Emma Watson and Alberta Ferretti Launch Green Clothing Line

Celebrity Fashion
March 04, 2011

The Italian luxury-wear designer and the British star team-up for a special eco-minded collection.

Celebrities with their own fashion lines are a time a dozen at this point, but after the Lindsay Lohan and Emanuel Ungaro collaboration flopped, few celebrities actually have had the opportunity to team up with a luxury designer for a special project. Joining the likes of Sofia Coppola with her Louis Vuitton handbag collection, however, is actress Emma Watson. The style conscious British star already has a Burberry ad campaign under her belt and last year worked with People Tree on an ethical fashion line handmade from 100% organic and Fair Trade-certified cotton in India, Bangladesh, and Nepal. Now, Watson is coming out with a “green” capsule collection with Italian designer Alberta Ferretti.

Ferretti may seem like an unlikely partner for the actress, but the collaboration is part of a bigger project that, according to WWD, “will associate Ferretti with 'sensitive people, who want to be supportive of these kind of issues.'” Given how well received Watson’s People Tree collection was and that part of the proceeds of this initiative will go to the organization, the actress seems like a fitting first partner.

The 5-piece collection will be called Pure Threads by Emma Watson Alberta Ferretti and will be made using eco-friendly materials and techniques in Italy. The two dresses, two skirts, and denim shorts that make up the collection will retail exclusively online on Alberta Ferretti’s website beginning March 21 for between $345 and $1,175.

Milly for Sperry Top-Sider® Platform Pump, $224.95

This capsule collection from Milly for heritage brand Sperry is a chic departure from the classic boat shoes we're accustomed to. The preppy style gets an update with Milly's signature colorful prints, along with details like platform heels, nautical rope ties, and wedge soles.

Manolo Blahnik for J. Crew Fall 2012

Though we have to wait until fall for this collaboration which will reportedly retail for $550 and up on jcrew.com, pointy-toe pumps and cropped pants are destined to be my go-to look for spring.
