Elle Fanning and the Rise of Stylish Young Stars

Younger stars are on the rise. From 16-year-old Dakota Fanning and her younger sister Elle Fanning, to Selena Gomez (who recently appeared in InStyle's February issue, in a gorgeous fashion spread), younger starlets are making waves on the fashion and red carpet scene. Credit it to great stylists, an acceptance of younger celebrities, or the devotion to up and coming style icons; younger starlets are making the right sartorial choices, and wowing us all. 

12-year-old Elle Fanning, the star of Sofia Coppola's film Somewhere, looks age appropriate and fashion forward in this Rodarte dress. Making choices that most expect from well seasoned actresses, Elle clearly works the perfect mix of sophisticated style and youthful flavor. Who else could pull off milkmaid braids with a Valentino gown? In another Valentino gown, Elle looks elegant and grown up. She hasn't seemed to enter any of the awkward fashion stages that other younger stars seem to struggle with. 

18-year-old Selena Gomez can't seem to make a bad red carpet fashion choice. Here she looks elegant, sophisticated, and doesn't expose too much skin, allowing her tangerine gown to make a stunning statement.  Wearing a gorgeous printed Irina Shabayeva gown, Selena looks youthful and sophisticated, and shows off her figure in an elegant and mature way.  In a cream-colored ruffled mini, Selena chooses another gown that is 100% age appropriate.

Almost a red carpet veteran at this point, Dakota Fanning is just as chic as her younger sister. She looks gorgeous in this leather Prada dress and Mary Jane heels. In a one-shouldered mini and studded heels, Dakota makes an incredible red carpet choice whilst still looking young and on trend. In black lace and red satin pumps, Dakota looks like a model during fashion week. We love that she can wear something so versatile, while making it all her own.
