary Duff. While the soon to be wed actress seemed to be beaming with joy, she wore an uninspired Herve Leger bandage look.

How many times has that same dress made its way down the red carpet? Too many to count – enough already!
