Badgley Mischka is famous for featuring celebrities in their advertising campaigns, hiring big names like Eva Longoria and Brooke Shields. So it was a bit unexpected when Rumer Willis was announced as the brand’s latest face.
The eldest daughter of Demi Moore and Bruce Willis is an aspiring actress, but she seems like an unlikely representative for the brand’s Spring 2011 campaign; after all, she’s better known for having famous parents than for her budding acting career. The ads for the campaign were shot by the fashion photographer, Tony Duran. Rumer will also promote the label’s Mark & James line, swimwear, handbags, and footwear. Why was she chosen? It’s been reported that the designers Mark Badgley and James Mischka admire her youthful, yet glamorous style.
Rumer’s style has certainly matured lately, as she is stepping out of her mom’s stunning shadow. The 22-year-old looked pretty and put together while fueling up at a Brentwood gas station this past November. At the launch of the new Windows Phone 7 in Berlin, Rumer was outfitted in a boyfriend-cut blazer, capped off with dynamic shoulders and black tights, perfect for the unpredictable October weather. Her asymmetric skirt added just enough edge.
Rumer definitely loves her designer duds, too; she wore an electric blue gown at the Tommy Hilfiger Spring 2011 fashion show. For the September 2009 premiere of her movie Sorority Row, Rumer walked the red carpet in a lacy, and slightly daring, jacket from Stella McCartney‘s 2010 Resort collection.
The cut-outs in this pristine white Zac Posen dress made Rumer look sophisticated, while age-appropriate, for her appearance on David Letterman. She paired the dress with jet black Sergio Rossi heels while pushing both her film and cameo on the revamped 90210. Reem Acra‘s eggplant strapless chiffon gown, paired with Neil Lane jewelry, was a fantastic choice for the 2009 Golden Globes Awards, where she was Miss Golden Globe.
So, is she right for the Badgley Mischka role? Whether she was picked for her uncanny fashion sense, or because of her Hollywood pedigree, it looks like a mutually beneficial arrangement. The label gets great press, and Rumer gets to add “model” to her expanding resume.
